On the February 5 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage played a pre-recorded interview with InsightMag.com editor Jeffrey Kuhner, in which Kuhner discussed the controversy surrounding InsightMag.com's January 17 report claiming that "researchers connected to" Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) disclosed that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) "spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia." During the interview, Kuhner asserted that the "Clinton people are livid at the Obama camp" because Obama "has been able to raise money from the Hollywood liberal Jewish set that has been strongly backing the Clintons, and he is tapping into their donor base," adding that the Clinton camp "know[s] that the Muslim card ... is going to hurt Obama with a lot of these prominent liberal Jews out in Hollywood." He went on to call Clinton "the most dangerous" and "the most evil politician in America today."

Kuhner also continued to defend InsightMag.com's January 17 article and claimed that "the people who are close to the Clinton campaign" -- "the best political operators that money can buy" -- were behind the debunked allegations that Obama attended a madrassa, and "they wanted to discredit Insight because they are stunned and amazed how we're able to get this kind of intimate access into the Clinton campaign and their strategy." Kuhner further claimed that "what we reported at Insight was 110 percent accurate."

As Media Matters for America documented, the smear against Obama has been discredited, and, as ABC News reported, the accusation that Clinton is responsible for the smear "remains unproven and unsubstantiated" as well.

From the February 5 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

KUNHER: I think, Michael, what a lot of people are appreciating about Insight -- like us or hate us -- you know -- love us or think ill of us -- we stand our ground, we stand behind our story, and we are not going to kowtow to the liberal media establishment.

And, you know, as I said to [New York Times reporter] David Kirkpatrick at least a half a dozen times over two conversations, and as I mentioned again in the commentary piece, what we reported at Insight was 110 percent accurate, and what we reported was that the Hillary camp was conducting a background investigation into Obama's Muslim background as a young boy in Indonesia and that the Hillary campaign, they had concluded through their investigators that Obama in fact was raised and educated as a Muslim and that the narrative that he has been spinning to the American people now for the last couple years -- that he was raised in a secular household in a non-religious home -- is false.

SAVAGE: Wow, that's something.

[...]

KUNHER: And what our sources have shown to us is -- told us and, through very sort of meticulous work, what our sources have been able to discover, is that really Hillary's people were behind the liberal media's smear campaign against Insight.

[...]

KUHNER: I know the people who are close to the Clinton campaign. They are the best political operators that money can buy, and what you saw with this orchestrated campaign against Insight is classic Clinton at work.

What they did was, they immediately -- once they were pre-empted on the story, once they found out that we had broken the story, and that people like you picked up the story -- they went to their media allies and they constructed this narrative of Obama going to a madrassa -- the story is false.

SAVAGE: That's incredible.

KUNHER: And they did it, really, for three goals in mind -- and it was really a brilliant strategy on their part.

One is, they made sure that the Muslim background madrassa angle to the story was repeated and perpetrated out there. And as my sources have told me -- people close to the Clinton campaign -- the reason why they did that is they still want that question mark about Obama's background out there and, in particular, what the Clinton people are livid at the Obama camp, is that Obama has been able to raise money from the Hollywood liberal Jewish set that has been strongly backing the Clintons, and he is tapping into their donor base. And they know that the Muslim card is going to hurt her -- is going to hurt Obama with a lot of these prominent liberal Jews out in Hollywood.

Secondly, not only did they want to hurt Obama, they wanted also to present Hillary as the victim of a right-wing smear campaign. So, she comes across as the victim in all of this even though it was her group and her operators and her investigators that were digging up dirt on Obama.

And three, they wanted to discredit Insight because they are stunned and amazed how we're able to get this kind of intimate access into the Clinton campaign and their strategy. So, really, what the Clintons did was again -- and you saw this throughout the 1990s with her husband Bill -- is brilliantly orchestrate a media campaign, where literally black becomes white, and they control the spin and the narrative, and it was really a brilliant triple-bumper shot: Obama is damaged; she's presented as the victim; and Insight looks, or at least it's spun, in the liberal media, as being sort of orchestrating a right-wing hit piece on Hillary.

[...]

