CNN provided one Limbaugh explanation for "phony soldiers" remark, ignored his subsequent contradiction
On the October 19 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, national correspondent Susan Candiotti provided one of Rush Limbaugh's original explanations for his remarks characterizing U.S. service members who support U.S. withdrawal from Iraq as "phony soldiers," but she failed to note Limbaugh's subsequent, contradictory explanation of that comment. Describing the controversy surrounding Limbaugh's September 26 comments, Candiotti stated that Limbaugh "denied" he was "criticizing soldiers who are publicly opposed to the war," and "instead said that he was criticizing just one individual, someone who was actually convicted for pretending to be a soldier, who had bashed the war."
Indeed, on his September 28 nationally syndicated radio show, Limbaugh insisted he was "talking about one soldier with that 'phony soldier' comment, Jesse MacBeth." MacBeth pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for pretending to be an injured Iraq war veteran. Later in the September 28 broadcast, Limbaugh again asserted, "I was talking about one genuine, convicted, lying, fake soldier." But as Media Matters for America noted, Limbaugh actually referred to "phony soldiers," plural when he made the remark during his September 26 broadcast. Responding to a caller's statement that supporters of withdrawal "like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media," Limbaugh responded, "The phony soldiers" [emphasis added]. While Candiotti noted that Limbaugh had "used the term 'phony soldiers,' " she did not point out the contradiction.
Moreover, Candiotti did not mention that Limbaugh offered a different explanation later on his September 28 broadcast when a caller pointed out the contradiction. In response to a caller's question, "But you did say 'soldiers' in plural, though, didn't you?" Limbaugh asserted: "Yes, because there have been a number of these people, but they were not active duty -- I was not talking about anti-war, active duty troops. I was talking about people who've been exposed as frauds who never served in Iraq but claimed to have seen all these atrocities, [unintelligible]." And on October 2, Limbaugh described MacBeth as "the man I was referring to and others like him as 'phony soldiers.' " But those explanations were inconsistent with his earlier statements that he was referring to a single fake soldier. Indeed, the transcript (subscription required) of the September 28 broadcast that is posted on Limbaugh's website shows Limbaugh asserting: "I was talking about one soldier with that phony soldier comment, Jesse MacBeth" [emphasis in original].
On The Situation Room, host Wolf Blitzer also ignored Limbaugh's contradictory statements:
BLITZER: We'll see what the next fallout is. In fairness, though, to Rush Limbaugh, the "phony soldiers" comment followed a report on [World News with] Charlie Gibson on ABC News in which they did an extensive report on this one person who pretended to be a soldier -- really wasn't -- and Rush Limbaugh makes that point, which is a fair point. He was reacting to what [anchor] Charlie Gibson and what ABC News had done that whole report on. All right, we'll see what happens now.
Further, neither Candiotti nor Blitzer noted that Limbaugh did not mention MacBeth on his September 26 show until 1 minute and 50 seconds after making his "phony soldiers" comment. Nor did they note that on his September 28 show, Limbaugh played a selectively edited audiotape of his comments, removing 1 minute and 35 seconds of that 1 minute and 50 seconds, which made it appear as if he had mentioned MacBeth almost immediately after making his "phony soldiers" remark. Limbaugh introduced the audio clip by falsely claiming to be playing "the entire transcript, in context" for his audience and gave no indication that the audio had been edited in a way that falsely supported his assertion that his "phony soldiers" remark was a reference to MacBeth.
From the October 19 edition of CNN's The Situation Room:
CANDIOTTI: This is a letter that was written by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, and in this letter -- first of all, to say, the letter is signed not only by Reid, by 40 other senators as well, including presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and many, many others.
The dust-up started after Democrats publicly criticized Rush Limbaugh after he used the term "phony soldiers" on his radio show. They claim that Limbaugh was criticizing soldiers who are publicly opposed to the war, and Reid and others called it an outrage and demanded an apology. Well, Limbaugh denied that he was doing any such thing and instead said that he was criticizing just one individual, someone who was actually convicted for pretending to be a soldier, who had bashed the war.
Well, today, after this letter was auctioned on eBay and got a price of more than $2 million from a philanthropist by the name of Betty Casey, Limbaugh himself kicked in another $2 million. So, this money -- more than $4 million -- is going -- now going to be donated to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation that provides scholarship money and -- among other charities, to law -- to, rather, members of the military.
And, today on the Senate floor, Senator Reid called the auction and the donation a good cause and credited Limbaugh with doing something he called constructive. So, I'm sure now, Wolf, that everything is going to be just fine between Rush Limbaugh and Senator Harry Reid from now on.
BLITZER: Well, it's interesting, though, that the Majority Leader did go out on the floor and praise Rush Limbaugh for making this very generous contribution to this excellent organization. I assume Harry Reid wants this story to be over with, at least as of now.
CANDIOTTI: Oh, I'm sure he would like to put it well behind him, so, in fact, he did credit Limbaugh for doing a very good thing. I'm not so sure that Mr. Limbaugh will be forgetting about this, though, in the near future.
