On the October 26 edition of Fox News Live, host E.D. Hill compared two "negative ads ... one from each side" -- one by Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill in which actor Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson's disease, endorsed McCaskill due to her support for supporting embryonic stem cell research, the other an ad funded by the Republican National Committee (RNC) that attacks Tennessee Democratic Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. by depicting a scantily clad white woman who "met" Ford "at the Playboy party." As Media Matters for America noted, former Republican senator and Secretary of Defense William Cohen has called the ad attacking Ford "overtly racist." As the two ads aired on-screen, Hill interviewed former Bush White House chief of staff Andrew Card, leaving unchallenged Card's claim that "Democrats have a message of negativity" after earlier stating: "Republicans have a message that has some specifics to it about the future."

From 11 a.m. hour of the October 26 edition of Fox News Live:

HILL: OK, let me tap into your political wisdom here in terms of this last-minute campaigning because we're seeing a lot of negative ads coming out, and they come out on both sides. From your experience, when you're talking to the people, everybody says they hate negative ads, but do they work?

CARD: Unfortunately, negative ads do work. But the most important thing is that the Republicans have a message that has some specifics to it about the future. We know that we want to secure America; we want to give the president the tools to secure America. We want our economy to be strong; we don't want taxes to go up. That's a very specific message.

The Democrats have a message of negativity. It's one -- just -- they just complain about the past, and they don't have any hope for the future. I think that some of those ads highlight the fact that the Democrats really do not have a plan and we should be afraid of them.

HILL: Well, we're seeing negative ads that are out there right now, one from each side. Is there a point when negative ads go -- you know, go past that line?

CARD: Well, I think there's a limit to everything. But right now, we're in the final stages of the campaign. It's really the ground game that will make the difference, and so Republicans are very good at organizing.

When an ad that shows the effects of a disease that could be helped by further research into stem cells is considered "negative". I guess I don't know right from wrong...

As for the Harold Ford Jr. ad - well..... Welcome to the remixed "southern strategy".....

Lying bastards and hypocrites! Your freeking party makes me sick!

Black is White, Ignorance is strength, We've always been at war with Eurasia.

Jesus H. Christ, these people are SHAMELESS. Just when I think they can't be any more dishonest, they actually top themselves.

The stakes are incredibly high in the next election. If we don't get at least one house of Congress, these cretins will goosestep their way toward one-party rule. Their hubris is amazing...they tell easily refuted lies without qualm, and without consequence.

In some ways, it is morbidly fascinating, like watching yourself being pecked to death by ducks.

I dont like the word White Trash.

I will say that ED Hill is in my opinion not a journalist, she should be hosting Access Hollywood or some other tabloid TV Show.

Ailes tells her what to say and she says it, she is like a wind up doll.

You have a lot of nerve calling someone else on trolling. There is a very wet place under a bridge with your name on it.

Card: "the most important thing is that the Republicans have a message that has some specifics to it about the future. "

As I recall, the very latest RNC ad is nothing but PAST video clips of various al Qaeda leaders threatening Americans.

Ever since Sept. 12th, 2001, the Republican party has been dredging up, exploiting and mining the PAST for all it's worth. The RNC's message: Be verrry afraid. Their objective: not to give us hope, but to scare Americans about their future.

He stated; "Republicans have a message that has some specifics to it about the future.".

Nothing could be more true. The Republicans have been defining the future for several years now. That Future is FEAR!

the Playboy white girlfriend inuendo is bad, go to Corker's endorsed radio ad at [link to www.talkingpointsmemo.com] where you will hear the theme music for Corker being string music and the theme sound for Ford being jungle drums - I kid you not, kettle drums that sound as if they are right out of a Tarzan sound track.

how can anybody listen to this, and not think of any fallacies made here? It continues to surprise me every time, the fact that people listen to this without even blinking an eye, without one critical thought. How can people possibly surrender their own logical faculties like that, to be able to swallow stuff like this?

Having Parkinsons is a big ole "negative" for those who suffer from the disease. Oh, wait. I misunderstood Fox vacant talking head #567. She meant an ad for Arlen Specter - oops that was 2 years ago - McCaskill is negative because both would like to research a cure for various diseases.

      How negative of them.

are very good at organizing. (Andy Card). Excuse me? You mean like during Katrina? Or the post-invasion plan for Iraq? george bush (lowercase intentional) can't even organize a simple sentence, and when he tries to, he doesn't have an exit strategy. All they are good at is fear and smear, and the "folks" aint buyin' it anymore. It's time for some real leadership in this country. Buck Fush!
