On the November 2 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom, co-host Megyn Kelly teased an upcoming story by saying: "Well, in other news, Barack Obama makes a little girl cry. What? That story ... in five minutes." Kelly added, "He's made me cry many times." However, as the Associated Press reported on November 2, Obama, at a campaign event in North Carolina the previous day, spoke with the young girl because she had "shed a few tears." According to the AP: "That's how Hadassah Jones, of Durham, got Barack Obama to answer questions Thursday after the campaign initially denied such requests from reporters." When co-host Bill Hemmer later reported on the story and correctly noted that Obama took "questions from a five-year-old girl after she shed a few tears and got his attention," Kelly said: "So he didn't make her cry. She was crying, and then he -- and then she stopped crying." Hemmer replied, "I didn't say he made her cry." Kelly then stated, "We said in the tease -- I was waiting to see how he made her cry." Hemmer responded: "That's why they call it a tease."

Media Matters for America has documented Fox News' penchant for false and misleading teasers.

From the November 2 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom:

KELLY: That one's got a lot of people fired up. Send us an e-mail at americasnewsroom@foxnews.com if you're one of them. Well, in other news, Barack Obama makes a little girl cry. What? That story, Bill, in five minutes. He's made me cry many times.

HEMMER: And the day is not over.

[...]

HEMMER: Also, Sen. Obama outlining his health-care plan to someone not quite old enough to vote. The Democratic candidate taking questions from a 5-year-old girl after she shed a few tears and got his attention. A rally, Durham, North Carolina, Obama crouching down to the ground and told Hassadah Jones that people who have money need to help those who are poor. For example, he asked the first-grader, "If you had a whole pizza and your friend had none, would you give your pal a slice?" Jones later said she had a great time meeting the Democratic candidate.

KELLY: So he didn't make her cry. She was crying, and then he -- and then she stopped crying.

HEMMER: Yeah. I didn't say he made her cry.

KELLY: We said it in a tease -- I was waiting to see how he made her cry.

HEMMER: I gotcha.

KELLY: But he didn't make her cry.

HEMMER: That's why they call it a tease.

KELLY: I --

HEMMER: And I'll have my pizza with pepperoni.

Based on this clip, it seems to me that she was letting the truth slip out a bit, in what appears to be a 'slip of consciousness'.....

My guess is that FOX Security and/or Roger Ailes had a few words with her and we'll know how that turns out over the next few days, based on how she presents herself and the FOX Noise version of the truth!

Unbelievable. Hemmer apparently failed Journalism 101 but found a job on America's unfairest news channel.

Well, yeah, but she apparently cheated on her Questionmarking 101 final.

Any Fox fool, even Gibson, could tell you, she was supposed to read "Obama makes little girl cry???" from the teleprompter.

You got one part wrong though..

"...she was supposed to read".  You're assuming to your peril she knows how to do that.

she was supposed to read "Obama makes little girl cry???" from the teleprompter.

Or she winged it, dropped the question mark and then added,... What?

Does she not know what is on her own script?  Not know anything about the stories her co-host is doing.  Don't remember anything from the planning meeting with the show producer?

You could be right.  It's possible all the above is true and the teleprompter did not properly display the ???

Ah yes, another great new reporter. Another in a growing line of journalists whose work would be 99.9% more valuable to the world if they weren't wearing a shirt.

"That's why I call it a tease." Because you were lying? I guess that is one form of teasing. A subject she is probably pretty on top of in order to have gotten this job at FOX.

Megyn is such a little tease herself that she thinks a headline teaser in a news story is on the same level as her trying to get a new boyfriend to spring for a fancy dinner and concert tickets.

No, we didn't say NYPD shot and raped anyone, we asked how they were helping someone who was shot and raped, that's why it's called a teaser, silly bunnies!

Dear Megyn, if you're going to be a blonde bimbo on national television, please have the decency to wear lipstick with a little more color to it.  Danke.

Maybe she has a conscience, maybe not. I don't know. All I know is that if I constantly had to frame the debate peculiarly, constantly had to jam dichotomies into even basic discussions, make every convoluted effort feasible to put liberals on the defensive ALWAYS, I'd probably feel very guilty. Of course, I'd probably feel even worse when I forced to deny the obvious. Bottom line, I'd get the hell out of there and if it bothers her, so should she. I hope we're not all just preaching to the choir. The people who watch and believe this stuff must know that somebody WRITES this crap! Megyn Kelly is reading from a monitor, and whoever is writing the copy must be held up to public scrutiny. LET'S BRING UP THEIR NAMES. These are not simple mistakes. They are calculated misstatements, this one meant to get people to listen to the next segment about Obama wanting to "make nice" to Achmadeniwad. This network is part of an evil would-be empire.

          Pearlene, FYI:

the real tag to end sarcasm would be a forward slash (as found in 9/11) followed by the tag identifier itself (in this case "sarcasm")  all enclosed in "less than" sign (like you would find in the mathematical equation 9<11) and the "greater than" sign.

ex: <sarcasm>Rudy would like to put 9/11 behind him - so his followers would have a script.</sarcasm>

The only requirement to work in front of the cameras at Fox News is you must be a female with blond hair. If your hair is not blond, you must dye it to please the mostly male conservative viewers. Of course, you can see it for yourselves.

This is the worst news network in the history of television. If Edward R. Murrow or Chet Huntly were alive today, they would denounce this fraudalent news network.

Megyn Kelly is an idiot, that's why she was hired in the first place. Bossman Roger Ailes loves these trophy blonds, just like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

Fox reached a new low last night (at least since the Swift Boat Liars were on all the time).

After watching engaging political news from Olbermann, I flipped over to Hannity on Fox.

I kept checking to see if they'd report on Mukasey, or some other relevant topic.  But for 30 minutes all they discussed that "Dog" bounty hunter being taped using the n-word.

How is it that showing a little humanity to a crying child becomes the source of a national joke?

Better question: maybe the Fox camera man made her cry to manufacture this headline? Does Fox regularly make young children cry? I wouldn't put it past them.
