On the March 2 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, after he was reportedly dropped by Hollywood's Creative Artists Agency (CAA) following comments attacking singer and CAA client Melissa Etheridge for thanking her wife during her Academy Awards acceptance speech, Michael Savage continued his attack on Etheridge. As Media Matters for America documented, on the February 26 broadcast of his show, Savage asserted -- in response to Etheridge's speech -- that homosexual marriage "makes me want to puke" and said that married gay couples' raising of children amounts to "child abuse." On March 2, Savage called Etheridge a "hack" and said, "I find it nauseating, the idea of a woman saying 'my wife.' " He also repeated his attack on gay parenting: "I'll repeat it again: The idea of two women who are so-called married raising children, I think it's child abuse." Savage also said of Etheridge: "She didn't have to rub it in our face. She had no obligation to make us all listen to her agenda." Savage added, "Right now, the Caesars of Hollywood -- and I don't mean Sid Caesar -- the Caesars of Hollywood are so drunk with their power that they feel they've got nothing to lose by rubbing their agenda in everybody's face."

Although Savage did not mention the status of his CAA representation during the March 2 broadcast, he did portray himself as a victim of "this new McCarthyism": "We live in a free country. And I will not cater, and I will not kowtow to McCarthyism. Right now, the radical left are the so-called McCarthyites of today. ... If someone does not conform to the standards of this new McCarthyism, they do not work in Hollywood. They do not write a script, the script doesn't get published, the movie doesn't get made. The people are thrown off the air because we're living in a new sort of McCarthyism, but much worse." Savage added, "[The radical left] are the fascists that they feared all their lives, and they have become the fascists. And nobody will stand up to them. Nobody." He went on to say: "I stood up, and I stood up for you -- the people who feel the way I do. And that's all there is to it. And now we can move on."

Savage later referred to the "Pink Hand of Hollywood" that "control[s] virtually everything that is heard in the media" -- a reference to the purported "homosexual mafia," which Savage has claimed is responsible for "control[ing] virtually everything that you read, everything that you see, everything that you hear, [and] everything that you wear."

The Savage Nation reaches more than 8 million listeners each week, according to Talkers Magazine, making it the third-most-listened-to talk radio show in the nation, behind only The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Sean Hannity Show.

From the March 2 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: Now, Hollywood, which consists largely of high school dropouts who are either pretty boys or slutty girls who have gotten very rich very fast, but they're idiots, they're Hollywood idiots, how can they know what's going on if they don't know who they are?

So they believe a guy like Al Gore. To him -- oh, Al Gore says it, it must be true. So then they get this hack, Maria [sic] Etheridge, whoever she is, who hasn't had a hit in years, to write a song for his pseudo-documentary, An Inconvenient Lie [sic: Truth]. And then they all give each other awards last Sunday night, and they love each other, with the lovefest.

That's all well and good. Any industry can have a lovefest. It can be a garbage man's convention, it could be a hooker's convention, or it could be the Academy Awards, it's all about the same. And it's a free country. If you want to give yourself an award, you can do so.

But when you see a nation filled with gullible fools, and you see this con man Al Gore selling global warming, and then he's setting up this thing called carbon offsets. And he owns the company. He's the CEO of the company that receives the carbon payments.

I can only think of P.T. Barnum, who said, "A sucker is born every minute." So play the circus music now in honor of Al Gore-leone and the tens of millions of liberal fools who believe in him.

[...]

SAVAGE: Then there was this case of this woman, really, who I really have heard of from time to time -- who gets up and says she thanks her wife. I find it nauseating, and I said that. Play it again. Play this Etheridge [unintelligible].

ETHERIDGE [audio clip]: I have to thank my incredible wife, Tammy, and our four children --

SAVAGE: All right, I find it nauseating. Turn it off. Now, I said that on Monday, that I find it nauseating, the idea of a woman saying "my wife." She didn't have to rub our face in it. She had no obligation to make us all listen to her agenda.

But, you see, the idolaters have gotten so emboldened in their power, and their power madness, that they exemplify Lord Acton's comment that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Right now, the Caesars of Hollywood -- and I don't mean Sid Caesar -- the Caesars of Hollywood are so drunk with their power that they feel they've got nothing to lose by rubbing their agenda in everybody's face.

