On the June 5 broadcast of San Francisco radio station KSFO's The Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Program, co-host Lee Rodgers said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's "spike-heeled boots" make her look "like the hostess at an S&M parlor." The remark came during a conversation with conservative commentator and former H.W. Bush official Jed Babbin, who screamed on air when Rodgers mentioned a rumor that possible Republican presidential candidate and former Sen. Fred Thompson (TN) is considering Rice as a running mate.

From the June 5 broadcast of KSFO's The Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Program:

RODGERS: By the way, the other day, we did a few minutes on the air with a guy -- the Nashville broadcaster who did the first political book of the season on Fred Thompson -- and he said one of the names under consideration as a possible running mate is Condi Rice.

BABBIN: (screams) Ahhhhh!

RODGERS: Oh my God! Oh, please.

TOM BENNER (aka "Officer Vic"): Oh dear!

BABBIN: (screams) Ahhhhhh!

RODGERS: Geez. No, with --

OFFICER VIC: Heart attack on the air, live!

RODGERS: Yeah. Fred, for god sakes, don't even think about it.

BABBIN: Yeah, please.

RODGERS: The woman has morphed into Madeline Halfbright and in those spike-heeled boots of hers, she looks like the hostess at an S&M parlor. We don't -- no.

BABBIN: No, it's -- it's not even any of those things. The fact is she has kind of morphed into "Madeline the short" and the fact is that the best thing that we could do was -- would be to put pretty much everybody, other than a couple of my favorites, on the shelf out of the Bush administration. I keep telling you, the only way to win guys, Rumsfeld/Bolton in '08.

I see he also got in his hate about Albright who was a great Sec of State despite the Republican lie. Rice is a republican but it is clear she is being attacked because she is a women and black. Why she is a Republican is beyond me, she is a traitor to her own people.

I'm black and I don't consider her a traitor to her own people. I do question her judgement.

I do think she is being unfairly attacked. If Delay or RUmsfield had been SOSand considered for VP they'd be even worse and yet theyed cheerlead him like they do all of the good ol' boys.

          Monk,

Thanks for voicing that sentiment. I've never understood that "traitor to their own people" stuff when someone Black happens to be a Republican. To me that has always sounded insulting, like African-Americans must all think alike & can't have individual opinions.

Questioning her judgment is one thing, calling her a "traitor" to her people is quite another.

I also have to disagree with my good friend Evil. Condi should be judged on who she is, not her color.  I do not like the reference made that she is a "traitor" to her people. After all we are all Americans.

              DORIS:

I agree, Rice should be judged by her ACTIONS.

As head of national security, she allowed 9/11 to happen, and we keep discovering ... despite stonewalling efforts of the Bush Administration ... that she had all kinds of warnings, and did NOTHING.

Then she shifts to a job calling for DIPLOMACY, for an Administration that considers diplomacy to be weakness, appeasement, and wasted effort. So again, she is EXPECTED to do NOTHING.

If ever America needs someone to do NOTHING ... when the world is going to hell in a handcart and is screaming for positive action ... the RICE is the perfect person. She is worthless (although I hear that, like Nero fiddling while Rome burned, she can play some pretty good concert piano).

There was a time when I couldn't fathom why a black person could become a republican and it complete has everything to do with where I grew up. I got older, I got wiser. I'm no fan of the GOP for my own reasons, but we all (Blacks) don't thinkin lockstep. It's not fair to trash "all" Repbublicans just like it's not fair to trash "all" Democrats.

Well said.  Now is the time, for me at least, to wonder why anyone becomes a member of these two overgrown poltical parties anymore?

They rarely appeal to our better nature and positivity anymore, instead they pander and whore themselves out to voters telling them what they want to hear and believe, and trash their opponents through slimy irrelevancies.

It is so time for a third party who tells it like it is, is straight and acts like an adult with voters and treats us with respect and honesty.  All the R's and D's want is power and position..........I am done with both of them.

I think this comment is unfair.  The Dems as a whole are struggling to find a way to overcome a veto.  They work in an arena where half of the body will stonewall their efforts.  I wouldn't choose to work in that type of body but I'm glad some are willing to do so.

It's certainly fair to criticise the two parties and to work outside the two party machines but it is also I think important to make a positive difference as you do that, not just take pot shots from the sidelines.

I believe they were elected with a mandate to do their damnest to straighten out the messes Bush and the Republican-led Congress made. That includes ending the war in the best way possible. I don't agree that they were elected to end the war immediately. Most Americans want the war to end. Most don't want to do that in a stupid way.

You can't point me to a single Democratic proposal that says that they want to fund it forever. Reality is a bummer at times, and reality is that they cannot overcome a veto with the votes they have currently. Democrats cannot do exactly what they want to do because our form of government has checks and balances in it!

The Democrats have not stabbed anyone in the back. That's your bias coloring your worldview.

Evil, I too don't think Rice is a traitor to her race. We come as a diverse race of people. Rice was raised as a Republican when her father was also a Republican. The party at that time held to old Lincoln beliefs and is no way the party they are now.

I'm sad that Rice has allowed her love for Junior to cloud any type of "common sense" however I still have a small amout of respect for her. A very very very small amount.

Am I the only one more shocked with the "only way to win guys, Rumsfeld/Bolton in '08" part than the S&M mistress part? Come one, if you've paid attention, you'd know that any woman in a position of power will be smeared and marginalized. It's been noted pretty thoroughly here, that strong men are "tough" and strong women are "bitches", that men have arguments and women have cat fights, etc.

No kidding right? That would be the most severe landslide in the history of politics for the democrats if you ran those 2 idiots together. This really shows that our right wing talk show bretheren have ultimately lost their minds, I mean, as if that was in doubt most of the time. But Rumsfeld / Bolton 2008? Talk about living in Kool Aid land. Those 2 together couldn't muster more than 15% of the vote I would guess, if that. They are 2 of the most despised men in politics.

It's actually moderately amusing.  "Madeline Halfbright" sounds like something Limbaugh would say, full of himself (and probably did).  The notion that anyone from the Bush administration has lost all credibility is spot on, though.  The Rumsfeld/Bolton ticket idea is obviously a JOKE!
