Rosen "Worst Person" "runner-up" for Mao comment
During the February 25 edition of MSNBC's Countdown, host Keith Olbermann named Fox News Washington correspondent James Rosen the "runner-up" in his nightly "Worst Person in the World" segment for asserting that the response Sen. Barack Obama received from the crowd at a campaign event was "[t]hat kind of spontaneous affection Chairman Mao only dreamed of." Olbermann stated: "The runner-up: James Rosen, who plays a reporter on Fixed News, ran a clip of Senator Obama interrupting himself to say, 'I'm going to blow my nose here for a second,' followed by crowds cheering. Rosen then said, quote, 'That kind of spontaneous affection Chairman Mao only dreamed of.' And that kind of spontaneous hack journalism Karl Rove only dreamed of."

Seems that these Troglodytes got over their revulsion toward John McCain pretty quickly, eh? After all, when you're paying these douchebags millions of dollars a year to disseminate your propaganda, you expect them to do as they're told, right?
I agree with you 100% except I call Rush,Sean, Glen, and all these so called conservitive talk show host just what they are. DICTATORS.They are the biggest dictators since Hitler. I call Sean Hannity America show Sean Hannity's Hate Americans. Sean and Rush are just complete IDIOTS.
Another thing I've noticed is that everything that these talk show host have been DICTATING is not working for them this year. Looks like they may have lost their clout and the American people have woke up. I hope so anyway.
Olbermann is a breathe of fresh air compared to what passes for cable-media today....
It makes one nostalgic for the good ol' days of TV being owned by everyone and profit and sensationalism were of little concern compared to the truth!
Nah, the cardinal sin around this joint is daring to say anything against St. Keith....
Jeter, I'll be the first to say he's over the top and leans to the left. But many of the accusations here are unfounded. Such as "Why doesn't he go after his own network instead of just Fox?" And my personal favorite: "he said Hillary played the Al-Qaeda card." Talk about over the top!
dbeden,
I only watch the first few minutes of Countdown before popping in a DVD or switching over to a basketball game or whatever. His negative attitude towards Hillary has been telling. Forget the Al-Qaeda card stuff, I'm talking about his general comments that belittle her while he, like his fellow compatriots gush over Obama.
I've never suggested MSNBC was worse than FOX. But I gotta tell ya, Matthews, Keith, Tucker & a handful of others at that network are giving Hannity & O'Reilly a run for their money when it comes to bias.
ST. Kieth's mother wears combat thongs!
And....Duck!
:0P
And don't forget the dunce cap ;-)
You'll have to forget the dunce cap, Jeter. George W. Bush is still using it....
JETER,
You can't be that simple minded.....can you be?
KO is many things but a saint? Who, besides you making the claim ever said this?
Is your presumption based on MMFA not beating up on KO, when its quite possible that they don't because he isn't a partisan hack like say BillO or Hannity or Coulter?
captfoster,
You can't be that simple-minded can you?
MMFA highlights news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda. Doesn't matter who says it. Even a usually Liberal-friendly person.
It's the MESSAGE not the Messenger.
And yeah St. Keith can be highlighted here, but never is, no matter what he says.
BTW I call him St. Keith because MMFA has gives him special treatment.
"And yeah St. Keith can be highlighted here, but never is, no matter what he says."
Have an example?
At least Obama lets everyone into his campaign events, unlike a certain President of the United States that is currently in the White House. How soon we forget the loyalty pledges you'd have to sign to get into a George W. Bush campaign event of 2000 and 2004. The very highly pre-screened people who got to ask "questions". I put that in quotes, because they were mostly not questions, but fawning admiration. Look at Bush now as well, he gives speeches only on friendly territory, or where the people listening in NEED to be respectful (ie, military bases).
Now what sounds more Mao like to you? Open events where people are excited, and or can protest if they so choose? Or closed events where you have to sign a loyalty oath/pledge just to get in the door? Hmm.... Makes one wonder doesn't it?
It was like that so-called "conservative" comedian that broke bad on 'Fox and Friends' last week, calling them out as the propagandists they are. The open mouthed shock on one of the "friends" was, as it's said, priceless.
MARY,
When you mentioned all the directions the way you did I had a case of deja vu and thought you were going to imply Rummy......er Rumsfeld and Tikrit and those WMD's that have yet to found in your post.......
Give POV a break. These are trying times for the stragglers of the neocon party. For a group so resistant to change, imagine the shock of having to make the most recent shift they're attempting;
Hillary was the (I get to use the phrase) "Presumptive Nominee". It was going to be a "coronation". So they directed every bit of their efforts at stopping Hillary. Easy work- with the shrill voice, cackle, etc. she was definitely "unlikable", and the mainstream media, through years of diligent research has figured out that Americans don't like things that are unlikable.
Then Obama displaced her. He doesn't have a shrill voice. He doesn't cackle. He isn't subject to criticism of his thighs. What were the wingnuts to do? He's very likable.
Easy. Obama is too likable. That's all they got.
Good luck to the GOP.They're working with the chosen one of their field of not-too-unlikable, not-too-likable candidates. They just have to get the votes of their emotionally delicate base that likes to avoid human qualities and personalities.
Hey Col.
Hard to argue with most of what ya said. McCain is not the guy most of us in the GOP would have picked....I have no problem admitting that. I also have no problem admitting that BO may very well beat him. A long way to go though, so I am not sure how it will play out.
What makes me laugh is the people here who deny an obvious bias this site has towards HC, and they way they almost wet themselves any time Saint Keith says anything. A long long time ago, I liked to watch him. Then he slowly became nothing more than the Rush of the left.
"McCain is not the guy most of us in the GOP would have picked"
if...?
Face it, he's your pick. I'm not registered with a political party, and Obama was not my #1, but I feel pretty comfortable with him as president.
I guess the MMFHRC theme isn't going to go away for any amount of reality, so enjoy.
Same with the St. Keith thing, I don't see that much gushing praise for him here, mostly along the lines of "Hey! there's a guy on TV that doesn't work for the white house!". I'm not sure who you think is that excited about KO, I wouldn't compare him to Rush Limbaugh by any stretch.
"McCain is not the guy most of us in the GOP would have picked"
if...?
That was my point, Solon. I think the spin from the 30%ers is that somehow The Media picked their candidate. I know it sounds ridiculous and counterintuitive to us that the majority of Republican support is going to the guy that the majority doesn't support, but let's just go along with it.
It must be rough to admit that you're in a dying minority, especially one that has relied on groupthink and popularity over logic and facts for so long. They don't have much left if they don't have a mob. ;0)
Funny. Senator McCain quoted "Chairman Mao" a couple of days ago when discussing how his compaign looked DOA and then picked up some speed.
"Remember, its darkest just before it goes totally black," was the humorous paraphrase from Top Gun John.
I understood why a man of the world might quote one of the most influential and powerful people of the 20th Century. But the Republican hysteria/hypocrisy toward Obama was choking me!
Perhaps I should have questioned McCain's patriotism or jabbered about how it makes me uncomfortable that he quoted a communist dictator rather than any of our founding fathers or with China's rise to a global superpower that finacnes so much of our material silliness and war , I don't think I want a guy in the White House who quotes Mao Tse Tung.
But I didn't. I took it in stride bacause I am smarter and more fair minded than most Republicans and I'm not even a Democrat.
"[t]hat kind of spontaneous affection Chairman Mao only dreamed of."
No, there's no spin here is there?
