Hannity gets "Worst Person" runner-up for saying that Whitewater, Vince Foster death are "chapters remaining open"

On the July 19 edition of MSNBC's Countdown, host Keith Olbermann named Fox News host Sean Hannity the "runner-up" in his nightly "Worst Person in the World" segment for comments Hannity made during the "Clinton Chapters" segment of the July 15 edition of Fox News' Hannity's America, in which, as Media Matters for America documented, Hannity asserted that "there are still many chapters remaining open from [Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-NY)] time at the Rose Law Firm. Take Whitewater and the death of Vince Foster." Olbermann responded: "No, there aren't. That's what the last of three special prosecutors concluded after six years and $60 million spent investigating her." Indeed, Foster's death has been conclusively determined to have been a suicide, and after extensive investigations, three different Republican independent counsels determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring any charges against the Clintons in the Whitewater matter.

As Media Matters has noted (here, here, and here), Olbermann has frequently named Hannity in his "Worst Person" segment. For instance, on June 18, Olbermann named Hannity the "winner" of the segment for claiming to be "frustrated" by purported differences between the Democratic and Republican presidential debates: "The Democrats don't get the questions on partial-birth abortion or asked if they've read the National Intelligence Estimate [NIE]. It seems like the Republicans are getting more scrutiny." In fact, as Media Matters for America noted, Democratic candidates were asked questions on those very issues during the Democratic candidates' April 26 and June 3 debates.

From the July 19 edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann:

OLBERMANN: Runner-up tonight, Sean Hannity. As if the Pentagon threat against Senator Clinton were not enough, he says of her, "There are still many chapters remaining open from her time at the Rose Law Firm, take Whitewater and the death of Vince Foster." No, there aren't. That's what the last of three special prosecutors concluded after six years and $60 million spent investigating her.

If there are still many chapters remaining open for Senator Clinton, then you can just as easily say that for Mr. Hannity. There are still many chapters remaining open from the time you were accused of being a human replicant built and programmed by Halliburton.

Yeah but MMFA didn't cover Tom Delay. So no point in MMFA giving Keith a thread for that one.

See Keith only gets his own thread when he repeats/mimics his buddies here at MMFA.

MMFA already covered Hannity. Keith gives Hannity an award. Keith gets a thread.

I'm guessing MMFA didn't cover The Hammer because the only place you can see it is Max Blumenthal's video "Generation Chickenhawk".  Perhaps MMFA's scope of "U.S. Media" does not include internet films by bloggers.

MMFA probably didn't cover DeLay's stupid remarks because although he's a low-life scumbag, he's not part of the media.  Since Hannity IS both a low-life scumbag AND part of the media, he gets covered by MMFA.

              J,

You're right of course, all their whining is just gravy.

But I say this, why do those that agree 100% with the thread topics here, which is most posters here I believe, bother to read the comments section at all?  I say, if you are so afraid and threatened of an opposing opinion, steer clear of the comments section and save yourself the grief. You get all you want from the meat in the topic here without risking your viewpoint gets challenged, refrain from clicking that SHOW button and breathe easier.

In other words, stop trying to tell us how to run our opinionated comments - they are ours, not yours......nanananana.

This has been explained to you before.

When the person highlighted in Keith Olbermann's WPITW segment is in the media, then MMfA covers it. When his WPITW is not in the media, they don't.

tommy nobody is afraid to have their "viewpoint challenged".   if that is what you are getting out of this, then it shows how seriously uncomprehending you are.   the point would be the endless obsession of yourself and others with "why is this here?".    perhaps the question to be asked of your endless puzzlement is "why are you here?"

Exactly, Mefirst. I appreciate the functioning conservative posters here, and that includes Tommy when he's at his best, and not having a "crazy day".

I also get a lot out of the comments, as long as they're opinions about the topic, related topics, or even wild tangents that are interesting or amusing.

I don't think I have any fear of opposing viewpoints, but it gets pretty rough on the scrolling/page down finger to wade through 75 out of the 200 comments from one poster declaring his lack of interest in the subject.

I can't imagine spending that much time at any place that I found completely meaningless.

Oh Yeah, Jeter is a reactionary troll, Nazi, and has been seen at Yankees fabulous hat day. with Tommy. ;0)

                Here's a clue, Tommy:

Accusing someone of a crime, an accusation that has been thouroughly debunked, is called SLANDER. MMFA would be shirking it's duty if they let it slide unnoticed.

What exactly is your "opposing opinion" on this topic. "Why is this here?" is not an opposing opinion, and it's certainly not one that anyone here feels the slightest bit threatened by. Annoyed by, yes. Threatened? Hardly.

If you had an ounce of self-awareness or shame, you wouldn't be accusing anyone of whining. Your opposing opinions on the subject of Hannity's false accusations toward the Clintons are more than welcome. I look forward to seeing you post them.

Actually Scooter, I love these Keith threads because they tend to veer off into one silly post after another.

I think MMFA puts them here to let us have some fun. ;-)

I can't think of any other reason outside of some sort of *deal* between Brock & Olbermann.

If the hammered-to-death, closed Foster case is still vague only to the Repubs, then logically we should revisit the Clinton impeachment.

When in the past 20 years have the Repubs ever stuck to logic? No wonder these crybabies are continually caught in hypocrisy. Can;t wait to hear what Flynt as to offer.

Completely different, Scooter. The Clinton case is closed. He raped hundreds of women and commited perjury by lying during his perjury trial, which was brought against him for commiting perjury during his perjury trial.

You're not watching enough Fox news.

A word about Hannity's inference that Clinton is connected with Foster's death would be too much to expect from a right-wing apologist.

You deserve the award. It's about time you were recognized for your "excellent" work on the Clintons. I will leave some black roses in your messy office upstairs.

The question right-wing commentators keep asking,  'Why is this here?',  seems plainly silly. Why are your comments here? Keith is doing a great job at injecting some substance into news, unlike Hannity--Mr. Freedom Concert, liberals not allowed to celebrate their freedoms. He's a  joke, worse than Billo, so I'm glad Keith saw fit to give it to ol' Seany-boy for a change. Go ahead, keep asking your question, then ask yourself why you are here and you might find the answer to both.

Again I will ask our Rightwingers, who think it "some sort of deal Brock has with Olbermann" to give his WPITW feature a thread here, POINT US TO ANY OTHER MEDIA entity which is doing the same thing.

Is there a wealth of OTHER media figures pointing out the idiocy and misinformation spouted by FOX and the others in Rightwing Media? If so, WHO ARE THEY? If Olbermann is the ONLY one doing this, then MMFA is consitently covering 100% of this sort of Media watchdog work. It's not MMFA's fault that NOBODY ELSE is doing this sort of expose'.

I could be wrong, though, so how about it, Rightwingers? List for us the mainstream media folks who are, like Olbermann, highlighting Rightwing misinformation on a national broadcast. And they must be people who MMFA DOES NOT FEATURE here.

If there are NONE, then it's no mystery why Olbermann seems to have an exclusive "tie-in" here; he's UNIQUE in the Media doing the same mission as MMFA's. Wouldn't it be great if there was a LOT of this sort of ridiculing of rightwing nonsense, so MMFA could cover all THAT?
