Bill Donohue to Foley: "[M]ost 15-year-old boys wouldn't allow themselves to be molested. So why did you?"

As the People for the American Way weblog Right Wing Watch has noted, on October 4, the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights issued a press release titled "Mark Foley Plays the Catholic Card," which quoted Catholic League president William A. Donohue suggesting that 15-year-old boys who are the victims of sexual abuse are to blame for the abuse they suffer. Responding to the recent statement by the attorney of former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) that Foley "was molested between the ages of 13 and 15 by a clergyman," Donohue, addressing Foley in the press release, asked: "[W]hy didn't you just smack the clergyman in the face? After all, most 15-year-old teenage boys wouldn't allow themselves to be molested. So why did you?"

According to the Catholic League website, communications director Kiera McCaffrey is scheduled to appear on the October 4 edition of CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. As Media Matters for America has documented, Donohue has been a frequent guest on MSNBC and has also appeared on several other cable and network news programs. In light of Donohue's remarks about the Foley scandal, will Donohue continue to be?

There is a special place in hell for you, I'm sure.

This man is the most repugnant human being on the face of this earth. The Church should put a muzzle on this cretin.

Now Bill Donohue has come in with his perpetual and habitual priest-defending. Foley's lawyer released a statement to the press claiming that Foley had been molested as a teenager by a catholic clergyman. This idiot Donohue comes out of the woodwork to defend priests even though the statement released by Foley's lawyer is a sub-issue in the whole scandal. It's like he has a sixth sense--any time someone alleges any type of abuse by a priest, this charlatan Donohue comes out and defends the priests. Now Bill Donohue has entered this thing. You knew it was only a matter of time once priests got involved in this.

[M]ost 15-year-old boys wouldn't allow themselves to be molested.

Isn't that kind of dumbing down sexual abuse? It's not a matter of "allowing" one's self, because that implies CONSENT.

By the way, of course a 15-year-old boy victimized by a face of authority is going to keep quiet about it.

...even at age 15 is enough to land your buttocks in jail. Just because a 15 year old "might" have allowed such an act, doesn't justify it. Get real. It's way past time to hold people accountable for their actions. The GOP (Good Ol' Pedophiles) are all about sex. They crave it. They can't do without it. It has to be in the news. It has to be front and center.

It's also interesting how the GOP will spend BILLIONS to investigate a blow job in the White House (consensual, with a 22 year old) but cover up one of their guys involved with molesting teenagers. It's sick. It's twisted. It's sex. And Republican scumbags LOVE IT.

Having been raised in that very "authoritive" atmosphere - its no surprise that this type of shame and disturbing behavior by the very authority that is taking advantage of the child has gone on as long as it has...Its the very attitude of this "person" (?) that kept it hidden for so long...there needs to be healthy sex behavior taught in our schools and definetly before the kids are 13!...Its out there, its a fact - good or bad and needs to be handled on a science level - the moral can come after the healthy understanding of what is acceptable behavior at ANY age!

For Foley to authorize this "confession" on top of what occurred is like throwing slime on manure (and the priest molestation issue is the true black hole of the Catholic Church). The purpose of this was what? To deflect or justify the behavior? But no, Foley said it had nothing to do with it, THEN WHY SAY IT! Sympathy? It's contemptuous at best!

If it is illegal - they can't give consent --- wellll, they might - 15 year olds can be horny too - just not legally ....

Time America grew up and faced the truth - sex is ''popular'' - mostly because it is taboo (in my book - tho hormones sorta help) -- talk it freely, expose it, make it legal for any and all - it will fade away - wellll, lessen - course that's not the issue - let's ''Bash'' Foley instead - very titilating!!! .....

Now if parents would have the gumption - sigh, wasting words there - heck, let the Government tell kids what's right - parents don't try much any more - teachers are forbidden to teach ....

Maybe, considering the science is available it would be best just to neuter and spade all newborn -- saving the 'clippings' for test-tubes ---- ahhhh, no more hormone problems -- might even end 'time of life changes'? ......

Could end STD too!!! - What the heck, teachers don't dare talk about STD - talking about sex? Taboo ya know ....

Danged if I know why I ranted - maybe just cause I'm tired of all the ----- grin ..... Pat