BLITZER: We'll see what the next fallout is. In fairness, though, to Rush Limbaugh, the "phony soldiers" comment followed a report on Charlie Gibson on ABC News in which they did an extensive report on this one person who pretended to be a soldier -- really wasn't -- and Rush Limbaugh makes that point, which is a fair point. He was reacting to what Charlie Gibson and ABC News had done that whole report on. All right, we'll see what happens now.

Get, ready in 4..4..3..2..1.., the 'Rush meant this' and 'Rush meant that' people will line up to offer every explanation for 'what Rush meant" but not a single one can accept WHAT RUSH SAID!
Monday: ABC Airs show about phony soldiersTuesday: Rush talks about Phony Soldiers and Jesse MacBethWednesday: Rush gets a caller and uses the phrase "Phony soldier." Two min. later in the same conversation, he talks about Jesse MacBeth again.Thursday: Media Matters cut the tape and played it out-of-context.Friday: MSNBC ran the Media Matters story. Congress threatened Rush.Monday: Congress condemned RushTuesday: Congress Condemned RushWed: Word got out that this was a fake storyThurs: Liberals run more attack ads.
WEEKS later, you don't seem to get it.
You are leaving out the context...Limbaugh's exchange with Mark from Chicago just moments before his "phony soldiers' remark, during which Limbaugh refuses to believe Mark from Chicago is former military. An intentional omission of that critical part of the show is lying...but I guess you already know you are a liar and you're okay with that.
ABC on Monday of that week did a special on "Phony Soldiers." Correct
Rush Spoke about Phony Soldiers on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, you libs attacked him for attacking the Military, while it is you libs who really hate the military.
Lol... Yea, right...and we hate Mom, apple pie, baseball and God Bless America...
When I read your posts I get the feeling I'm reading a comic book...
When I read your posts I get the feeling I'm reading a comic book...
Comic books require artistic talent and writing skill to produce - two thins that are sorely lacking in Copious Dissent's rants on MMFA.....
My sincerest apologies to comic book creators.
Copiousdescant:
You're right! I can't take it any more! I've got to come clean! This veteran hates the military.
I hate the military just as much as that other America-hating veteran, Dwight David Eisenhower, hated it when he warned us (oh how presciently!) of the dangers of the military-industrial complex.
I hate the military just as much as Jefferson, Madison, Morris and the other Founders (Liberal anti-Americans all) did when they forbade standing armies; when they kept the war making power away from the Executive because, as they said, the Executive will always use war to increase its power, and no people can preserve it's freedom in a constant state of war.
They were absolutely right. As the 20th Century showed, glorification of war and warriors is an identifying characteristic of fascist states.
You are so ignorant and brainwashed I can almost believe you are not being dishonest, just STUPID. Caller says the press NEVER talks to REAL soldiers, real soldiers WANT to be in Iraq they ONLY talk to soldiers that pop up. Rush says phony soldiers. Obviously only PHONY soldiers dont want to be in Iraq, Rush tells his loyal hivemind morons he means soldiers like MacBeth except only by being a brainwashed moron can you accept that since NOT ONE OF THEM can show any sort of media presence for ANY of these soldiers. You are either ignorant beyond belief, brainwashed into incoherence or an outright liar.
Also, in addition to the fact that he referred to Sodliers, when he (finally) brought up MacBath he said "and one of these guys is Jesse MacBath." Meaning that, even leaving out Kerry-D, Mutrha-D, Hagel-R, etc... that he was implying that there were a bunch of soldiers lumped into this category, with MacBeth. So the idea that he's talking about ONE is bull. He's puttiung up MacBath as representative of all soldiers who think the Iraq Was is bull.
And lump me in with everyone else who never even HEARD of MacBeth outside of RUsh's program. [MacBath's] not a tool of the left, he's a tool of the right. What a bunch of tools!
ITs really you moron hiveminders that wants to get as much of the military KILLED as you possibly can. I think that is a weird hatred. You WANT THEM TO DIE. You love it when they DIE. To me that is hatred.
OTOH, I support the troops. I want them all home safe and reunited with their loved ones.

Hows it feel to carry the water for a "Drug Addicted Pimple Butt Draft Dodging Hypocrite" who promoted the war he dodged like your buddies in the White House.
The "Bandaid Purple Heart Club" is how I see you low lifes. The "drive by media" is what he calls the same people who espouse his big lie. He gives $2.1 after making hundreds of millions telling them lies.
God Bless America for everybody but those whom would be willing to lap up thier lies!! What a croud you guys comprise, I'm going to relish the years of your complaining, exaggerations, lies, and distortions as your party, and you kind are dismantled over the next few years.
Happy Thoughts;
Dan Grady
"you libs attacked him for attacking the Military"
Yeah, well.
As your name says, you do possess "copious" amounts of... something. Not "dissent", although it does have a "scent".
