SUMMARY: On Fox News' Your World, Ann Coulter repeatedly referred to Sen. Barack Obama as "B. Hussein Obama," and said, "It's shocking that ... he's probably going to be our next president, President Hussein." Less than a week ago, Coulter also referred to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama," and asserted: "[H]is first big accomplishment" was "being born half-black. ... He wouldn't be running for president if he weren't half-black."

On the February 13 edition of Fox News' Your World, right-wing pundit Ann Coulter repeatedly referred to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (IL) as "B. Hussein Obama" -- five times in all, within a span of less than 2 minutes -- once calling him "President Hussein." While discussing 2008 presidential candidates Obama and Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and John McCain (R-AZ), Coulter said: "Forget the prediction aspect of this. Hillary Clinton would be more conservative than John McCain on illegal immigration, I think, on terrorism if there's a terrorist attack. Both B. Hussein Obama and John McCain, in the event of a terrorist attack, will go take a tour of Mecca. It's a very frightening time for America." After Coulter referred to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama" for the fifth time, host Neil Cavuto asked: "So, why do you keep saying the 'B. Hussein Obama'?" Coulter replied: "Well, that's his name." She added: "It's shocking that ... he's probably going to be our next president, President Hussein."

Coulter's appearance on Your World came less than a week after she delivered a speech to the Young America's Foundation, in which she also referred to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama," and asserted: "His strongest selling point is that he is one of the least dangerous people I know named Hussein." Coulter went on to say: "Other than that, Barack's really been kind of coasting on his record, since his first big accomplishment of being born half-black. I keep hearing people say, 'Oh, Obama could never be elected because he's half-black. You know, 'cause we're just such a racist country.' What are they talking about? He wouldn't be running for president if he weren't half-black. He'd be [Sen.] Dick Durbin [D-IL] with less experience."

Media Matters has documented numerous instances in which media figures highlighted Obama's middle name. In addition, Media Matters has noted Coulter's well-documented history of making anti-Muslim remarks:

  • On the June 25, 2007, edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, discussing Obama's June 23, 2007, speech at a church in Hartford, Connecticut, co-host Alan Colmes asked Coulter if "[o]nly Republicans can talk in churches." Coulter responded: "No, but I do think anyone named B. Hussein Obama should avoid using 'hijack' and 'religion' in the same sentence." Colmes replied: "[I]n other words, you want to paint him as a terrorist by continuing ... to highlight that his middle name is Hussein?" Coulter then stated: "Just avoid those two together. ... Avoid 'hijack and 'religion.' " Coulter was referring to a line in Obama's speech: "But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked."
  • In her February 8, 2006, nationally syndicated column on the rash of violence linked to cartoons in European newspapers that satirized the Prophet Muhammad, Coulter suggested that Islam is "a car-burning cult" and wrote that Muslims have "a predilection for violence."
  • In her February 3, 2005, column, after lauding the elections in Iraq as "one of the grandest events in the history of the world," Coulter cited reports of Iraqis celebrating in the streets on Election Day and added parenthetically: "Isn't it great to see Muslims celebrating something other than the slaughter of Americans?"
  • In her April 28, 2004, column, titled "Arab Hijackers Now Eligible For Pre-Boarding," Coulter described her search for the airline that, post-September 11, has "engaged in the most egregious discrimination" against passengers who appeared to be Arab, Middle Eastern, or Muslim, "so [Coulter] could fly only that airline."
  • Two days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Coulter wrote about Muslims: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." She was fired from the National Review Online in late 2001 for this comment. In her book, How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter (Crown Publishing Group, October 2004), Coulter also wrote: "I am often asked if I still think we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. The answer is: Now more than ever!" On the October 4, 2004, edition of Hannity & Colmes, in answer to Colmes' question -- "Would you like to convert these people all to Christianity?" -- Coulter said: "The ones that we haven't killed, yes."

From the February 13 edition of Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto:

CAVUTO: What do you see happening?

COULTER: Look, I'm not good at making predictions, and it's not a good season for making predictions, but you still have --

CAVUTO: But you're very good at reading numbers, Ann. I mean, you --

COULTER: I'm not as good --

CAVUTO: Unless something hellacious happens, he's the Republican nominee.

COULTER: Forget the prediction aspect of this. Hillary Clinton would be more conservative than John McCain on illegal immigration, I think, on terrorism if there's a terrorist attack. Both B. Hussein Obama and John McCain, in the event of a terrorist attack, will go take a tour of Mecca. It's a very frightening time for America, and the one thing that I think Americans can get out of this is the most important thing we have to do is repeal McCain-Feingold. The way -- if you look at it backwards and see how we ever got a president like Ronald Reagan, it's because he had a few millionaires funding his campaign to run for governor of California. I was sitting around with some of my --

CAVUTO: Instead of a single billionaire is what you're saying.

