During the July 26 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly claimed to have "exposed" the Daily Kos blog "as a hate website" and went on to criticize the decision by some Democratic presidential candidates to attend the YearlyKos convention. In response, Fox News contributor Jane Hall said to him, "You had hateful comments on your website about [Sen.] Hillary Clinton [D-NY]." O'Reilly then claimed: "No, I didn't. We took them off." He later added, "That's a lie, and I can't let you say a lie on this broadcast." After cutting Hall's microphone, O'Reilly again asserted, "I can't let Jane lie. We don't allow hateful comments on BillOReilly.com. When they come up and we find them, we take them off." In fact, as of 5 p.m. ET on July 27, several comments about Clinton that were documented by Americablog (here, here, and here) remain on O'Reilly's website, including one that has led Huffington Post blogger Lane Hudson to ask for a Secret Service investigation:

O'Reilly also has not removed a comment from a user regarding Rep. Keith Ellison's (D-MN) comparison of the Bush administration's response to the September 11 attacks to the aftermath of the burning of the Reichstag in Germany in 1933. As Americablog documented, the user wrote: "Maybe it's time to burn down the capitol building like Hitler did with the Reichstag building? Anyone comparing Bush to Hitler has absolutely no idea of what real Nazis were like in the '30's. Ellison is an idiot."

As Media Matters for America noted, O'Reilly has continued to attack Daily Kos over the course of the past two weeks, comparing the blog to the Nazi party, the Ku Klux Klan, Mafia gangster Al Capone, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, and white supremacist David Duke while declining to address egregious comments on his own website. During the July 26 segment, O'Reilly agreed with Fox News contributor Bernard Goldberg's statement that the candidates' decision to attend the YearlyKos convention "is all you need to know about the strength of character, or more precisely, the lack of character of the Democratic candidates." Also, O'Reilly called Democratic presidential candidate and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson "the biggest coward in the world" for deciding to attend the convention.

From the July 26 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:

O'REILLY: Just a real quick -- I don't want to belabor this, but a week from today, the Democratic candidates for president will be heading to the Daily Kos convention. And as you know, we have exposed that place as a hate website. Jane still doesn't get it.

But what I am going to do, Jane? I mean, I can't come to your house. But I can tell you that last night, we ran a picture of President Bush that ran on the Daily Kos for three years. They took it off today, Bernie. Was that an accident they took that off?

GOLDBERG: No, of course not. I mean, let me make sure I understand this. The Democratic presidential candidates will go to this Daily Kos or YearlyKos convention and speak to the angriest activist core of the party, but they won't debate the issues on Fox News?

O'REILLY: Correct.

GOLDBERG: Why is that? Why is that?

O'REILLY: I don't know.

GOLDBERG: Because they're death -- I'll tell you why, because they're deathly afraid that the crazies in the Democratic Party will punish them if they come on Fox News. And this tells you --

O'REILLY: Well, that's what RealClearPolitics says. That's what -- there's an article today. That's what they said.

GOLDBERG: Yes, I know. And I think they're right. And this is all you need to know about the strength of character, or more precisely, the lack of character of the Democratic candidates --

O'REILLY: Oh, absolutely. I mean, look at --

GOLDBERG: -- who are terrified, terrified of the crazies in their party.

O'REILLY: They are -- they are absolutely terrified of them. And why? Go there, Jane, tonight, and see what they're saying about me right now.

HALL: OK, well, Bill, Bill --

O'REILLY: That's why. Well, hold it. You know, a guy like Richardson, the Governor Richardson of New Mexico, was treated so well not only on The Factor but by the whole network. And he's the biggest coward in the world.

And as soon as the far left tells him, "Don't you do that, don't you go on Fox News." "OK, I won't." OK, and this is a guy we want to go up against Al Qaeda, Jane? Yeah.

GOLDBERG: Yup. Exactly.

HALL: Well, you know, and I know there's that famous quote, you know, "If they can't face Fox News, can they face Al Qaeda?" That is a different issue. They should be on Fox News.

But again you are picking out -- I haven't seen this horrible -- you know, I've seen this photo that was taken down. You had hateful comments on your website about Hillary Clinton.

O'REILLY: No, I didn't. We took them off.

HALL: Yes, you did. You took them off? OK, they are not representative of your website, are they?

O'REILLY: Jane, Jane -- Jane, Jane -- that's a lie, and I can't let you say a lie.

HALL: You're misrepresenting the bulk of this website.

O'REILLY: Jane -- Jane. That's a lie, and I can't let you say a lie on this broadcast. We do not allow hateful comments.

HALL: There were comments you took off. My point is there are hateful comments on websites, Bill.

O'REILLY: We take them off. There were not. We take them off when they come on. All right, Jane.