On September 28, Limbaugh expanded his phony soldiers comment to include REAL soldiers-- where's his defense on that one? See earlier MMFA story headlined:
" Limbaugh expands group of "phony soldiers" to include Vietnam veteran Murtha"
Limbaugh can't even keep his stories straight.
On Wednesday, you libs attacked him for attacking the Military, while it is you libs who really hate the military.
And you appear to hate facts and reality.
Liberals do not hate the military, liberals hate stupid comments made by folks who have trouble descriminating between American Foreign policy and the military.
These same people may have trouble descriminating between peanut butter and cottage cheese.
An intentional omission of that critical part of the show is lying...but I guess you already know you are a liar and you're okay with that.
I believe that a person has to be mentally deficient in order to accept what Rush says as facts - and even more deficient to defend the bastard.
Blitzer DEFENDING Limbaugh! This is rich! CNN defending the EIB network! What does the C in CNN stand for? Cesspool?
What does the C in CNN stand for? Cesspool?
Maybe "caving" - as in "caving to pressure from the right-wing loonies".
My complaint with CNN is that they did not mention that Limbaugh had also referenced an ABC News story that reported on "phony soldiers." CNN only mentioned one phony soldier (i.e., MacBeth) when he clearly was referring to more than one.
CNN also failed to mention that he challenged Pinky Reid and his band of Democrat thugs to contribute a matching amount to the same charity. That was a major part of the story.
Koolaid, the auction was a contrived gimmick designed to rehabilitate Rush Limbaugh's tarnished image. That it raised money for a good cause is great, but raising money was not it's primary purpose. Rush Limbaugh's greatest loves are money and ego gratification, and he is a compulsive liar. He is truly a rancid excuse for a human being.
Ironies of Ironies,
Wake up and smell the sanity. The reason that Rush was able to crush the democrat leadership, MM(vl) and Mr. Reid was because the whole idea to make this an issue was a weak attempt to deflect attention from the fact that the left despises the military. You have bowelmovement.org with the Petraeus ad and the recent history of democrat party members willing to throw soldiers to the wolves when convenient to do so.
The true irony is that MM(vl) still thinks they can pull this off! Keep on keeping on and reveal yourselves to Americans as what you really are.
"...Rush was able to crush the democrat leadership..."
LOL...this is hilarious. Is that what fat-boy Rushie told you? Was he high when he said that?
BTW, Hillary and Mr. Soros want to thank Rush Limbaugh for making everyone aware of Media Matters for America.
Ebony and Irony,
Be careful saying out loud that Mrs. Clinton and/or George Soros are in any way, shape or form involved in the endeavor of the aforemention Media Matters(vl). Alluding to the dynamic duo in such a fashion will only get you a one-way ticket to Ft. Marcy park.
So watch your back, please.
ProudMoron, You are a liar and a fool.
SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!
ProudConservative!! The last time a conservative had reason to be proud is when Barry Goldwater ran for the Presidency on a 'win or finish it' platform during the Vietnam.
Today if Barry Goldwater were alive, he would be either a independant or a Democrat. What he would never catch himself is in the Republican Party of today.
I grew-up with Barry Goldwater on my paper route in Scottsdale, Az, my father was just graduated law school at UofA during the election, and we spent many a hours exploring the desert with the Goldwaters, and Ross's as did many of the local youth in our neighborhood.
Mo Udall and Barry Goldwater didn't agree on alot, but they worked together in a civil manor, and with great respect for the constitution, civil liberties, and their oath of office. Today's Republicans are Republicans before Americans, and lead like scared old men or power crazed adolescences.
I heard the politics of the Real Republican party before the Neo-Cons and Evangelicals turn your party into the Fascists Party of America. The idea that a real Republican, a Real American would give so much credit to a "Draft Dodger," a pathetic liar, a drug addict, and college drop-out, a homophobic, xenophobic pedophile would be enough to make anybody sick to their stomach.
So, in conclusion let's correct your name, shall we?, to the "ProudFascist!"
Happy Thoughts;
Dan Grady
Dan, I'd love to hear more about your experience with Goldwater and what his philosophy of government was. My parents supported him; but passed on before the Reagan era; I wonder what they would think of this bunch. (Can't imagine they would support them)
Ask Stephanie Miller's running mate about what Goldwater would think ...
Proudmoron. The reason you ReNAMBLAcans are in here doing damage control is America is waking up to the fact you ReNAMBLAcans want to get as many Americans KILLED as you possibly can. You PRETEND to a care about the troops attitude when REALLY all you care about is seeing them DIE. You love getting them killed and glorify seeing them die.
I think that you would find that NAMBLA members, including a few with MMFA, are overwhelmingly registered Democrats.
Again you say you THINK. The evidence here is clear. You are FAR too ignorant to THINK. You mean RUSH thinks the hivemind morons like YOU regurgitate. Regurgitating and spewing is NOT thinking. Fly thee away and attempt to obtain the requisite equipment TO think then get back to us.
I think that you would find that NAMBLA members, including a few with MMFA, are overwhelmingly registered Democrats.