Now, I'm one of the few people out there who see it for what it is. I'm not the only one who sees it, rather. I'm one of the few people in the media, maybe the only one, who will even mention what I find to be disgusting. I find it nauseating, and I'll repeat it again: The idea of two women who are so-called married raising children, I think it's child abuse.

And as far as I know, it's not illegal to have that opinion. In fact, everywhere that homosexual marriage was raised as an issue, it was rejected by the people. The only people who won't acknowledge that it's nauseating to most people are the folks pushing that agenda and, of course, the media and the politicians who are afraid of them.

But I fear nothing, to be honest with you. We live in a free country. We're not living in Iraq, where a temple is blown up by a man from the same religion. We live in a free country. And I will not cater, and I will not kowtow to McCarthyism.

Right now, the radical left are the so-called McCarthyites of today. Instead of the Black Hand, so to speak, instead of the red-baiting, what we have today is the pink-baiting. And what we have now is the Pink Hand of Hollywood and elsewhere controlling virtually everything that is heard in the media.

If someone does not conform to the standards of this new McCarthyism, they do not work in Hollywood. They do not write a script, the script doesn't get published, the movie doesn't get made. The people are thrown off the air because we're living in a new sort of McCarthyism, but much worse, for the reason that McCarthy was 100 percent right. There really were communists in the government and elsewhere, he was right about it, while these people are simply little mini dictators. They are the fascists that they feared all their lives, and they have become the fascists. And nobody will stand up to them. Nobody.

And unless you stand up to them as you have done at the polls -- you did so when homosexual marriage was put up before you. You said "no" to homosexual marriage. They're shopping it to a judge as I sit here. They're constantly swarming around the judges, trying to force it down your throat, and everywhere you turn, in every movie, the entire Oscar ceremony was given over solely to this agenda. They decided this was the time to push it down the throats of America.

I stood up, and I stood up for you -- the people who feel the way I do. And that's all there is to it. And now we can move on.

I love the way Savage compares his leftie loons to McCarthy, but then forgets that that's a good thing for him so he has to qualify his statements and defend him. It's hilarious. This guy's obviously brain dead-- something that is easily revealed when you talk off the top of your head.

As for McCarthy being 100% right...

"Suspicions were often given credence despite inconclusive or questionable evidence, and the level of threat posed by a person's real or supposed leftist associations or beliefs was often greatly exaggerated. Many people suffered loss of employment, destruction of their careers, and even imprisonment. Most of these punishments came about through trial verdicts that would later be overturned,[1] laws that would later be declared unconstitutional,[2] dismissals for reasons that would be later declared illegal[3] or actionable,[4] or extra-legal procedures that would later come into general disrepute."

        - from Wikipedia

There were some communists in America, but McCarthy was 100% wrong on the extent as evidenced by facts that later surfaced. But let him cry. Heck, since it was republicans that destroyed so many lives and reputations under McCarthy, I'd say it's only fair to see a "right back at ya!" done to Savage and his ilke.

Mooner, you must realize the nature of your declaration about "free speech." Our constitution recognizes our Right to speak freely without government authorities tracking us down like dogs to be thrown in jail.

The Right to speak freely does not recognize my Right to speak to another in any way I choose without being challenged. Your suggestion that we turn off the radio runs counter to free exchange of speech we Americans enjoy. It would be like you telling me to leave the street corner if I don't wish to hear you hurling invective at me and all those around us. No, that is not my only alternative if I think you should be challenged for what you say. My Right to refute what you say is as legitimate as your Right to say whatever you wish.

So, no, this is not a Second Amendment issue, whereby Savage gets a pass and we malcontents must turn away from and ignore him.

Whenever I hear someone blast another with: "Hey, if ya don't like what ya hear just shut up and get out of here." I think that person doesn't have the right to establish rules for me...unless I'm in his home. When I choose to listen to Savage's drivel in my home I may wish to shout at the radio and vent later on Media Matters or not turn on the his show at all.

I offer more choices than those, such as yourself. You suggest limiting my choices and, well, that's un-American.

OK, so let me understand something. Savage is a self-admitted brilliant man. When he sat down with his loiya, or maybe not, and the folks at CAA they were there to negotiate the contract between Savage and CAA.

So far so good. If this Savage clown is so smart, observant, intuitive, street wise and brilliant in the use of logic, how come he didn't pick up on these CAA McCarthyites? How could he get bamboozled by these gay mafia charlatans? Could he not look the CAA reps in the eye and sense they were not trustworthy? Could it be that the Hollywood scum are much smarter than he?

