Colbert mocked E.D. Hill for "terrorist fist jab" comment, NY Times' Brooks for referring to nonexistent Applebee's salad bars
On June 10, Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert mocked Fox News anchor E.D. Hill for her June 6 comment about Sen. Barack Obama and wife Michelle's on-stage "fist bump" on the final day of the Democratic presidential primaries, saying: "A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? The gesture everyone seems to interpret differently."
Earlier on June 10, Hill had said: "I mentioned various ways the Obamas' fist pump in St. Paul had been characterized in the media. I apologize because unfortunately, some thought I personally had characterized it inappropriately. I regret that. It was not my intention."
Colbert also ridiculed New York Times columnist David Brooks for his assertion that Obama "doesn't seem like the kind of guy who could go into an Applebee's salad bar, and people think he fits in naturally there." As Colbert and Media Matters for America noted, Applebee's restaurants do not have salad bars. Colbert then took a jab at Brooks and other journalists who have characterized Obama as an elitist, saying, "Nothing stings like being called an elitist by the humble working-class members of the media and politics."

Colbert is spot-on as always.
"Is he my hero ."
The Gov thought you were asking a question based on how your post appeared. He probably thought you just left off the question mark.
Colbert's show has been pretty great lately, same for the Daily Show. They're going to have some juicy material to work with over the next few months, judging by the ridiculous BS the GOP media seems reduced to.
They may pass Fox on the funny-meter.
The sick world of media spin and political BS is a much better place with Colbert and Stewart pointing out the absurdity of it all. Thank goodness they are around to hold their feet to the fire. Colbert and Stewart do a far greater service to the people than the likes of O'Reilly, Matthews, etc. could ever hope to do.
How come we haven't had the "why is this here post yet?"
Is Tommy taking the day off?
Well, Col., as I asked earlier, has Brooks ever BEEN to an Applebee's.
I have. I've ordered several menu items from them [Won't say which, I'm not getting paid to shill for them], but I know they don't have salad bars.
"OH SNAP, you said salad bar at APPLEBEE'S!!! LIKE DUH, eeeeevverrryone knows the salad bar is at Ruby Tuesdays! Next time you'll say Obama can't order fried green beans at OCHARLEY'S!!! What an IDIOT. Hey, why don't you go order a whopper at MCDONALD'S, Brooks? I mean SERIOUSLY, whoooo gets dime-a-dozen quick-order restaurants mixed up??"
The answer is elitist partisan Republican fools like David Brooks.
Word is that he tried to order a Big Classic from Hardee's, and when they didn't have any, he tried to order it from the Dairy Queen.
When was the last time David Brooks has ever been to an Applebee's?
Correction: Has David Brooks EVER been to Applebee's? If he had, he would have KNOWN they don't have salad bars, never have.
Or Chili's? Or T.G.I. Friday's? Those places don't have salad bars, either.
I'd wager that Brooks is in the top 2% of wage earners in this country. I happen to avoid thinking of the rich as being elite. I like to think of being elite as being accomplished in some fashion. No kid who inherits several meillion dollars is elite. Being rich is no consequence unless one has earned the money by dint of personal effort.
All that said, Brooks is the sleaziest kind of elite.
