It's hard to believe that they've bungled this nomination so badly. Did George sneak out and pick her while Karl Rove was taking a nap?

Personally, I think it's all a setup. After a few weeks of this, she'll probably step aside so Bush can appoint a rabidly conservative judge like they all wanted in the first place, and the Dems will be too confused to protest.

Of course, this may be a test case. It's fairly apparent that assurances have been given that she will vote to overturn Roe. If she slides by, then the unwritten rule against a "litmus test" will go bye-bye, kind of like the fairness doctrine and the independent counsel law. Is there a pattern here?