COULTER: Correct. Correct.

CAVUTO: All right, so --

COULTER: But still, you have a lot of people who aren't independently wealthy.

CAVUTO: But you know what's going to be difficult for someone like --

COULTER: Now we're limiting the pool.

CABUTO: All right, but for someone like you, Ann, it's got -- Obama's a slippery target, right? He's not as clear, focused, or --

COULTER; Well, because we -- he's like Chinese food. You hear the speech, "Ah, that was a great speech," and five minutes later, "What did he say?"

CAVUTO: But does that matter now?

COULTER: I don't -- are you trying to get me to make a prediction? I don't know. I think both he --

CAVUTO: I'm just saying it's going to be difficult -- you can easily --

COULTER: -- and John McCain would be a disaster.

CAVUTO: -- paint, and many conservatives have, that Hillary Clinton is evil and all of that, right? It's a tougher pitch to do with Obama, right?

COULTER: Oh, I don't think so. No, I don't think so at all. I think what Republicans have to look at is whether we're going to get blamed for it. I mean, at least --

CAVUTO: But will you -- you said you'd vote for Hillary --

COULTER: -- B. Hussein Obama would end up being --

CAVUTO: You said you'd vote for Hillary over McCain --

COULTER: I'm making no commitments on B. Hussein Obama.

CAVUTO: I see you're hedging. You're hedging.

COULTER: But, at least B. Hussein Obama would probably just be a Jimmy Carter, and four years, we pick up seats. With McCain, we'll get the same policies. We'll probably lose a lot of seats in the House and the Senate in the mid-term election. We'll lose a lot of seats in 2012. Then they get President B. Hussein Obama in there, and he has massive majorities in the House and the Senate.

CAVUTO: So, why do you keep saying the "B. Hussein Obama"?

COULTER: Well, that's his name.

CAVUTO: I know.

COULTER: It's shocking that -- that --

CAVUTO: It's also Barack Obama.

COULTER: -- that he's probably going to be our next president, President Hussein.

CAVUTO: Incredible.

COULTER: Oh, sorry. You tricked me into giving a prediction. I thought we were talking about steroids.

CAVUTO: Ann Coulter, always good seeing you.

So we're addressing Presidents by their middle names now.  That means that we have gone down the tubes for the last 7+ years under the brilliant leadership of President Walker.  Wonder what Ann's middle name is?  If she doesn't have one I have a suggestion.

Aside from your reference, I'm struggling to find any possible way 'Dubya' is an attempt at an insult? Its more like you'd say it as if you knew him personally, where as Hussein is meant to denigrate Obama as though being a Moslem is somehow denigrating?

I do have a bad habit of thinking others automatically know what I am referring to, so apologies. There is a well known vid of Bush giving the middle finger to someone while being filmed. I'm just taking advantage of that and using it as a means of saying he's been giving the finger to us.

I think her middle name might be BillieBob.

And Fox, please change the name of that show..I don't think many people believe it is their world which you are talking about. It is plainly a Bizarro world with a slant towards lunacy that the right lives in.

Sadly, from my point of view, Execrable Annie bears an Irish name,  O'Coltair in Gaelic.  It's an ancient sept whose ancestral lands are in County Down, in the North of Ireland.  I have no idea what else is in her gene pool.

Let Ann have her pet names, if she has nothing else.  Obviously an Obama presidency is an anathema to her very livelihood of hateful and poisonous rhetoric, so she lashes out with disrespect.

For someone who lives to politically divide and slash, a politician that doesn't share that angle is a threat.  Not hard to figure why she prefers Hillary over Obama.

By joe, your snarkily simplistic analogy isn’t even close...

The main flaw is this:  You are not simply taking the garbage to the curb and leaving it there.

YOU are the one who is scattering it all over the neighborhood and causing a nuisance. You do this out of complete disrespect for you neighbors and due to the simple fact that you can because you are empowered with privilege by City Hall because you are also a member of the city council.

A neighborhood advocate recognizes that this is a problem, but realizes that City Hall is simply turning a blind eye to their own Council Member and pretending the problem doesn’t exist.  The neighborhood advocate then decides to record a video of you scattering the garbage, then requests all of your neighbors to attend a public meeting at the community center regarding the problem.  The neighbors attend and see a video of you scattering the garbage.  The neighbors get mad and contact City Hall with the hope that widespread public pressure will bring a resolution to the problem.

No, I am taking the garbage out there, where it sits, where it stays, where it essentially dies - of course, that is on me, my bad, my responsibility totally.

