O'Reilly: "Hillary just looks like a zombie" during SOTU
On the January 30 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, during the weekly "Body Language" segment with Fox News body language expert Tonya Reiman, host Bill O'Reilly stated that "[Sen.] Hillary [Rodham Clinton (D-NY)] just look[ed] like a zombie" during part of President Bush's State of the Union address. Reiman then analyzed Clinton's body language during a January 28 speech in Davenport, Iowa, in which Clinton responded to a question by asking: "What, in my background, equips me to deal with evil and bad men?" While watching video of Clinton making the joke, Reiman said: "Watch how she sways back and forth. It's almost childlike, the way she moves back and forth." Reiman then claimed that Clinton was in a "little-girl posture." O'Reilly responded: "Right. 'I'm bad, I'm bad.' "
From the January 30 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:
O'REILLY: But he's [Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL)] not looking at the president, he's looking down.
REIMAN: He doesn't need to be.
O'REILLY: No?
REIMAN: He's going through -- the thought process is there. He's not literally holding his head up, which would be boredom. He's thinking about what's being said.
O'REILLY: Now, Hillary just looks like a zombie right there, right?
REIMAN: Yes, she does.
[...]
REIMAN: You know, she starts off with this movement of her upper body, which indicates that she was nervous when she first starts talking. Watch how she sways back and forth. It's almost childlike, the way she moves back and forth.
And then when she tries to make the first point, you could see her mouth and her head jut forward. She's making her point. And I believe it was Osama bin Laden when she said this. And then see that. That's the point she's trying to emphasize.
Now, as she goes further, she does a couple little things. First, she makes that little smirk as she's talking. It's almost as if she's thinking about whether or not she's really about to say the next sentence. I don't think that this sentence was scripted --
O'REILLY: No.
REIMAN: -- because this seems like there's the little-girl posture.
O'REILLY: Right. "I'm bad, I'm bad."
REIMAN: She's got that whole little-girl posture.

Careful, Bill.
You know how fond a lot of your listeners are of voting for zombies.
NEXT, O'Reilly should set this "expert" loose on, say, a horse race (with an obvious allusion to politics, which is, after all, often compared to a horse race).
"BODY LANGUAGE" expert, handicapping a horse race: "As you can see, the front runner is leaning his head forward. This shows the horse's desire to proceed in the direction he's running. It also may show his determination to win. However, if you look to the horse in second place, you might note he's tossing his head slightly from side to side. This shows that he's considering changing his path in order to try to run around the horse in front. Also, his eyes are popping ... you can see the whites all around ... this indicates intense concentration. He's thinking about taking the lead ..."
... and so on. See how it works? Just describe what you see, and attribute possible motivations to actions that are obvious. Doesn't need to be accurate or true, and nothing is "riding" on what you say.
AND NEXT, O'Reilly will call upon a Voodoo Priestess to throw an assortment of chicken bones on the table, and predict the outcome of the presidential election. FOX NEWS: WE present carnival sideshows, YOU be distracted from important issues (because the REAL "NEWS" is not good for Republicans, Conservatives, or Rightwingers in general).
What is with this guy and the whole body language "expert" anyway?
Judging by his body language, I would consider him to be a vicious SOB who is not really doing anything good for this country.
it is REALLY a dumb segment, and most oreilly wathers agree. i was a premium member on his website and the viewer voting always rates the body language segment a C-/C+ while everything else gets an A. Its just so stupid, he thinks he will find insight and truth behind what they say but most of the time her analysis is just like "yeah they were bored/nervous" which i couldve told you myself.

I hope there aren't many school teachers in that "premium member" club.
PSSSTT!! Tommy!! Come here! This is somebody giving their OPINION!! It's not misinformation!! Quick, alert the authorities!!
Well actually its not misinformation is just moron O"reillys opinion. Of course now watch toinight on MSNBC Olberman will use this and name O'Reilly "Worst Person in the World" meanwhile on Olbermanns own network Don Imus calls Senator Clinton "satan" to guests and listeners almost on a daily basis. But of course that is ignored on Olbermanns show.
Dontcha just love that Olberman!!!
I've seen you post about this fairly often. My guess is that olberman might be contractually prohibited from going after folks on his own network....just a thought.
An interesting end-around: Keith could once in a while simply SKIP one of the awards, with absolutely no explanation. Contractually solid?
On the other hand, I probably destroyed that ploy with this very posting, since so many of the Corporate types pay flunkies to monitor this site! Darn!
I would say that ad hominem attacks like this appears to be would constitute misinformation even though they are giving opinions, it is not germaine to anything substantive. The misinformation is that any of what they are saying really matters at all. Just trying to poison the well further. Now if they were giving opinions on substantive policy or issues, that would be different.