So, now he gets dumped at the dance and looks oh so stupid and what does this so called RESPONSIBLE ULTRA CONSERVATIVE do? He plays the victim!! All of a sudden he's the illegal border crosser! All of a sudden he's the Black man complaining that The Man ain't givin' no brotha a break ! It's not Savage who won't admit he stuck his foot in his mouth, oh no. And, he only sticks to his opinion about Etheridge because he has to. He can not back track for a do-over and exclaim he's "an entertainer, I do shtick, I was joking, I loose my temper...you know me, I'm a pussy cat inside..." Well, Weiner, you play you pay.

"There's a Sucker Born Every Minunte: Gore's Carbon Offsets Paid to a Company  He owns"

I emailed the Savage crew but I guess they're not taking any mail from me. Stupid people. "Brilliant" Savage, can't even spell.

Some of Michael Savage's friends should perform an intervention on his behalf because his mental condition is obviously deteriorating quickly. The paranoid delusions are not an encouraging sign. I sincerely hope Mr. Savage has good health care insurance that provides mental health coverage...

I find it ironic (once again) that pathetic hate-mongering losers like Michael Savage are passing judgment on a great artist like Melissa Etheridge.  This is an outstanding singer and songwriter.  She survived breast cancer, inspiring women all over the world in facing a horrible disease, and continues to round out her distinguished career in music, winning a grammy in 1992 and again 1994 as well as an academy award for her music for "Inconvenient Truth".

Only the worst of right-wing hate mongerers like Michael Savage would smear someone like Melissa Etheridge, an amazingly talented and intelligent woman that has injured nobody.  That fact that he doesn't even know who she is proves that he has only recently crawled out from under his rock.

Liberals want to ban guns incrementally. It's clear that liberal politicians and the liberal media want this.

"Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of Americans to feel safe."-Senator Dianne Feinstein

"Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a Socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." - Sarah Brady

"Passing a law like the assault weapons ban is a symbolic, purely symbolic move. ... Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation." - Charles Krauthammer "Disarm the Citizenry," Washington Post, Apr. 5, 1996

"My bill ... establishes a 6-month grace period for the turning in of all handguns." Major Owens, US Representative

"In fact, only police, soldiers -- and, maybe, licensed target ranges -- should have handguns. No one else needs one." - Michael Gartner, president of NBC News

"The Constitution is a radical document... it is the job of the government to rein in people's rights." - Bill Clinton (Wait. I thought that libs were for freedom.)

"And it never, ever was interpreted that the Second Amendment meant individual's right to bear arms" - Rosie O'Donnell, Million Mom March speaker and talk show host

"I know it's in the Constitution. But you know what? Enough! I would like to say, I think there should be a law--and I know this is extreme--that no one can have a gun in the U.S. If you have a gun, you go to jail. Only the police should have guns. It's ridiculous." - Rosie O'Donnell

"I don't care if you want to hunt, I don't care if you think it's your right. I say, sorry, you are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun I think you should go to prison." - Rosie O'Donnell (Yup. Left wingers can be fascists.)

“I don't care about crime, I just want to get the guns.” - Howard Metzenbaum, US Senator

“If it were up to me we'd ban them all [guns]” - Mel Reynolds, US Representative

Savage is correct in his assertion that Jimmy Carter is a Nazi. That is most definitely true. The truth annoys liberals. Savage is also organizing a "manmade global warming skeptics conference" which will feature prominent scientists who will debunk Al Gore's lies. Btw, Gore is not a scientist. God bless America. Did you not say "we live in a free country".  That means Americans have the freedom of choice.  They can chose who they want to love, and certainly, if they win an award, they can thank who ever they chose.  No, you do not have to listen to Etheridge thank her wife, and we sure as hell don't need to listen to your homophobic views.  Pehaps, you should wake up, and realize that this is the world we live in today.  Two women raising children is child abuse.  You just verbally abused Etheridge.  What makes you any better???? I'm so glad I live in Canada, because Canada is a free country, it allows individuals to be who they truly are.  They do not encourage lying and hiding your real self.  Everything you had to say I found revolting and discusting.  You are just as abusive as you claim Melissa and Tammy to be.  Get a grip, homosexuality is here, and it will always be.  So instead of making your life miserable, just accept it.