Here's the truth. I can't let Jane lie. We don't allow hateful comments on BillOReilly.com. When they come up and we find them, we take them off. The instructions are you can't do it. That's it, Jane. All right. I'm sorry I had to be impolite. I cannot let you mislead our audience. We'll see you next week.

Billy won't allow hateful comments on BO.com, hel only allows that sort of thing on TV. As Keith Olberman said tonight; "If you can't stand up to Jane Hall, how can you stand up to AlQaida?"

Billy's just pizzed that the Dems boycotted the FOX "NEWS" debate, and this is his retrobution. It's funny watching a hate monger call everyone else hate mongers.

Hey! You used a profanity! Sure, you cleverly disguised it by using two Z's instead of the two S's that usually go in that word.

But I learned here during the past week or so that using profanity on a web site makes it a hate web site. Thanks for forever tarnishing this hallowed web presence as a hate site.

        Hate is hate, man!

Someone just needs to challenge O'reilly to an honest debate. In this case Richardson should tell bill that he will talk with him if its in a sort of press conference. Invite all the networks to come, this way the debate cant be attributed to one network. If they are able to attach the debate to a certain group they can distort that group, but if there is no group, they cant do anything to mislead. In an honest debate O'reilly can't use his bullying ways without showing the public what he actually is, a bully. This method should be used in all confrontations with the likes of O'reilly, Colter, Savage, etc. .

Yes, and, some of the most vulgar and hateful comments are on sites supporting Ann Coulter, but he says nothing. I imagine there is an endless supply of web sites with hateful comment sections, yet O'Reilly acts likes he is the moral compass......a broken one that points only to those he wants to detroy.

Bill feels he can say and do anything, and no one can point out the lies and contradictions, because he can simply cut off their mics, keep them off the show, or talk endlessly about them on his shows.

i've said it before. just out and out refusing to go on fox is a mistake, as you can see by some of the comments above. they're too afraid to face fox, how can they face al-qaeda. the debates i agree, don't go on them. but a blanket refusal to go on fox is counterproductive.

        I absolutely disagree!

        A) To appear on a forum in which you have no chance at fair treatment (Can anybody claim that turning off the mike of someone who has just made a telling - and true - point, then calling them a liar when their mike is off is fair treatment?) is just foolhardy.

        B) It provides legitimacy to the bully and liar who controls what gets aired. There are few Democrats who fear that fascist pervert in a fair forum. The BS Factor in no way provides that.

How pansy is that? I'm going to go and speak about things I believe in so whole heartedly that I'm running for president...but only in places where I know I will get treated fairly. Yeah, that is how the world works.

Personally, I blame Bill O'Reilly for having a website on the Internet. I mean, lets look at the facts here: the Internet is loaded with child perverts, pornography and all kinds of illicit behavior! And yet Bill O'Reilly chooses to have a website ON THE INTERNET OF ALL PLACES!

Implicit in O'Reilly's and Mr. Goldberg's comments is the fact that Fox News is a right-wing media outlet. They don't make sense if Fox is indeed f-and-b'ed.

Once again, Bill O'Lielly has exposed himself as a liar, a hypocrite, & a complete sociopath. His reaction to his exposure was to behave as we might expect a lying nine year old to. He angrily denied his guilt, & instead pointed an accusing finger at an innocent person.

If Jane Hall has even an ounce of pride & integrity she will resign her job as a Faux News 'contributer'. Bill 'Lielly has now PUBLICLY called her a LIAR... when she was demonstrably TELLING THE TRUTH... & then cut her mic so the she couldn't respond. He has DEGRADED her. He has HUMILIATED her. He has OPENLY attacked her CHARACTER. To continue working for such a vile, dishonest, & honorless man would demonstrate that she values a Newscorp paycheck over her own good name. Publicly resigning, however... & stating the reasons why... would show her to be a person of dignity & class.

O'Lielly, on the other hand, has again revealed himself to be a loathsome & manipulative thug who is beyond redemption.

He gives turds a bad name.

Can someone cite any other host, particularly a "Liberal" host, if one can find one with their own show, who either cuts someone's mic off when the truth is revealed, or tells his guests to shut up such as the cowardly O'Reilly has done countless times? Anyone who looks to O'Reilly for news or enlightment is more disturbed than O'Reilly. It's that simple.

Cite just one "Liberal" host, please?

O'Reilly finds an even lower low-point to hit. The unbelievable amount of hypocrisy, gall and deceit that he displays never ceases to amaze. Keeping in mind that this is Fox "News'" prime-time, premiere show--the broadcast that they apparently are most proud of--gives you an idea of the mentality that runs this right-wing propaganda network.

Can you really say to yourselves...the life style I live is directly in line with the morals of GOD. Because I see a world that is coming apart like it's heading for a black hole. All the people of the world, myself included had better start doing the right thing morally while we have the chance. It will happen naturally or forcefully, it is up to everyone to decide........