The interesting thing about O'Reilly is how he tries to come off as serious, yet always engages in some form of childish name-calling. I'm just amazed that he's not losing viewers/listeners by the droves. I guess he's just got them under his spell. I was under that spell a few years ago.
If the right would continue to watch this man, they might see a reflection of their own personna, then maybe they would finally make an effort to grow up.
off topic but
anyone see the geico caveman commercial with a very o'reilly like host interviewing the caveman and his "opponent"? it's the perfect satire on his show, and hilarious.
I thought you were going to write that the caveman was O'Reilly.
Hillary looked bored. McCain looked asleep.
I don't watch O'Reilly anymore...and IF this is what he's featuring these days [body language] I'm glad I left.
I was clicking the channel a few fridays ago and Bill O had a segment on past TV Shows, I guess he does it every Friday. It was interviews he did 8-10 years ago. His show is really boring.
looks to me like obama is using his hand as a pillow and hillary is at least not doing that and keeping her eyes open.
....and John Mcain was sound asleep, so what. I watched the entire speech and it was boring, but I have to monitor president GW Retardo very closely because you never know what he's going to do next. For instance when he declares war on Iran he just might draft you.
What a ridiculous concept this O'Reilly segment on 'body language" is. I mean really. It's stupid beyond the pale. Any excuse to bash Hillary on any level possible and for anything she does, including I'm sure whether when she cooks pasta she puts the noodles in from the right or left side of the pot. I would much rather O'Reilly show me feature films and say "see, Brad Pitt really doesn't want to do this scene the way the director inteded. His eyes are squinting and his hands are in a fist. He's really saying 'I hate this scene.'"
Bill Oreilly; "Couldn't dig up any dirt on Hillary today, so let's bring on the body language broad."
Bill O'Reilly has Hillary covered. He has a woman come on to read her body and Dick Morris on to read her mind.
that's a good one
Probably has a crush on the body language expert, he's an old letch you know.
Lynn, have you seen BilldO using the Miss America "scandals" as an excuse to have former Miss Americas on his show? And get all sexy with them?
I'm a guy with NO game, but I gotta say, O'Reilly's flirting is about the most clumsy, dirty and creepy i've ever seen.
O'REILLY: Right. "I'm bad, I'm bad."
And if Bill had continued his analysis:
"I'm a baaaad girl. I need a good spanking. Spank me! Spank me with your falafel! Whip this bad girl with a loofah! Smack my bottom with your Peabody"
finally Billy provides a topic everyone can agree on!
By creating this boring, moronic bit of television, O'Reilly can bring both conservatives and liberals together! What a uniter!
If he can do this here, maybe we should send him to Iraq and see if he can bring everyone together there? And you thought they hated America before now!
The use of the term "zombie" in this piece is offensive to Undead-Americans.
VALENTINAN LMAO!!!
THX I really need that!!!!
Good point,Val-
Where are all the pro-life people when zombies are murdered by the hundreds in movies? They're human bodies, more viable than any fetus, yet considered disposable.
BODY LANGUAGE???
This is what news has been reduced to for O'Reilly? Olbermann is right, Fox News Channel has truly become the 'Fox Nothing Channel'.
This is the first I've heard of this segment. Has it been 'fair and balanced'? Do they poke fun at how Republicans move as well?
This can't be the Bill O'Reilly of Fox News because that Bill O'Reilly says he doesn't name call.... Right.
"I didn't say she was a zombie, I said she looked like a zombie. Ergo, I didn't name call. Next question."-bill O'give me a break
Kinda hard for a "zombie" to "stick a knife in Barack Obama's back", methinks . . .
If someone in the media said that Bush looked like a zombie,Bill would be screaming,Bombthrower, slander, just another example of the media hating on Bush, etc.
Georgie Boy would have to show just a bit more concern for his fellow citizens to even be in the same league as a zombie. But he's neck and neck with the zombies in the intellect department.
You know what a vegetarian zombie says?
"GRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSS!"
It is incredible that people will listen to and believe this bull from him and his fake psychic. Even Jeanne Moos of CNN pointed out in one of her hilarious spots that they were all given copies of the SOUA just before Bush spoke. Hillary wasn’t a zombie. McCain was not asleep. They were reading along with the speech. Did his expert mention that? How stupid are his fans?
I didn't even realize that. They had the English version, and were reading what Bush was trying to say.
Plus, did you notice the body language expert was 'reading' peoples body language while they were in slow-motion -- truly unbelievable stupid
whereas... Bush looked like a total doofus, as always...