Tell that to ex-Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL).
And Sen. Larry Craig (R-Minneapolis Airport Restroom)
Now wait, there's no evidence that Craig was after young boys ...
He was after some GAY SEX, something you Righties apparently find abhorrent given the rhetoric from your side, which makes Craig a HYPOCRITE for SAYING one thing and DOING the other.
That said... what if it turned out that, instead of a young cop in that stall, there was a KID there? What say you on that one?
"Keep on keeping on and reveal yourselves to Americans as what you really are."
Recording and playing-back the words of the right-wing, lying propagandist hatemongers so that all the world can see what kind of twisting, distorting, hypocritical liars they are?
You bet we will.
Second City Davey,
Remember to take care though, because if you often listen and play back the words over and over, you too will risk coming under the hypnotic spell of the evile one.
But it could be worse. Like having to listen to a certain person's cackle, over and over again. Hypnotized or death by torture...it's a tough choice.
My guess though, that as people look and see, they will understand clearly the distictions between the democrat party and conservatism and choose correctly. Keep up the good work and show through all your name-calling wisdom, who's values are worth voting for.
"My guess though, that as people look and see, they will understand clearly the distictions between the democrat party and conservatism and choose correctly"
They already have and will continue to do so. That's why the right-wing hatemongers were losers in '06 and why they will lose again next year. Because the distinctions are so clear.
"the democrat party"
It's Democratic Party but then of course even a child knows that.
It's also "evil", not "evile", and "whose values", not "who's values", but if these were Proudcon's biggest problems, he'd be relatively lucky.
Not to mention "distictions." There is, of course, a positive correlation between people whose thinking is flawed and whose writing is flawed.
ProudMoron, the cackle that the hivemind assigned you to talk about that no one else notices. I am sure they will choose correctly too and the ReNAMBLAcans will go down the drain which is better than they deserve.
I'm still waiting for Harry Reid & his 40 co-signers to step up to the plate & match the eBay high bid on the letter to Rush the way Rush did. If they are going to talk to talk let them walk the walk.
Oh please, you heard that stupid crap on Hannity and wht's his name say this! It was a talking point. The senators gave Limbaugh the letter that was worth 2 miilion. Limbaugh used it as a good piece of PR to het his big fat a$$ out of this mess. You should be thanking Ried for the contribution.
Actually, Rush would now have to pay taxes on this ... since he's received something that he's selling ... I think that's one of those things, like Mark McGuire's home run baseball ...
ha ha ha ha ha ...
The auction was a desperate attempt by limbaugh to placate all of the soldiers and vets that he angered. He's terrified that one of them might pop a cap in his arse. I for one hopes he spends the rest of his miserable life looking over his shoulder, scared to death that his fat head will be blown off.
Rush's explanation would be plausible were it not for his exchange with "Mark from Chicago" moments before his "phony soldiers". Are the media simply too lazy to read the entire transcript of the show in question?
Obviously they are
Do you have proof that Mark from Chicago was an actual soldier?
No...just as we have no proof that you are a Marine.
Irony if he really was a Marine he would not mispell it to begin with nor would he have to yell it out loud that he dreams of being one someday. Sadly he is probably too much of a coward to actually join the Marines like I did back in the 80's.
Rush made the accusation it is his burden of proof to show he wasnt. People who can think for themselves KNOW this. I guess you wont understand this simple concept until Rush TELLS you to beleive it
Just wondering....can write off the 4 million on his tax return?
The contribution is tax-deductible, just as a contribution to Media Matters for Hillary is. The difference is the charity Rush is helping does good in the world, while Brock's group is all about destroying others.
Huh. That is exactly what Limbaugh said on his show yesterday. Do you reason thngs out for yourself or just spit back what you this self-serving propadandist says? It might surprise you to learn that many who post hear actually listen to Limbaugh, as opposed to just reading what you inply are doctored transcripts.
Also -- you are an active duty marine? You seem to have a lot of downtime. Do you actually listen to the program every day or do you just read the edited transcript on the Limbaugh website?
Susan. I listen to Rush and other GOP radio shows quite a bit, too, especially when I'm doing a lot of driving for work.
It's tough to listen to that much bullsh*t at one time, but pretty interesting to hear it first hand, how the lies are built and spoon fed to the audience.
That's why I really enjoy the posts from the zombies who post here suggesting that the crazy moonbats actually listen to the show, and not rely on the thorough clips and transcripts at MMFA.
I have listened to hours and hours of Rush and his little tributaries, and the crap doesn't smell any better with prolonged exposure. Unless one really likes the smell of crap.
I also get a laugh from what you just pointed out; The sucker who has bought the lie, and comes here to repeat it, expecting it to be effective on the non-hypnotized. And they do it while ignoring the other posts that have completely shot them down.
Funny stuff, I only wish there was a quiz on current events and logic given at the polling booth that would keep these weak links from having any effect on our country beyond "clown value".
