SUMMARY: O'Reilly Factor guest host and former Rep. John Kasich (R-OH) falsely claimed that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) lost "every place that Bruce [Springsteen] went," referring to the Vote for Change tour and Kerry rally concerts leading up to the election. In fact, Springsteen performed in a total of six states, four of which -- Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin -- Kerry carried in the election, as well as the District of Columbia, where Springsteen also performed.

During the April 4 broadcast of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, guest host and former Rep. John Kasich (R-OH) falsely claimed that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) lost "every place that Bruce [Springsteen] went," referring to the Vote for Change tour, for which the singer headlined many dates, and Kerry rally concerts leading up to the election. In fact, Springsteen performed in a total of six states, four of which -- Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin -- Kerry carried in the election. Springsteen also performed in the District of Columbia, which went for Kerry. Springsteen performed three times in Ohio and once in Florida; both states were carried by Bush.

Springsteen's election performances:

Vote for Change Tour
October 1, 2004 -- Philadelphia
October 2-- Cleveland, Ohio
October 3 -- Detroit, Michigan
October 5 -- St. Paul, Minnesota
October 8 -- Orlando, Florida
October 11 -- Washington, D.C.

Kerry rallies
October 28, 2004 -- Madison, Wisconsin
October 28 -- Columbus, Ohio
November 1 -- Cleveland, Ohio

From a discussion with Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers and Creative Coalition executive director Robin Bronk about the entertainment industry's role in progressive political mobilization, on the April 4 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:

BRONK: And looking at the past couple of campaigns, what are they going to do differently, and how is Hollywood going to make an impact?

KASICH: Well, you know, we had Springsteen over on the Oval at Ohio State, he's singing a storm. He was up in Wisconsin. I think every place that Bruce went, you know, Kerry lost --

POWERS: Right.

KASICH: -- so maybe they ought to tell Bruce to go on tour.

I stopped watching Fox years ago, but recently I moved into a place with free cable..Woo-Hoo! So yesterday I decided to check up on Murdoch's little invention and I couldn't believe how horrible that station is...O'Reilly's replacement (or stand in) is a tool, Hume is sanctimonious...after an hour, I had to turn it off.

Man, can you get more obscure and reaching? Which singer stumped for BushieCo and what were the state results in their performances? How about strippers (Fox likes to show them). Which "polled" danced for BushieCo (excuse me BushieCo voters) and in what states?

What a reach for this clown.

I guess anything to take away from DeLay stepping down, the Homeland Security pedophile and the everyday embarrassment that is the Bush Presidency will do on Fox.

What's next? A special on JFK's sexual daliances?

      Dear MSNBC Editors:

The below transcript of yesterday's "Hardball" interview w Tom Delay is an embarrassment to MSNBC and an insult to the very viewers you so condescendingly purport to care about.

Your host, Chris Matthews should apologize to you and his viewers for one and resign for two.

It's quite explicit -- he is not an "objective" interviewer or supposed "journalist" and his conduct is unbecoming of the former and the latter.

This is not the first time and I, for one am an outraged FORMER consumer of MSNBC because of it. What fraudulent, naive, childish hero worshiping DRIVEL, Mr. Matthews.

      It's fraud, plain and simple

MATTHEWS: Have you seen this new focus group stuff on the candidates?

      DELAY: No I haven’t

MATTHEWS: It’s great stuff. I’ll send it to you — it’s great — yeah it’s great stuff. Hillary, John Kerry. All these guys, all these democrats, and how they do. And, uh, Frank Luntz did it…

      DELAY: who I like

CM: …and Hillary did not do well. Kerry did well.

      DELAY: You’re kidding.

MATTHEWS: I am NOT kidding. They didn’t like Edwards — they thought he was a rich lawyer, pretending to care about poor people…

      DELAY: Too slick. Too slick.

      MATTHEWS: …and Hillary was a know-it-all.

DELAY: Nothing worse than a woman know-it-all

It's a talk show, they talk about stuff.

Delay is out of the running now, his mouth will get any bigger.

In a polling group, guess what -- they talk about things like how candidates come across, how they look, how they speak, what people like and dislike about them. Hillary comes across as your 4th grade teacher dictating to you. Alot of people don't like that. I'm sure she knows it and works on it.

I just don't get it, how do you come up with fraud??

He's a Grateful Dead fan. Good to see the substances kept his thinking clear. He also used to hang out with Ann Coulter. Oh boy, there's a lot to be said there....

Since he mentioned Bruce performing on the Oval at OSU, a quick check would have let him know that while Kerry lost(?) Ohio, he WON in Franklin County, where OSU is located!
