Limbaugh claimed "[t]here can only be one reason" Survivor scrapped "segregated" competition after two episodes -- "the white tribe had to be winning"
On the September 29 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh claimed that "[t]here can only be one reason" the producers of the CBS reality TV program Survivor decided to dissolve the show's competing teams, which had been divided into four "tribes" comprised of African-American, white, Asian-American, and Latino members, into two mixed-race groups after only two episodes -- "the white tribe had to be winning." As Media Matters for America noted, Limbaugh originally asserted that saying "blacks can't swim" "is not a racial or racist comment at all" while "handicap[ping]" the new season of Survivor. He also stated that Hispanics have "probably shown the most survival tactics," that they "have shown a remarkable ability to cross borders," and that they can "do it without water for a long time. They don't get apprehended, and they will do things other people won't do."
From the September 29 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:
LIMBAUGH: Well, it didn't take long for this. After only two episodes, producers at CBS -- the TV show Survivor, you know they -- they segregated all those tribes by race and by ethnicity -- but after only two episodes, the segregation has ended. They have merged the black, white, Asian, and Latino tribes into two mixed-race gangs. There can only be one reason for this, ladies and gentlemen -- that is the white tribe had to be winning. Were -- were it not for that, there would be none of this mixed-gang business going on after only two episodes.

Rush Limbaugh making a racist comment. Shocking I tell you, utterly shocking. Rush Limbaugh is a good man who tells the truth. Anyone who criticizes him clearly hates America.
THANK YOU. njguy93@yahoo.com
you're funny.
Or TV "reality" at least. Survivor is all about twists and surpirses, for the audience. The majority of these changes are plotted well ahead of time. I'm willing to bet after a few episodes there will be another tribal reorganization, this time teturning to racial divisions. (If enough have been eliminated, perhaps into two groups per tribe.)
I wonder what Rush will say then?
(though just a little bit)
It certainly would be very uncomfortable for CBS to show the white people running away with the competition. (Though no more uncomfortable than dividing into races in the first place.)
And though Rush is racist, you can't see it from this comment. If I claim that women always win battles of the sexes on TV, have I made any assertion of male superiority?
He'd realize that Puka Puka (Asian) tribe was actually the strongest. The Aitu (Latino) tribe only lost the second challenge because they threw it. It's pretty standard Survivor so far, with some tribes weaker than others. Although the closet racist inside me laughed when Hiki (black) tribe couldn't put their boat together. Made me think of lil' old Rush.

There are people who are born to be thorns in the sides of society, to give good people a stumbling block to make them stronger, to give thinking people humility, that they are obscure and the loudmouths aren't, to keep fight in right, and Rush Limbaugh is such a person. When I think of the statement in the bible, made by Lucifer when he rejected heaven, I think of Rush Limbaugh and those of his ilk, "I shall be like the most high"! He rattles off his invectives attempting to get ratings from his self-rightious audience but one question remains. Can he swim, jump and run enough to be a contestant on survivor? Those who can do and those who can't become instigators with evil intent. What can you expect from an uneducated drug addict.
cracks me up is MMFA seems incapable of understanding sarcasm.
...will manifest itself on the Foley fiasco. Probably just like his Barney Frank jabs I would imagine.
cracks me up is that people fail to realize that both answers to the question of his character are speculation and totally irrelevant, if not applied to a greater cause (such as media reform, political action, etc).
There's enough evidence in the MMFA database to support the idea that he's a racist, a claim which he denies. But I think that everyone needs to look past the question of his character and look at the greater problems.
Just think! If Rush Limbaugh is a racist, his free speech is protected under the Constitution. But who is the moral authority that decides whether or not certain commentating is racist? Are the number of viewers of his show representative of a bigger problem within our culture?
Is his show nationally syndicated? If Rush Limbaugh is a racist and his show's content is determined to be mostly political, should the nationally syndicated networks provide equal time for people of all political affiliations? Do Rush's affiliates have responsible mission statements?
Tell me why you think the question of his character is relevant, MMFA! Tell me where we can go from here.
But I think it's important that Limbaugh is recognized as hateful, and not just someone the right wing listens to. If he's treated as a commentator that the left wing merely disagrees with, then he gets a pass to keep being hateful. If he's recognized as a bigot by the left wing (and hopefully a few on the right), then his career (or at least his legitimacy in broadcasting) can be weakened, and we will all be better off when nobody chooses to listen to him.
I was just thinking that this demonstrates how Rush Limbaugh is incapable of understanding how to use sarcasm.
Although the closet racist inside me laughed when Hiki (black) tribe couldn't put their boat together. Made me think of lil' old Rush.
Yeah, I thought about Rush too when the white guy stole the chicken from the Asian tribe and, while the ethnic tribes were worried about proving themselves, the white tribe was more focused on hooking up.
or could it be thinly veiled bigotry aimed at his dittohead morons.
Didn't Rush learn about commenting on TV stuff..hence Monday Night Football.
True Surviovor Reality TV would match RightWing Talk Hosts vs. LeftWing Hosts. Although the Lefties would disagree on things, they would still work together for the common good. The Righties would each demand that they are the most important and should have the highest rank in the tribe. Nothing would get done. Alas, the twist, Karl Rove arrives with special guest, Jeff Gannon and hands all the Rigthies a script(talking points). At this point they become empowered and feed Rush to the fishes. The program would then end because of the rampant death of the fish which it is learned later that some type of drug killed them. The final scene has Karly and Jeffy walking down the beach--hand in hand. Reality...methinks so.
Here's a little piece of misinformation he uses quite often.
This man has absolutely no clue what nouns best describe his loyal audience.
What amazes me the most is that people actually watch Survivor, and or listen to Rush (of course you don't have to do one to do the other). Both "shows" are horrible. Rush is a pretentious windbag, and Survivor is just bad TV.
Is that people don't seem to know that this show was taped months ago. Months.
They did not merge the tribes in response to any comments from the public. They merged the tribes before anyone knew about what happened!
On top of that, the producers of this show do not do stuff on the spur of the moment - they decide how to run the show, what challenges to place where and what changes to make before the show tapes. They had decided to separate by race, then merge together two weeks later, before they knew what race would win which challenges.
This clown has NEVER let FACTS get in the way of a good smear.
we have a sick puppy in america and his name is rush
This clown NEVER lets FACTS get in the way of a good smear.
How in the world can they not see all the hate these people are spreading. It is this exact hate plus arrogance which is the root cause of violence and terror. The only thing these hateful commentators thankfully lack is executive power.
Hey everyone! My name is Tyler and I'm new to this website. I signed up earlier this afternoon, but I looked at many things on this website for about a day or two now, and I'm shocked at how far some people go on the airwaves.