"Huh. That is exactly what Limbaugh said on his show yesterday. Do you reason thngs out for yourself or just spit back what you this self-serving propadandist says?"
His listeners are called dittoheads.
Wow, some compliment. Personally, I'd be ashamed big-time if I was called that. Who would even want to be like that?
Please fill me in on that, dittoheads. Please. Tell me why you choose to be a lazy boob who cannot think for yourself.
"The difference is the charity Rush is helping does good in the world"
His "charitable" idea in a nutshell:
As someone who's never served, I say you kids keep dying forever in Iraq. Any soldier who doesn't want what I want is a "phony". Oh and here's some pocket change for you and the widows. Icing on the cake is that I feel like this will be sticking-it to the libruls who played-back what I said on the radio.
Oh and don't forget to become a premium Rush member for only $35.
At least that is the official hivemind position. Morons like you must find it comforting having someone else do all your thinking for you.
Actually, according to IRS rules taxes will have to be paid as the letter was not written with the intent of being sold for charity.
So Harry Reid is smart enough to accept defeat from Limbaugh. But, MMFA does not know when to quit?
No but you morons like to CLAIM defeat when anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows different. Rush did the whole PR cover his ass stunt because most people arent as ignorant and brainwashed as you are.
Media Matters (very little) is now the preferred site for masochists, you must really desire more pain and humilation than already received regarding this foolish story.
The world knows who appreciates the military versus those who 'loathe' it.
Lame attempts by MM(vl) or the democrat members of the Senate to stiffle political speech have been thoroughy trashed in the past week.
MM(less every day) needs to keep up this wonderful work of showing how moronic the left and democrat party really are. Kudos or if you wish, 1000 lashes with a wet noodle!
The people behind MM and the extremists who believe them are really making fools of themselves.
I only look at this site because it's fun to see how easy it is to make the liberals get raving mad.
Holy crap, there of us reached MMFA in the same thread!!!
three of us*
Three? Wow, just enough for a circle jerk.
Three dittoheads were able to successfully log onto a website with a very open registration system (unlike most of the right wing blogs, who make it very difficult for those with different opinions to post- wonder why?).Maybe they can dedicate tomorrow to tying their own shoes.
I'm glad something good came of this, the contributions to the charity. I've heard it helps military people with their kids college and other programs. Sort of a tax on the stoopid. I'm sure Rush got enough of a tax break for shilling for Bush that it's peanuts to him.
And for all the blustering of the zombies, I still haven't seen any indication of the existence of those "phony soldiers" who were all over the media, paraded around and held up as heroes by "The Left" and that same media.
Copiuos? Koza? ProudCon? Any backup?
LOL
And, of course, nothing but crickets chirping and tumbleweeds going by in the ghost town that is a lack of a response to crux of this entire issue.
The tumbleweeds must be gathered together from the debris that is the strawman of their whole argument.
Hey,RealTruthseeker. I thought I'd check back. Sometimes they try to come in a few days later and fake an attempt. This one has had them stumped for a few weeks.
Even though they ignore requests for some minimal support for the entire foundation of their premise, it doesn't stop the dittobots from going to another thread and posting their fantasies that somehow reality and Rush intersect somewhere.
I checked in, too, with the same objective.
I thought I'd either find some supporting evidence... or more likely, a scathing attack.
It doesn't MATTER whether there's substance to what they say. They just care about saying it so much, the words get ingrained in everyone's brain.
It's been a very effective strategy, frankly. Any challenge of substance is ignored, and allowed to fall by the wayside.
"three of us*"
Wow-quick with the math, you show-off!
The hivemind LIKES to run in packs
safer for them to take on the ones that they feel comfortable against in a fair fight ... say a 12-year-old kid who suffered brain damage in an accident ...
Welcome, we love batting you brain dead morons around.
Solon it's kind of like a cat with a toy huh? They keep batting it around until it disappears under the couch or a chair. Too bad they refuse to disappear under the couch or the chair. BTW Komakid you do not speak for all the military or any veterans any more than I do, and I'm a veteran, so your attemtps to do so are as embarrassing to them as were the purpleheart bandaid wearing excuses for people at your last convention.
Yeah, its a lot like that.
What else do you do for fun - cheat at checkers?
Proudmoron. Congratulations you have kept your title as absolutly the most ignorant poster here. Good job. Keep up your work trying to get as many Americans killed as you possibly can and calling it supporting the troops. That is supporting them DYING, supporting them having their limbs blown off, supporting them into their graves. We all know how much you LOVE seeing Americans DIE. Its all so much fun for you to help KILL Americans. I am sure the American public will respond to your bloodlust and abject stupidity.
"Media Matters (very little) is now the preferred site for masochists"
Obviously wingnuts who come here to look at what they don't want to see and then whine and sob and complain about what they're seeing and how it all matters very little fit the very definition of "masochistic" , so you plainly speak from personal experience.
So does that make YOU a masochist?
>>The world knows who appreciates the military versus those who 'loathe' it.
