SUMMARY: Rush Limbaugh cited a February 17 Associated Press article about his previous false claim that Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is black as evidence that "even the mainstream media knows I get it right all the time, and it is such an odd thing when I am wrong that it is news."

On the February 20 broadcast of his show, nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh cited a February 17 Associated Press article about his false claim that Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is black as evidence that "even the mainstream media knows I get it right all the time, and it is such an odd thing when I am wrong that it is news." Limbaugh added: "You must learn to look at these things positively in life."

Brown is running for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH).

Limbaugh made the erroneous assertion that Brown was black on the February 14 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show in the course of discussing Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett's departure from the Ohio Democratic Senate primary race, which would have pitted him against Brown. As Media Matters for America noted, Limbaugh asserted: "And don't forget Sherrod Brown is black. There's a racial component here, too," adding that "the newspaper that I'm reading all this from is The New York Times, and they, of course, don't mention that." Brown is white -- a fact that Limbaugh later acknowledged.

Despite Limbaugh's theory that the AP article about his imagined "racial component" demonstrates that he is "right all the time," Media Matters has documented scores of Limbaugh's falsehoods, distortions, and baseless or misleading claims.

From the February 20 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: I have learned over the past four or five days that when I make a mistake, it can become national news -- that the Associated Press will actually run a story and hundreds of newspapers will pick it up about how I made an error. Which tells me -- and by the way, folks, I was not offended by this. I know what people's expectations are. When the Associated Press did that story about how I made this error and am misidentifying the race of Sherrod Brown in Ohio, you know what it said to me was that even the mainstream media knows I get it right all the time, and it is such an odd thing when I am wrong that it is news. You must learn to look at these things positively in life, yours and mine as well.

I would agree that he doesn't make that many errors of fact. His conclusions are usually based on opinions and prejudices. He may throw in a few facts for good measure, but you can be certain he is leaving out anything inconvenient to his argument. Partisans and ideologues from both sides of the political spectrum are like this.

The Sherrod Brown incident displays this completely. Limbaugh shows prejudice in assuming Sherrod is black, presumably by looking at his name. Limbaugh then invents a racial component out of the clear ether to further smear the Democrats. He even used the old prejudicial opinion that Democrats don't like military men when the racial theory burst into flames.

Unless you share Rush's prejudices, it is difficult to follow his rationale for just about anything.

Often, his facts are incorrect, his quotes are often taken out of context, or disected to support his argument. He often flat out lies, then say that his show is simply "Entertainment Folks ! " * ** * ** It's sad that so many would follow this idiot right over a steep cliff. "...Ditto Rush, Ditto, Ditto, Bhaaaa, Bhaaa, Bhaaa. . . . . "

Even someone with a track record of getting virtually EVERYTHING wrong as Rush to know the difference between black and white. Personalll I knew Rushie could rise to the occasion and even get something as basic as that wrong

I think it is time for Rush and Hannity to stop pretending that they aren't the mainstream media. They have more audience and more influence than what they call the mainstream media. It is their way of saying "We are the underdog, we are on the outside," When they really are the mainstream media.

It's like Bush pretending he is an outsider from Texas, when he really is part of the establishment through and through. Born: Conn. School: Private, east coast Dad: Former insider President

I heard Rush today spin the UAE deal. It was hilarious. All about how the President was to be trusted and that anyone against the deal was being a racist and profiling of Arabs. To support the deal is to not be supportive of our allies.

I was listening to Rush, and I had to turn off the radio I was laughing so hard (I was driving). He claimed that "feminazis" changed the word "history" into "herstory" for a period of time!!!! Later on he stated that "we're infiltrating China with capitalism". Hilarious.

Of course, he spews hatred with such assurance that it works! Then, to give a patina of intelligence to his spewing, he makes up terms like Feminazi or Chicom (Chinese Communist).

The fact that he's wacko-funny doesn't mean that he isn't also dangerous. Many laughed at Hitler, too...

Congratulations, Limbaugh! You have officially passed the 'I-lie-so-much-but-say-I-don't-but-when-I-really-screw-up-and-other-people-and-news-organizations-correct-me-it-is-because-I-am-right-107%-of-the-time-so-I-spin-it-in-a-positive-way-that-makes-absolutely-no-sense-what-so-ever' test! We at Fox News cordially invite you to take over for Bill O'Reilly once he finally goes postal.

Thank you for applying with us, Robbie

Not even the MSM can say black is white and still maintain the facade that they are doing their job. They called you on one of your many factual errors because they had to, so they could claim some superiority to you. Which maybe they are barely, but I am beginning to doubt it.

I think he claims to be right 98 percent of the time, I think MMFA should recheck his quotes.

By OxyRush's own logic, then, the media hype over Dan Rather's error is that DR MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN ONE WRONG . . .

Did you even read the text of his statements that MMFA cited? How does "I get it right all the time" translate to "I get it right 98 percent of the time"?

mainstream media knows I get it right all the time, and it is such an odd thing when I am wrong that it is news

So in other words, Rush is saying that he's always right except for the times he's wrong.

      Okay....

And volcanos are always erupting except for the times they aren't and unicorns are real except for the times they aren't and the moon is made of green cheese except for when it isn't and....

....Rush will continue to show his overwhelming level of maturity when he introduces his much anticipated "I'm Rubber and You're Glue; Whatever You Say Bounces off Me and Sticks to You" segment.

Hahahaha -- this guy is *such* a joke.
