As the weblog Firedoglake first noted, during the November 7 edition of her nationally syndicated talk radio show, Laura Ingraham urged listeners to jam the phone lines of 1-888-DEM-VOTE, a voter assistance hotline sponsored by the Democratic Party. Ingraham stated: "I want you to call it and I want you tell us what you get when you call 1-888-DEM-VOTE. They're on top of all of the shenanigans at the polling stations. One problem: you can't get through." Minutes later, while talking with a listener who called the hotline, Ingraham said: "Let's keep 'dem' lines ringing." Ingraham, a frequent Fox News contributor, is scheduled to appear on the November 7 edition of Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto.

According to Firedoglake, the voter assistance hotline is "now being flooded with calls from crank callers."

From the November 7 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Laura Ingraham Show:

INGRAHAM: Multiple callers are calling the 1-888-DUMB-VOTE line and they said that the line is now broken. That you can't get through.

MATT FOX (technical producer): The Democrats can't even do that right; they can't even do a help line.

INGRAHAM: First of all, you're telling people that their vote is being suppressed at all these polling stations across the country. Vote is being suppressed, what are you talking about? You want to see voter suppression? Try to vote in Iraq when you have snipers on rooftops, OK? Those people walk to the polls; they don't care about the snipers. So don't talk to me about voter suppression. That is the biggest bunch of baloney that we've been sold, and we've been sold it election after election by desperate Democrats -- 1-888-DEM-VOTE. I want you to call it, and I want you tell us what you get when you call 1-888-DEM-VOTE. They're on top of all of the shenanigans at the polling stations. One problem -- you can't get through.

[...]

CALLER: Hey, Laura, I called the 888 number. I think I cost the Democrats at least 25 cents.

INGRAHAM: What happened?

CALLER: Well, you get the number, they ask you to put in your zip code; they ask you, of course, English or Spanish.

INGRAHAM: Blood type?

CALLER: And, you know, they say that they'll trace back to your phone. They give you options as to do you want to find your polling place, did you have trouble voting?

INGRAHAM: Do you know what zip code you live in?

CALLER: Oh yeah, I did. I'm pretty sharp.

INGRAHAM: So you never got through, you never got through to talk to a real live dumb poll helper?

CALLER: No, I just got voice mail. I figured I was gonna cost as much money as I could. Well, finally, when they couldn't answer my questions electronically, they said, "We'll forward your call to the local election office."

INGRAHAM: 1-888-dim -- or dumb -- VOTE. No, it's really DEM-VOTE. Let's keep "dem" lines ringing.

...or prosecuted in some way. This is tantamount to voter obstruction. Can't win fair and square...?Well, then.... better steal, lie, cheat... That's the level these clowns have brought the discussion to = retain power at any cost.

if all of the people that really "follow" this hollow woman, the total number of people calling would be about twelve(12). And that would cost about $3.00.

Can't worry about an amateur like laura...but she is a goofy one. Today, 11/8, she is crying on the inside and still looking stupid on the outside.

The thinkprogress.org item on this topic quotes Ingraham as saying, "Tell me if you think I’m crazy. This is what I’m thinking. I think we all need to call 1 888 DEM VOTE all at the same time."

I hope that she will be investigated by the fed's. This is akin to the NH phone jamming operation where those people were convicted with jailtime. This type of offense is a felony with a 10 year sentance attached. Lets see her try to squirm out of that one. Maybe her buddy Clarence Thomas can help her out.

There definitately was voter supression in my precinct. The traffic jam in the parking lot and the number of people who took their time reading the new computer screens for every stinking issue on the ballot caused more than a few to go home.

            Where do I collect?

            ;-)

ps. Congratulations to the Democrats. I hope and pray the can do something other than whine. ;-)

By encouraging her listeners to spend time jamming the phone line of the Democratic voter assistance hotline, this will have two immediate results:

1} the more time her listeners spend making crank calls, the fewer of them that will be available to harass and intimidate Democratic voters who are already going out to the polls, and

2} the more time her listeners are making phone calls, the fewer there'll be actually tuning in to her - and as her listenership goes down, so will her her ratings, until she is eventually - and thankfully - off the air.

      Way to go, Laura!

It is sad how pathetic Republicans have become.

They haven't even lost yet, but they are already acting like sore losers.

Why do Republicans hate democracy so much?

and jam the phone lines of HER RADIO SHOW? We could start about 3 or 4 hours before her show starts, & just keep hitting redial until her show is over. For 1 day she would get nothing but LEFT WING callers. It would give her a taste of her own dirty tricks.

But we won't. We don't really think like her. It's hard for progessives to behave like fascists.

      But still...

Voting is a PATRIOTIC DUTY. It is a privilege and an honour. Sadly, some people are selectively patriotic, depending on the flavour of the Day. Ingram, Coulter, The Republican Party and their cohorts believe that to support anyone but themselves is UNPATRIOTIC. Therefore it is their PATRIOTIC DUTY to prevent the UNPATRIOTIC vote for the DEMS. We are Patriotic, are we not!

She basically advocated that her listeners perpetrate a distributed denial of service attack on the voter help line. In the world of IT, it's illegal.

And for Matt Fox to say that Democrats can't even do a help line correctly is just bull****. Even the most sophisticated network on the planet is not capable of coping with a DDOS of sufficient size.

It's unfortunate that what she advocated isn't illegal in that venue - telephones.

So many of you assume she is trying to suppress the vote. How silly. You may not realize that calling a Democrat toll free number is not suppressing the vote.

I think so many missed the fact that Ingrahm was ridiculing the Dems because, as she put it," you can't get through." So, I seriously doubt whether hoardes of evil Republicans were awaiting marching orders from Ingham to jam phone lines that were already jammed.

So my guess is all this outrage expressed here will go nowhere as it usually does.

Besides, when you think about it, Ingrahm was telling her listeners to talk to Democrats. Isn't that a good thing?

Enjoy. Enjoy. Lets see what Pelosi and Co. can do.

The sickest thing is that these psychotics claim the "liberals" are dividing the country.

I'd love to meet Whora Ingraham late at night. She'll become fertilizer if I do. I'm not a violent guy, but that she has a "mainstream" media to which she has such easy access is a nightmare. She needs to be put in her place, where she belongs: either the emcee of a kiddee TV show or flippin' burgers.

      Got that Whora?
