Washington, DC - In a report last week by Media Matters for America documenting the right-wing echo chamber of local and regional radio hosts, Cincinnati radio host Bill Cunningham stood out as one of the more prolific purveyors of hate speech and offensive salvos.
"While Bill Cunningham might not have the notoriety of Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, or Glenn Beck, his record of spewing hate and misinformation is just as steady and just as abhorrent," said National Press Secretary J. Jioni Palmer.
While extensive attention has been paid to nationally syndicated radio hosts Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly this year, Media Matters has greatly expanded its monitoring of the vast network of other syndicated and regional radio hosts, including Cunningham, who has also appeared several times on Fox News.
Among the most notable comments made by Cunningham:
The Big Show with Bill Cunningham is a weekday radio program that airs from 12:25 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET on Cincinnati's WLW-AM. The program is simulcast on XM Radio Channel 173. Cunningham, a former Ohio assistant attorney general, also hosts a nationally syndicated Sunday-night talk program titled Live on Sunday Night, It's Bill Cunningham, which is broadcast live on 325 affiliates, according to its syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks.