Yup. The world does indeed know that people who throw the military into a phony war over phony WMD and a phony threat while letting OBL run around free making videos and bombs... well, those people don't love America or the military do they?
A true liberal should weigh all news and have a sense of fairness. The national media dropped the Senator Reid letter issue without follow-up after Mr. Limbaugh turned the advantage to help a charity. How unfair. Can't honestly in reporting be a top issue for us?
What these noecon hive minders don't want mentioned is that the charity to which Rush is donating this money would not be necessary if we hadn’t invaded Iraq. I spent close to a year in Afghanistan from 2002-2003 and we were able to drive in unarmored HMMWV (Humvees). There were American casualties, but we had them on the run. Brazen daytime attacks on bases and the use of IEDs are becoming commonplace because this administration shifted its focus on Iraq and ignored the real fight in Afghanistan. I will be returning in February to a much more dangerous Afghanistan, because the Taliban and the real al qaeda have learned from the insurgents in Iraq.
Good luck, NGO...stay safe.
Sorry I don't have $4 mil to contribute, but my thoughts will be with you guys.
Good Luck and God bless you. You know contrary to what Rush keeps piping into our soldiers via his state sanctioned radio program and his propaganda news pamphlet progressives like most Americans really do support our service people, that’s so important for me to impart to our troops. We simply want to make sure that you are used appropriately. Somehow these neocons have convinced people like the wing nuts that showed up here today giving each other props because as HBL said they were able to log into an unrestricted Liberal web-site that patriotism and supporting our service people is only defined by supporting war. I'm not sure why that notion became so pervasive on the right margins, but they are so wrong. Patriotism demands that you treat the service people with respect and dignity which means having the utmost concern for their safety and wellbeing. Using them for unnecessary military adventures is not doing that and it isn’t patriotic to send our fellow Americans that wear the uniform into harms way when it isn’t absolutely essential, it’s actually detrimental to the nation to do so and doing things that are injurious to the country is the antithesis of patriotism. BTW Afghanistan I understood/understand completely.
Exactly so Lynn
Good luck. God Bless, and be safe.
Take care, NG.
You have our support. Stay safe and thank yo.
You phony soldier, you!
How DARE you mention the lack of focus on Afghanistan... the origin of 9/11... instead of Dick Cheney's personal vendetta... Iraq!
NG we keep using the word safe, aware of the limits of being safe where your going. Anyone who says we don't support you and your comrades ,is cruisin for a serious brusin. Which we'll apply as many times as needed.
You all take great care.
Thanks for the well wishes. I know who really supports us. As soon as I can find my copy, I will post an open letter that my wife wrote concerning phony support of troops i.e. "the yellow sticker"
You have to remember Lush the Limprod loves the troops like he loves his Oxicotin, and the way he loves the folks he visits in the Dominican Republic (a mere coincidence that it's the child prostitution capital of this hemisphere) after he's popped a few of his illegally obtained Viagra. Remember this quote "I had a great time in the Dominican Republic. Wish I could tell you about it."Why Lush why could you not tell your adoring audience about a little jaunt to a country known for catering to the most perverse taste? After all Lush is the epitome of everything America stands for. You know Drug Addiction, multiple marriages, crude jokes about political enemies 12 year old daughters, visiting child prostitution capitals, I could go on but you know all those things that make America GREAT!!!Lush’s loyal ditto heads, they just love Lush and await hungrily each day to gobble up the fresh ejaculate of their daily dose of right wing noise machine talking points. Yes to loyal ditto heads nothing is as yummy as a good load Lush’s mentally delicious vociferate ooze. Now he’s a real hero to his fans because he’s donating some money to prove he’s supports the troops, WOW! A guy who earns $30 million a year is donating a couple of million in a publicity stunt to rehabilitate his image, and will get to right the whole thing off on his taxes. What a guy, what a role model, what a douche.
Rush triumphs, Randi Rhodes stumbles.
Enough said.
"Enough said. "
For now. Until you're told by Limbaugh what you're supposed to say next week.
Billy is a delusional moron. Nuff said
If getting caught lying to your listeners is "triumphing", may Rush continue to triumph every day.
BilliyJoeJimBob you have sealed your fate as the most moronic poster on this site. You even manage to make CopiousBraindead and Komakid look literate. Now I know you will flag this post to show how manly you are and how you defeated a "librul" female veteran Democrat. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! She called me names that bad bad bad female veteran democrat.
Exactly what is it that Mr. Limprod wins? Public opinion? A poll by Las Vegas Review-Journal shows him with a whopping 34 percent approval rating. WOW! I suppose when you compare it with Shub and Big Dick those are astronomical numbers. Don't believe me Lush posted it on his own web site.
When 50% have a negative opinion of you, and 15% have no opinion, and that's winning?
So I'll ask again, what is it exactly the Drug addicted, limp one winning?
Oh I see, the 34% of those who worship on their knees at their demi-god, and crave the daily dose of creamy goo that is his daily talking point ejaculate which they seen to be as addicted to as Limprod is to oxicotin and Viagra, still believe.
