Providence Journal issues correction to "incorrect[ ]" Path to 9/11 review
The Providence Journal has issued a correction to its September 10 review of ABC's miniseries The Path to 9/11, which falsely reported that the miniseries is "all completely true" and "[a]ll the details are documented," as Media Matters for America noted .
From the Journal's September 12 correction :
A story in Sunday's TV Week section incorrectly stated that the ABC miniseries The Path to 9/11 was "completely true" in its portrayal of the events leading up to the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
The story also incorrectly stated that all the film's details were documented and all the characters were real.
As a result of protests from former Clinton administration officials and others, several scenes were cut or changed from the DVD version provided to TV critics in advance of the broadcast, and the following disclaimer was added to the broadcasts, which aired Sunday night and last night:
"For dramatic and narrative purposes the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialog, as well as time compression."
