Kristol: "White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that"
On the February 3 edition of Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Sunday, panelist and New York Times columnist Bill Kristol said the only people supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-NY) presidential campaign "are the Democratic establishment and white women." Kristol then asserted that "it would be crazy for the Democratic Party to follow an establishment that's led it to defeat year after year," and added, "White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that." After fellow panelist Brit Hume responded, "Bill, for the record, I like white women," Kristol said, "I know, I shouldn't have said that."
From the February 3 edition of Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Sunday:
BILL KRISTOL: Look, the only people for Hillary Clinton are the Democratic establishment and white women. The Democratic establishment -- it would be crazy for the Democratic Party to follow an establishment that's led it to defeat year after year. White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that.
[laughter]
JUAN WILLIAMS (National Public Radio correspondent and Fox News contributor): Not me!
HUME: Bill, for the record, I like white women.
KRISTOL: I know, I shouldn't have said that.

Hume then posted this picture of an Obama campaign staffer, as well as this example of blatant pandering to the "problem" demographic.
OOOh dear we're in trouble now.
|8~!
Misogynist Kristol showing his true sexist self. This sort of 50's era commentary are another sign of the death throws of the fractured Republican Party that neocon Bill and his ilk have wrought.
And, much like the Bush Administration, why anyone listens to anything Kristol has to say after his spectacular mispredictions and misrepresentations is beyond me.
Gimme a break.
I saw the remark, and it was clearly a joke. Not only that, but he was clearly talking about white women in regard to Clinton's campaign. Nobody else.
I don't like Kristol, but this citation is ridiculous. They were all making fun of him, too-- so hey guys, it wasn't serious.
Plus, to cite this doesn't make any sense, either, because Kristol is white. What does MMFA think he was saying if it was a slip?
It wasn't-- it was a joke.
MMFA loses some cred here.
I agree. Dan Quayle's "brain" is a joke. As is PNAC. Bill Kristol is just a hoot. And ooooh, child, that Iraq war is just so darn funny. Man that guy keeps me in stiches. It's so nice that he gets to rag on white women for Hillary (could it be his wife?) on the teevee with like minded simpletons such as Brit Hume. Man, that face of his (Humes) is just hillarious on it's own. All dour and hang dog lookin'. Like he was rode hard and put up wet. I could just go on about how Kristol et al are so dang funny. Riot, I tell ya. I mean we all deal with these reprobates, oops I shouldn't a said that.
A joke, huh? Oh, I get it, it's funny that I am white, female and "considered a problem" by MEN on the NEWS.
Hahahahaha! Wow you're right.
Let me try:
"Well we all know black men are a problem in this country."
"Gay people are a big problem."
"Everyone is a big problem in this country but WHITE MEN."
You're right it seems so funny...
You make a good point.
But you have to admit that the good old boys' network controls business and politics, just as it has for centuries. This is nothing that men in power are about to throw away anytime in the foreseeable future. They’ve been pressured to let in a few token women and minorities – and the ones who are granted this privilege better “know their place”. Hillary isn’t going to change anything – she’s just being allowed to play the game to keep the masses of “problem” white women happy.
I don't "have to admit" anything. While it may be true that white men have managed to OPPRESS women and minorities for centuries the tide is a changin'.
As far as anyone "allowing" Hilary to run to placate "white women". Who "allowed" her to run?
Only in america would someone be so ignorant as to not realize that "we" women have RULED countries for thousands of years. I don't need to be "placated" by a female candidate to know women are equally capable of ruling. I have history to show me that.
It's hard to tell what is going on in the minds of such small-minded ppl.
One thing is certain though...they want to stop Hillary. I dunno that they even had it this bad for Gore. Their attacks don't even make sense.
IT WAS A JOKE !!!
Jeez-- the self righteousness.
How about we as human beings come to an agreement RIGHT NOW that on the NEWS channels "jokes" should not be told on the bases of sex or race.
HOW ABOUT THAT?
As a female, I am absolutely disgusted by the sexist/racist jokes on the NEWS channels.
These are the places we are "supposed" to be informed about world events NOT listen to a bunch of white men making fun of everyone that isn't HETEROSEXUAL, WHITE, or MALE.
But it's just sooooooooooooooooooooo funny...
it would be crazy for the Democratic Party to follow an establishment that's led it to defeat year after year.
Can someone explain what Kristol is saying here?
I think it's fairly clear what he meant. Gore was the establishment choice for the Democratic nomination in 2000, and had the election stolen from him. Kerry was the establishment choice in 2004, and may have had the election stolen from him. Clinton is clearly the establishment choice in 2008, and we'll see what happens.
But any team this bad at winning the close ones might want to try to shake things up, rather than trying to eke out a narrow victory by replaying the strategy that failed the last two times, nominating a candidate who'd spent the previous decade or two in Washington.
Nobody bats 1.000, and nobody bats .000. This is a time when the blind pig Kristol found the acorn
THIS may be what he means:

Check out this oped in today's NY News about pundits race and gender cluelessness:
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2008/02/03/2008-02-03_pundits_need_a_new_playbook_when_it_come.html
It was a joke and as such, it was kind of funny... especially from an Obama point of view. That was what he was saying.
Lighten up, guys. There are better things to get Kristol on. This is the kind of thing that gives liberals a bad name.
Lighten up, guys. There are better things to get Kristol on. This is the kind of thing that gives liberals a bad name.
What's the deal, Carlile--are you turning into a Concern Troll? Liberals only have a "bad name" among Conservatives and the easily brainwashed, none of whom have the good sense to look up "liberal" in the dictionary and see what a beautiful word it actually is.
Or are you falling into the oft-repeated figment-of-the-neocon-imagination mantra about liberals having no sense of humor? That, of course, has been blown apart so many times that anyone who brings it up has his credibility sink to the level of, say, LeatherHelmet's.
And yes, there are better things to get Kristol on. And, of course, MMFA has got him on those as well. I'm not sure why anyone thinks that MMFA should only concentrate on the absolute worst cases and leave the lesser ones alone. The big ones are like the wolves we barricade from the door; the little ones are like the termites that eat away the foundations of the building. No, a single termite isn't so bad, but the fact is they are widespread, and left unchallenged they do just as much damage.
SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!
I think Kristol thought he was making a joke, but of course it makes no sense at all. The only funny part is that Hume found it necessary to tell everyone that he likes white women. Gee, Brit, we never would have guessed.
No joke to Mr. Kristol, the man who sold the war as much or more than any other advocate. A man who has been annoited the Neo-Conservative aire apparent to William F. Buckley, the man that has made 'liberal' a dirty with his seat at the table of political discourse as an "expert" on Fox News.
The man that said that the idea of Sunni and Shia descending into conflict was ridiculous, and that it was "pop psychology" as though he were some kind of middle-east expert.
The man is a complete failure as a intellectual, policy expert, and pundit. He has been wrong about everything he has predicted, and surmised about every issue for as long as he has been in the limelight. Yet there he is stil on the tube! With the bully pulpit! Why I wonder?(not really)

Hilarious!
Now that is what I call 'speaking truth to power'. Of course, the risk of speaking truth to power is the wall of bricks that might fall on you!!
This is why people like Kristol get paid so well by the republican base.
No, not because he's good or anything, it's because he's uglier than a mule's butt with shaving cream. A guy like that can't afford a hooker on middle class wages.
I guess mediamatters forgot the race card doesn't work with white women.
Nice try, though.
What?
Did you wake up this morning and drink two cups of stupid instead of your usual one?
JJ, I think I know how Kristol gets his jollies, now...

Hey snoopy, what in the world does that link have to do with Kristol?
Nothing. So what's the point of it?
And the parade of displayed ignorance marches on...
The dwindling pool of Republican True Believers is becoming more desperate by the day. Their accusations are becoming more transparent and self-serving by the minute.
Kristol is limo'd to work, has never seen the inside of a Salvation Army, much less of a barracks in the real Army, and has no clue what real Americans think or live with. His perspective is strictly silver-spoon owning class.

How in Hell is THAT a JOKE?
Brit didn't laugh! I didn't laugh! Nobody laughed! Then Bill said he should not have said it. Some posters here need their heads examined.

These people make real funny jokes, like...
"nappy headed ho's..." I guess that soon the
whole world will be too busy laughing to make war.
Bill Kristol, well paid for his "wit" and any
Sage thoughts, and promoting ol' Mitt and many

Whom he bashes, because he ain't gettin' any.
I think it's a good and bad thing that Kristol said what he said. Bad in the usual sense that news pundits shouldn't be engaged in ignorant rhetoric while on air. However, I find that it's good for people, white women especially, to see what some of this dying breed of ignorance truly thinks about them. I'm gonna speak my mind. I need you all to tell me if I'm wrong. White women, in my opinion, are protected as a minority class, but benefit from being the same race as the majority in power. However, when a white woman's vote does not go along with the majority in power, they are questioned. Furthermore, many of the majority in power has ridiculed the idea of a female being president. This leads me to believe that many who follow this ignorant way of thinking see white women in a subservient role in our society. The question I ask is do other white women feel this or am I full of you know what and need to stick to black issues?
Remember, these are the main assortment of men that want us all to return to America, circa 1955 when your wife stayed at home, had supper ready when you walked through the door, cleaned the house in high heels and a nice dress, washed the kids, the dog, heck, even the cat, took care of the kids so the man didn't have to, and you know, just everything was peachy, back in 1955...
I am wishing Marty McFly would show up, and bring Kristol, and his buddies back to 1955 in his Delorean time machine, and sort of just leave them there.
We're missing the point here, he's a racist. Shouldn't he hate women of all races equally?