So do you who worship Limprod wish you could pop oxicotin/viagra cocktails and go visit the child prostitution capital with him too?
how pathetic are these guys?
Rush is an elitist blowhard who's main purpose is to deflect attention from the fact that the conservative philosophy and conservative policies are all about protecting the status of the top economic tiers while shifting the risks and costs of society to the middle and lower classes.
Rush was discussing articles this week about how much it costs for a family to live in California including health care. His helpful advice to those struggling to make ends meet? A condescending "Get a better job." I could almost picture his sneer. Thanks Rush, I'm sure that nobody ever thought of that before. While the mass of middle America is working for the same dollars that they were 8 years ago and finding that they can't buy as much as they used to with them, he finds that the problem is with them, not with the owners that do not share the rewards with those who helped them get them. Yes, the real answer is that we all just need to get better jobs, maybe multimillion dollar contracts letting whatever dopey thoughts pass through our heads each day for four hours a day. There must be thousands of jobs like that available, right?
What never fails to amaze me is just how loyal these dimwitheads, I mean ditto heads really are.
These are the same people who applaud Lush when he pontificates about how "druggies" knowingly break the law and should be sent "up the river"...except when it's Lush, who sends his maid out to score his hillbilly heroin, and has an illegal script for Viagra.
These are the same people who would condemn someone for taking a "pleasure" trip that they "wish they could tell you about" to a the worst kinds of perverts, unless it's Lush.
It reminds me of the really devout church member who upon finding out the pastor is molesting the little girls in Sunday School forgives him because his sermons are so good.
And the sheaple bleat, Oh please Mr. Limprod what ever should I think today?
The liberal baloney like this turned me into a republican and I started listening to the other side- and it made sense- no going in circles, and blaming and having no ideas of their own as I saw after 9/11 by the democrats and the news. I got sick and tired of hearing them blame us Americans for the viciousness of the terrorists. I really got angry when it was insinuated that Bush started a tornado to hurt only the people in New Orleans (I wondered- how is someone who is supposedly so dumb dredge up a hurricane- send it where he wants- hurts only those he doesn't care about and get away scott free with no evidence?) I am not the smartest person in the world however- I knew what I saw on the "regular news each day and heard from the stars (that I just wanted to see sing or act!!) was just wining, lieing, complaining and nonsensical. What is funny to me is that democrats have told me that I was pushed into believing the horrid conservatives because (I must have no mind of my own!) of the rhetoric of those people (republicans) I know this is not true because I never even listened to republicans until the baloney of the liberals and democrats made me sick to my stomach. Then I tuned in and felt a sense of relief- there is still some sense in this country!! Thank you Rush, Beck, O'Reilly, Smerconish and Hannity. I may not agree with all- but at least there is some education to help dummies like me figure out what is important.
"I really got angry when it was insinuated that Bush started a tornado to hurt only the people in New Orleans (I wondered- how is someone who is supposedly so dumb dredge up a hurricane- send it where he wants- hurts only those he doesn't care about and get away scott free with no evidence?)"
As if anyone suggested that Bush started and aimed a hurricane anywhere.
This is so stupid, it almost has to be a parody. But if not, you should fit right in with the Hannity-listening crowd.
That had to have been made up and suggested by an "EIB" employee to help fire up the base ...
Like most of Rush's facts (there's more trees now in America than in 1776) , totally fabricated ...
As I said in the post- "I did not listen to Rush or any other conservative until the media and others such as actors and actresses turned me off- so the story I heard was not from any of the conservatives every one seems to blame whenever you don't agree with the liberal side. I noticed in my life of working with liberals (as I thought I was) that if I disagree with any thing or question it- they treated me with disdain, I then noticed when I disagreed with a conservative friend, they took the time of day to hear me out and actually would debate the issue with no name calling, impatience or any other mean spirited thing. I grew up being told that liberals and democrats were the nice ones and republicans where evil. Well, I finally woke up after 9/11 and saw just the opposite. Of course people are people and can be good or bad no matter the political beliefs. But I have seen more conservatives sacrifice their time to be kind, help out and be neighborly instead of all talk. They actually give their own money (even after being taxed) to help others without needing the fanfare. ( I am talking about regular folk - not those in the news. I work in afield where I am scorned if I said I was a republican. I have done the opposite and was not treated poorly. The liberals drove me away from the democratic party, conservatives did not push me into being a republican.
Hey wasn't it Robertson who was going to pray away a hurricane in the years past? If I recall right he wasn't any able to do that than Bush was able to pray up a hurricane to hit NOLA. So I guess God's chosen men, or so they say, aren't all that powerful as they would have the American public believe. Not that the majority of the American public believe what they say anyway.
I am not the smartest person in the world
Thank you for that nugget of truth in that incredible pile of blather. You're obviously not completely hopeless.
Enough said? not really- just one more comment: You're an idiot!
Right or left, are you so souless that you would make light of this womens injuries?
