During an interview with former White House chief of staff Andrew Card on the November 2 edition of Fox News' The Big Story, host John Gibson asked Card whether the uproar over Sen. John Kerry's (D-MA) "botched joke" would have an impact on the November 7 midterm elections. Card claimed Kerry's remark "has given us some new momentum" but added that "this election is more than about a short-term experience that John Kerry might have had." Then, a graphic appeared onscreen -- what Gibson called a "little equation ... a 'Kerry equals' " chart -- showing a picture of Kerry followed by an "equals" sign and then images of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), and Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean, separated by "plus" signs. Gibson then asked Card: "Is this what you're trying to say ... that's what you're going to get is Kerry-esque Congress?"

Card responded: "Well, I think it's clear you will."

From the November 2 edition of Fox News' The Big Story with John Gibson:

GIBSON: Andy, do you think the John Kerry thing has actually had an effect on what's going to happen on Tuesday?

CARD: Well, I think that John Kerry, who carried the banner for the Democratic Party, I mean, he is the leader of the Democratic Party, the last head of their convention. He's the one who put his foot in his mouth and took too long to take it out. And when he took it out, he didn't apologize. In fact, he said he wasn't going to apologize. And it took far too much time for him to apologize for the insensitive remark that he made about the troops. Whether it was a gaffe or not, it was insensitive, and he knew it. And he apologized, but he apologized a little too late.

And it has given us some new momentum. But this election is more than about a short-term experience that John Kerry might have had. It's really about a strong economy, and it's about protecting America. And we have a great economy in this country, and that economy will be jeopardized if the taxes go up. And you know, the tax cuts that are in place are scheduled to expire, so we need Congress to pass an extension of those tax cuts, and it's not likely they will do it if they're controlled by the Democrats.

GIBSON: Andy, we have a little equation here put I'll put on the screen, here. It's a "Kerry equals." Is this what you're trying to say? Kerry equals Howard Dean, John Conyers, Nancy Pelosi, that if the Democrats win, that's what you're going to get is Kerry-esque Congress?

CARD: Well, I think it's clear you will. John Kerry is not running away from any of those people that you just mentioned, and I don't see any of those people running away from John Kerry. There are others in the Democratic party who have said John Kerry, please stay home.

Hey Gibby . . . maybe you skipped over this . . . Kerry is a SENATOR . . . furthermore, he is NOT up for reelection . . . so, how can the HR be described as "Kerry-esque"? Wouldn't it make more sense to describe the House after a house member, i.e. "Pelosi-esque"?

Then again, making sense has never been your strong suit . . .

It's pretty clear that the folks at FOX (read Republicans) are going to use Kerry anyway they can over the next few days, hoping it does the desired damage. However, pointing out what you have, it does speak volumes to what FOX thinks of their audience.

Interesting how they're so focused on the celebrity. It's Hollywood for ugly people. Ugly souls too.

I don't like Kerry for several simple reasons, nothing to do with his celebrity, but his actions while in office.

      1. He whined about the World Court calling the West Bank Wall a crime. He's all for the genocide of three million Palestinians, some of whom are actually starving in Gaza as we speak.

      2. He actually said "Israel's security is the United States' concern", was on his website in the 2004 race. He works for another nation, not the United States.

      3. His plan for Iraq was to throw 40,000 more troops into harm's way (escalation) and then start sneak attacking other nations with Special Forces (expansion). Seen it before...LBJ escalating troops incountry and Nixon expanding operations into Cambodia and Laos.

      4. The worst attendance record in the Senate. He doesn't take his job very seriously. If I were Massachusettian, I'd certainly be mad at his take-home pay. He doesn't work for it.

5: Overall,he's about as liberal as Trent Lott or Orrin Hatch. He's fine with trashing the rights of individual citizens and sides with Big Money in it's class war on poorer Americans. He did brag about helping draft the Patriotic Act. Wow, real liberal.

If you want to truly understand politics and what is going on, you have to stop listening to what is being said about people and to what they actually do. I don't watch the politico-celebrity gossip columns we call CNN, FOX, CBS....I read the events and the actual behaviours of the politicians...their "characters" on the grand stage of time.

And character counts. Kerry's a bad character. He's no hero. Why worship him merely because of that D behind his name?

on the principled island, calling out Dems as well as the GOP, but you have to acknowledge that in politics that have to NOT offend the majority of 300 million, people like Kerry are getting roasted for telling a LITTLE bit of the truth.

We all get your stance, and I wish we could count on 51% of Americans having the Huevos to vote for a 3rd party candidate that dealt in reality, but realistically you have to see that we're living in a country where a small minority is actually ready for the truth. baby steps, no?

It's been 200 years...you'd think the American electorate would be out of their diapers by now, eh? We need to vote like men, men who are trying to protect their families and their futures. There's no more room for "lesser evils" when the Bill of Rights is almost gone.

Have you ever looked up his voting record or his policy statements? Or do you just beleive it when Republicans called him the most liberal Senator? He's actually one of the most conservative Democrats!

Don't accuse me about being uninformed. I don't get my information from CNN. I get the good stuff.

Don't forget John Gibson isn't a Republican, he's an Independent. It just so happens that he agress with Republicans 100% of the time and spews their talking points daily, but that doesn't change the fact that he's an Independent, right?

From O'Really claiming that he's an independent to several of our "Conservative" posters here, no one is a Republican, but they can repeat the official RNC talking points and use the exact same phrases coined by Karl Rove. But they're independent, Not Republicans. Sure they are. I'm hearing this from so many posters, that I now believe that some are plants, being paid by the post. And don't think I'm being paranoid. A lot follow the same technique. They start a flame war by throwing off-topic red meat out and then say that they didn't mean that, but they really meant this. Then the thread gets out of control with all of the responses that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Don't get me wrong, there are many conservative posters who have been here longer than I. They're still using the same name and they don't just come around close to elections or when we're being sold a bill of goods by the Neo-Cons. I respect them and most have treated me with respect. But a week from now, the others will be gone, only to resurface under a new name later.

What kind of Kafka-esque world do we live in, when they try to scare us by saying a Kerry-esques congress would be any worse than a DeLay-esque congress?

Maybe this is some kind of Python-esque skit that Gibson and the others at Fox Propaganda are trying out?
