On the October 30 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, correspondent Kathleen Koch misrepresented the results of a Houston Chronicle/KHOU-TV poll, conducted October 23-25 by Zogby International, falsely claiming that the poll shows Republican write-in candidate Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is "neck and neck, tied actually" with Democrat Nick Lampson in the race to fill former House Republican Leader Tom DeLay's (R-TX) open seat. In fact, the poll shows Lampson ahead of Sekula-Gibbs by eight percentage points: Lampson is currently favored by 36 percent of likely voters in the 22nd Congressional District, while Sekula-Gibbs is supported by 28 percent. A total of 35 percent of respondents support all write-in candidates combined; Koch falsely attributed support for all write-in candidates to Sekula-Gibbs.

Republicans were unable to put a replacement candidate on the 22nd District ballot after DeLay resigned from Congress in June because courts had ruled that the party could not put a different candidate on the ballot after DeLay had won the primary. The Houston Chronicle/KHOU poll's margin of error was 4.5 percentage points.

From the October 30 edition of CNN's Situation Room:

KOCH: Wolf, the White House does believe that the president's appearances help, or else they wouldn't be putting him out there. As a matter of fact they're putting him out in these very tight districts, tight races, where they think the president can do the most good. He's in Sugar Land, Texas, or will be shortly, speaking to a crowd of about roughly 7,000 in an airport hangar and campaigning for, among others, the Republican write-in candidate who wants to fill former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's seat, and it turns out that candidate, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, is now neck-and-neck, tied actually, with her Democratic challenger.

I never contact FOX, because i get the feeling that they will never correct their mistakes and bias, because it's their agenda. CNN is the lesser of two evils.

If there were enough people in that district stupid enough to elect Tom DeLay in the first place, who knows what they might do? DeLay's still a hero to a lot of these God-fearing, Bible-toting Texans. They also probably think that if Jack Abrahamoff was Tom DeLay's friend then Abrahamoff must be a good man... even though he is going to burn in the fires of everlasting hell because he's Jew. Texas is a strange place. I've driven through it many times... quickly.

Me? I doubt that. Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand that many evangelicals, of which the State of Texas has an overabundance, believe that unless Jews accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior that Jews will burn in hell. If that is correct then Jack Abrahamoff, who is reportedly an Orthodox Jew, will burn in hell when he dies. Of course, Abrahamoff's eternal barbeque will have nothing to do with the fact that he is a greedy and dishonest man, it's because he didn't accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior... that is if the evangelicals who believe this are correct.

Abrahamoff won't be able to throw his money around in hell to lobby his way out. Almost everyone there will have money... even Dick Cheney.

Jack will be able to play racquetball with Rush Limbaugh to pass the time.

somehow interpreting the Christian belief that you HAVE to accept Jesus to go to heaven is outrageous when applied to the Jews?

the anti-semite comment was a joke btw.

Solon, I'm not the first to mention this but I have my suspicions about our boy, Artie. He's too good at annoying people (and setting himself up) to be real. I think maybe he's just having a little fun with us. I could be wrong, but I think it's possible Artie voted for John Kerry. :>)

Believing in Jesus or Buddha or whatever doesn't make any difference in your afterlife. The truth is, you have to die in battle to go to Valhalla.

The Eddas say it, I believe it, end of discussion.

He did nothing wrong. He should still be in office, he should have been Speaker of the House instead of pulling Dennis Hastert's marionette strings, and he should run for President in 2008. We are all with you Tom, and we pray for you every day. Long live Tom Delay.

      THANK YOU. njguy93@yahoo.com