Solon
It was terrrible to read your comments about liberals and how they/we wish our troops harm, let alone dead. Even anonymous boards like this should not leave you with such disregard.
I never saw my self as a liberal. I was very politically active during Vietnam because I saw the waste of human life and the corruption that saw huge profits go to Dupont and GM. I saw buses filled with inductees, mostly black (Mt Vernon New York) because they did not have deferments like many of the more fortunate white kids from the suburbs. In my mid 20's it was not uncommon to visit someones home and see a folded flag in a oak frame sitting on top of the TV. 6 years after his discharge, my best friend shot himself. He was a navy medic and put his hands on more death then you or I will ever imagine. He couldn't live the nightmare anylonger. Please don't write those one dimensional comments any more. I can't speak for any one else, but I will voice my opposition to this "war" to save a life and keep this generation intact and together for the length of there natural lives.
Solon was criticizing the conservatives who are always ready to throw their patriotism in your face but are in favor of a war we are fighting which is getting more Americans killed everyday. Solon, though a bit harsh, makes perfect sense. How do you claim to love soldiers and value American life, while supporting a war we cannot win? What's most frustrating is the verbage used to sway opinion actually works. OSAMA BIN LADEN attacked the U.S. not Hussein. Can anyone of you conservatives tell me what the hell we're doing there besides getting innocent lives taken? And if this is such a noble thing we're doing, how come more people aren't signing up to lose their life?
Buccaluck,
You can't be serious. The only ass Rush needs to worry about is his own pimply one first off. Second of all, in order to debate any subject minor details such as FACTS usually come in handy. Rush is unable to speak truthfully. Okay lets start from this latest controversy. I'm sure you're of the ilk that believe Media Matters took his words out of context right? Can you honestly say if his name wasn't Rush Limbaugh and it were, I dunno, HILLARY CLINTON and SHE got caught changing audio of something that was controversial, you wouldn't be ready to stone and flog her. You guys are unbelievable.
Jesse MacBeth did not pretend to be a soldier, he was a soldier until he was discharged. He pretended to be an officer and he pretended to have been stationed somewhere he wasn't station. But he is no more a phony soldier than I am a genuine chess grandmaster. He went through basic, he served. He's not a "phony soldier" he's a "phony officer."
In fairness to CNN, they're paid too highly to be expected to comprehend what's on the teleprompter as they say it.
You're asking in jest of course-Every respected intel organization concluded the same isse--WMD's were there and probability they were going to terrorists i.e Al-Quida--Both Democrats and Republicans said they had" READ "THE INTEL and VOTED accordingly--both parties made numerous speeches endorsing there vote--The Dems even did it prior to 911 to cover Clintons ass under wag the dog theory--We may have avoided this but Bill and Janet decided to make an attack "illega"l(thats gotta lotta balls to it) and handcuffed the intell organizations not to share data-Clinton knew Osama was planning and turned down his capture for "LEGAL REASONS"The SOB lost his law lic so what does that tell you--We had to piss around so long before going because of the Democrats and the Great UN, the WMD's probably went to Syria or Iran---More likely Iran because thats where his Air Force booked it to-w/out rhectoric provide contradictory data-I'm relyingon News reports (NYT-WP) Senate speeches on record and Legal decisions -Have at it -BRING IT ON
i must obey mediamatters..no prof the limbaugh means soldiers who disagree just several days insinuation...i belaieve and obey.. (in a world wher winter follows spring

Hey Ken --Wake up-- here's some bkgnd on "Vote Vets"
The goal of the VoteVets.org PAC is to put Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans in Congress who are critical of the execution of the war in Iraq and representative of the principles of VoteVets.org PAC in the US Congress…” (Vote Vets.org, Accessed 5/9/07) Failed Democrat Presidential Candidate Wesley K. Clark serves on Board of Advisors:
Gen. Wesley K. Clark, who ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2004 and who serves on the board of advisors of IAVA PAC, said (according to Federal News Service) of George Soros: "And it's a real honor for me to be here, participating in this program and introducing a man who is a man of vision, a man of courage and a man of action, George Soros." Called Himself "HONORED" to be with George Soros: GEN. CLARK: Well, thank you, Ambassador. And it's a real honor for me to be here, participating in this program and introducing a man who is a man of vision, a man of courage and a man of action, George Soros. George has earned his place in the elite of the American business community. He's one of the principal innovators in financial management. But more than that, he is a patriot, he is a great philanthropist, and he's a good neighbor. Co-Founder and Chairman of Vote Vets, Jon Soltz, has been “LOYAL SUPPORTER” and “ATTACK DOG” for John Kerry:
You loser
The Valerie Plame "I'm so undercover that I would have to kill you because my job was like so secret, like I was a super-de-dooper spy that held the future of all mankind in the palm of my hand before that Libby guy stayed awake for years trying to fighure out how to get me", instead linked me to the Rush story (In which you have already been fully creamed by). So I might as well trash the left and the democrat party on this loser too.
