Where is the feminist movement on this? Racist yes, but also hideously sexist. This is got to stop, he's a nut with a mic.
This guy wouldn't have an audience if it weren't for left-wingers who like to rub elbows with what they consider "bad boys". Liberal media glorify the guy as "irreverant". That's a laugh. I'm a conservative, and I watched this guy for a few minutes about 3 years ago. Haven't watched the garbage since. I just heard what the stupid bstrd said about a really terrific bunch of ball players (I'm from Tennessee, by the way), so I am checking it out. It is really funny to see all the liberals posting negative comments about the guy. Apparently they are the only ones watching the jerk. Hey! Use your remote. You own it. Turn the guy off and he will go away. NBC is not into "freebies".
The question I have is, why is MediaMatters paying so much attention to it, outside of the fact that it's a big media story?
My understanding of MMA's mission is to "truth-squad" the news-and-commentary media, not be the "language police" for a morning show host's stupid comments. When Imus or one of his guests dumps on Hillary or spreads some baloney about Al Gore or just says something incorrect, that's when MMA should care. And in the past, when that has happened, the coverage is appropriate.
But stupid outbursts like this one? With infinitesimal political content? What's next, MMA worrying about "South Park" saying "sh*t" 162 times? (Or, in that same episode, the scene where Mr. Garrison claims it's OK to say "f*gg*t" if you're gay?)
Stick to focusing on the lies. There's still plenty to keep you occupied there.
I am one of the legion of Don Imus fans. He made an error while using his quick wit, and it backfired. He apologized. Over & over again. OK! Get on with your lives. This is a very decent man. Anyone who spends mornings being entertained & educated by the Imus in the Morning Show knows the heart of the I Man. I met him at a book signing when he was several hours into signings & very tired. Upon telling him that my son was a Marine, he filled out the first page of the book with more than necessary gracious comments to my son. Mr. Imus has a ranch for cancer & SIDS kids & rallies around health causes along with his wife Deirdre. This show is a gem & any of the spineless people for whom he has created a living, and who have not stayed by him should be ashamed. As far as the Revs Sharpton & Jackson, WOW, do you think we don't know who you fella's are? What plagues crept into your lives? Get over yourselves. Don't judge & forgive all. Isn't that what Jesus said? Be careful Sirs. You don't want this to be misconstrued as racism do you? Thank you
Saying your sorry is not like a confession. Imus has done this for years...he is only sorry about someone finally calling him on it.
I can't believe this crap. I don't care that this creep has a ranch for cancer. He IS a cancer. Anybody who can refer to decent hard working women with a crude out-and-out racist and mysoginist term should be canned.
It is not a matter of changing the channel. Americans should care about what is said on TV/radio. I am completely opposed to censorship, but the business management at MSNBC doesn't have to give radio time to this wannbe klansman. The guy runs a radio show. Clearly he has influence. He gives the racist and sexist language legitimacy. That's the problem here. Kids in high school listen to this crap and then they figure its ok to call a woman a "ho" or blacks as "nappy heads". Is this the kind of country we want to live in? The fact that he was only suspended shows how cowardly the management is at MSNBC.
Imus smells like roses now compared to the disproportionate hate directed back at him, not to mention the pathetic milking of the situation by Rutgers and the media.