But then you pick it up and scatter it around, airing it further, giving it life, fueling its stench even more - that, my friend, is on you, that is your part in it.

Here's the rub. Coulter is rube and a hack. She doesn't deserve the attention. FOX and any other network -- notably NBC -- need to be the focus of all our ire. Any one that gives this hack a platform deserves to be taken to task. It's not about the 1st Amendment, it's about being responsible broadcasters. Let her sell her hateful vitriol without the aid of the public airwaves. She certainly has the right to say these things, but no one has the obligation of amplifying them. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Zoroaster, et al., did just fine in spreading their messages without the aid of mass media. The fact that they resonated based on a universality was enough. Hate's just a hard sell, as it should be.

Quoting the words of Black Talk Radio Host Coz Carson of Chicago's Black Talk Radio Station WVON-AM 1690, Coulter is a shrill hack!

Carson also told all of Coulter's fascist racist white supremacist theocratic fan base to "Kick Rocks!"

When will this woman ever grow up? I suppose not until her fans do. Whenever she is on Fox News it's like a smart-alecky 4th grade brat sitting around the lunch table with her groupie friends.

Not only is Ann an a-double-crooked-letter hole, she is also a racist,a nd a white supremacist, in addition to being a hate hag.

I challenge Ol' Liar Ann to repeat her latest racist white supremacist attacks on Obama on black talk radio, specifically, on Chicago's black talk radio station WVON-AM 1690 http://www.wvon.com so I can hear WVON-AM 1690's black talk radio hosts Roland S. Martin and/or Clifford Kelley and/or Salim Muwakill and/or Dorothy Tillman all barbecue Ol' Liar Ann right after they're done barbecuing another racist white supremacist conservative hate hag Laura Ingraham.

      Nothing revealing.

      Nothing inquisitive.

      Nothing educational.

      Nothing substantial.

      Nothing informative.

NOTHING.  That's all we get from A. Hart Coulter.

Those labels also apply to the hideous band of theocrats, fascists, racists, sociopaths, and white supremacists who love Ol' Liar Ann, and many of them share the same personal indictments that Ol' Liar Ann has.

We shouldn't be suprised or even taken aback. This is the Republican smear gang. This is what they do, this is who they are. In their track record of irresponsibility and arrogance, they lack the political skill to defeat liberalism on the merits of conservatism. So they use replace debate with innuendo, strawmen and bogeymen.

What it comes down to is, they are scared sh*tless of the of the kind of grassroots movement an authentic liberal can stir. When people are made aware that they have a friend in government, that they are guaranteed a voice in our democracy, that is exactly when the corporatists, who have selfishly driven OUR government and OUR democracy down the road to ruin, that is when the elitists get nasty.

So brace yourselves, it's gonna get ugly on the Democratic nominee. (Ugly is all they have.)

To win, it's going to take a unified Democratic party working harder than the Republicans are. The good news is that the fruit of conservative failure is so ripe, that the only setback to getting the harvest in will be a lack of available people to undertake that monumental task.

It's time for black talk radio to declare all out WAR against Ol' Liar Ann Coulter!  Chicago's black talk radio station WVON-AM 1690 http://www.wvon.com AND the national black talk radio network XM 169/THE POWER are BOTH ready to declare WAR on Coulter AND her allies in the conservative media AND all of her racist white supremacist fans!

Excuse me Real, but do you work for radio station WVON-AM 1690, & are here doing PR for them? Seems you include them in 99.9% of your posts.

The answer, Jeter, is NO, I don't.  I am using WVON-AM 1690 as one of the keye elements in my challenge posts to Coulter, specifically, I am challenging Coulter and/or other racist white supremacist conservatives to repeat their racist white supremacist attacks on Obama on that or any other black talk radio station, so that black talk radio hosts like WVON's Roland Martin and/or Clifford Kelley and/or Dorothy Tillman can challenge and/or barbecue her for them!  So can the black callers who will feel inclined to barbecue Coulter like a steak!

Or are you saying that black talk radio has no right to comment on any of Coulter's lies and hate against Obama and/or anyone else?

What gets me about the "Annies' Sheep" is how stupid they are just by referring to Barack as Hussein. I will guess that 90% of those RIVOs, republans in vote only, don't even know that their hero, Romney isn't named Mitt..he is WILLARD.  Don't believe me, ask them. Hell. Cons won't even use their first names..guess Willard reminds eveyone of a rat.

Is Obama's middle name whipping the Dittoheads into a frenzy?  Do they hate and fear Saddam Hussein enough that Obama's middle name invokes that fear and hatred?  As a reasonable person, I always knew that Saddam wasn't and couldn't ever be a threat to the US.  Our occupation of Iraq has made it perfectly obvious that they NEED a man like Saddam to keep things under control.