KUHNER: And what you're now seeing with this attempt to discredit Insight's story is just how devious and how Machiavellian the Clintons can be. And that's why I've been warning my conservative friends and some of my Republican sources on the hill, not to underestimate Hillary Clinton.

She is the most dangerous, and I believe the most evil politician in America today.

Not that I think there is any rationality to these comments, but what on Earth has Hillary done to warrant the"evil" label? This is a real question, I literally don't get this. She's only been a Senator for a few years, and her votes have all been pretty middle-of-the-road.

The right is especially livid with her because she refused to divorce Bill like they wanted when they forced his sexual escapades into the open. That is where the charge that she is hungry for power and is willing to do anything to get it comes from.

You know, I never did buy into the rumor that John McCain actually did have a gay affair with his 14 year-old nephew following his release from a Viet Namese prison camp.  I think George HW Bush planted this evil story back in the late 80's to prevent McCain from getting a toe-hold in national politics.  There is simply no truth to it -  JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT A INCESTUOUS CHILD MOLESTER!  You hear that?:  MCCAIN IS NOT A PERVERT.  I cannot say it enough times to get this point across.  He is a good man.  He should not be smeared by propagandists as a SLIMEY FUDGE-PACKING TOT-CHASER.

I hope that clears things up.

Like I said before - there is no truth to it.  Readers of this blog - will you please help me spread the word:  MCCAIN IS NOT A PERVERT.  HE NEVER HAD AN AFFAIR WITH A 14 YEAR-OLD BOY WHO WAS HIS NEPHEW.  If this hogwash ever got around, McCain could be finished in politics.  And it doesn't matter which side you are on - good god-loving Republican, or Commie Atheist Pinko Lib - it wouldn't be fair to McCain for this rumor to be spread.  Therefore, I think we should all yell from the highest mountain-tops:  JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT A CHILD SCREWING PERVERT!  I think that over the next two years we should take every opportunity we get in the media to point out this fact.

bill patterson is someone who carried the "nuclear football", the nuclear launch codes. there are five people who do this at any one time. patterson served with clinton from may 96 to may 98, and wrote a book about clinton called "dereliction of duty", in which patterson greatly exaggerated his role.  he was one of the main sources for cyrus nowrasteh, the writer of abc's liefest "the path to 9-11". nowrasteh claimed that the 9-11 report "only goes back to 1998". a total lie. patterson has claimed that clinton refused to give an order to attack bin ladin in 1996, but he wrote in his book that the incident in question concerned iraq, not bin ladin. another right wing liar.

What I love about this pieces is Savage's rapt admiration of Kuhner as he spews forth another bucketful of lies. "Wow, that's something.. that's incredible.." Sounds like Savage is completely stunned at his own personal inadequacy compared to the manly and virile Kuhner. Hahaha. Anyway, Kuhner is trying to have it both ways by saying that Hillary has "the best political operatives money can buy," and "Machiavellian and devious," yet Insight was still somehow able to infiltrate the Clinton camp despite all of this. I'm sorry but if what Kuhner is saying is actually true then the Clinton people are a sorry assemblage of political bunglers that the right should fear not at all. Just another instance of right-wing media trying to get Americans to swallow another set of contradictory lies.

Kuhner further claimed that "what we reported at Insight was 110 percent accurate."

I always question the accuracy of people who don't understand percentages.

I have to say, in the same way I'm strangely impressed by cults and scam artists who manage to get followers with the most over-the-top BS, Insight is in a league of their own.

the Muslim angle, the prominent liberal Jew angle, and smearing Hillary Clinton , accusing her of smearing Obama, and accusing her of trying to portray herself as a victim in the whole thing, all rolled into one big ball of dung.

I hear tactics like this, and when Savage or the other talkers take a phone call proving that there are people swallowing it, they must just be sitting n the studio bug-eyed, thinking "did we pull this off?"

I hate to say it about my fellow Americans, but that must be quite a feeling of job security, having that audience.Impossible to underestimate.

George Walker Bush - you know, the guy with the same middle name as one of the worst traitors in American history - got elected president after a lifetime of mediocrity and failure after failure in business, and after six years as a do-nothing, part-time governor.
