SUMMARY: Discussing the California wildfires, Michael Savage said: "The Smokeys that are running around with .45's on their hips, the mean-faced, clipped-haired, fat-hipped women, would consult a 75-page manual and have to call Denver and get an answer in seven weeks about what to do before the forest fire could even be stopped." He also said he "suspects that there are agents of Iran who have set these forest fires to a certain extent."

Discussing the California wildfires on the July 10 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage said: "The Smokeys that are running around with .45's on their hips, the mean-faced, clipped-haired, fat-hipped women, would consult a 75-page manual and have to call Denver and get an answer in seven weeks about what to do before the forest fire could even be stopped. They don't know what to do. They have to consult a manual."

Earlier, Savage stated: "I'm going to raise something that no one has raised in the media. We've had a bunch of forest fires in California, a thousand of them over the last few weeks. Michael Savage suspects that there are agents of Iran who have set these forest fires to a certain extent, certainly not all of them." He also said: "[A] week ago, one of the Iranian psychos said publicly that 'we'll burn America down if you attack Iran, we have agents in place.' Why should I assume that in a wide-open country like this that Iranian agents are not setting forest fires? Why should I make the assumption they're not?"

Savage asserted that the "manual" that the "mean-faced, clipped-haired, fat-hipped women" were supposedly "consult[ing]" was written by bureaucrats "to make sure nobody's offended."

Talk Radio Network, which syndicates Savage's show, claims that Savage is heard on more than 350 radio stations. The Savage Nation reaches at least 8.25 million listeners each week, according to Talkers Magazine, making it one of the most listened-to talk radio shows in the nation, behind only The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Sean Hannity Show.

From the July 10 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: All right, John, now I'm going to raise something that no one has raised in the media. We've had a bunch of forest fires in California, a thousand of them over the last few weeks. Michael Savage suspects that there are agents of Iran who have set these forest fires to a certain extent -- certainly not all of them. Why do I say that, and where do I have the audacity to come up with a statement like that? Because a week ago, one of the Iranian psychos said publicly that "we'll burn America down if you attack Iran, we have agents in place." Why should I assume that in a wide-open country like this that Iranian agents are not setting forest fires? Why should I make the assumption they're not?

In fact, I would assume they are. Now, the reason they can get away with it is because that they found five agents with headdresses, with butane torches in a forest fire -- in a forest. The Smokeys that are running around with .45's on their hips, the mean-faced, clipped-haired, fat-hipped women, would consult a 75-page manual and have to call Denver and get an answer in seven weeks about what to do before the forest fire could even be stopped. They don't know what to do. They have to consult a manual. Why? Because the manuals are written by a bureaucrat. The bureaucrats write the manuals to make sure nobody's offended. They got to make certain, not that the forest doesn't burn, but that racial profiling does not occur. Now, you wouldn't want to make a Middle Easterner uncomfortable, even if you found him with a blowtorch in the middle of a tinderbox forest, would you?

You'd rather see -- see, the liberal mindset would say, "I'd rather see -- I'd rather see a thousand forests burn than one Middle Easterner arrested by mistake." That's the liberal mindset. They've said this for years. They've said this for 50 years, the liberals on the Supreme Court, the liberals on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Their mindset and the ACLU is, "I would rather see 99 guilty men go free than one innocent man arrested." So that's why I say they'd rather see a thousand forests burn than one Middle Easterner stopped because of racial profiling. And that's why America is on its knees, that's why the enemy is so emboldened, and that's the problem as I see it.

        Afraid not.

This s the mentality of the "typical" Savage fan, instead of blaming "the Jews" like Hal Turner's groupies do, Savage's groupies balme anything that goes wrong on the (fill in the blank enemy,) whether it's Saddam, (never mind he's dead,) Osama, "the Iranians," the "liberal" media, "da homer-sexer mafia," whoever and whatever.

The concept of natural disasters is just too much for their little minds to grasp, so they blame it on imaginary conspiracies, some sort of deity or semi-deity, whatever.

And Savage is laughing at his groupies, all the way to the bank.

First off, listing one reason for something is not placing total blame on it.  Second, that's neither a "conspiracy" nor blaming it on a deity.  Third, even if it was due totally to global warming, that would still be considered a "natural disaster".

Outside of those three major flaws, your comparison is spot-on.

              Thats an opinion of course.

Third, even if it was due totally to global warming, that would still be considered a "natural disaster".

Even when you claim that "global warming" is man-made?  Whats so "natural" about that?  The fact that the last two wildfires have contributed more CO2 than the US man made has in the last 10 years proves that sacrificing our living standard for a false man-made theory is ridiculous.

Yes, it would still be natural, since the cause of it is from nature.  The global warming would just make it more severe.

I would like to see a reliable reference on that fact, not a link to some denialists site. A good link is all it takes for me.  That amounts to 40 billion metric tons of CO2 per fire or somewhere around 150 billion tons of wood for each fire.   I am sceptical.

The reason you don't see the same argument with the penguins is because they're different species, and don't react the same way.

I'm really sorry something that simple needss to be explained to you, but I'm also not surprised that the simplest things need to be explained to you.

That makes sense if penguins are short, chubby, avian-shaped polar bears and polar bears are tall, bulky, mammal-shaped penguins.

I can't believe you don't know they are different species, or that different species adapt differently, or that the thickening ice sheet you are bragging about is due to RAIN FALL in a place commonly known for SNOW FALL.

Where do you science deniers come from? The Glenn Beck School of Political Know Nothings? I read Beck's book, An Inconvenient Book. It was laughable. He cites unscientific polls (21% of Americans THINK green house gases cause global warming; not scientists but people polled by CNN or a talking hotdog, what's the difference, it proves nothing) as proof that scientists don't know what they are talking about. He cites stories about global cooling, from newspapers and magazines, as proof why scientists, not newspaper editors, are wrong. Silliness begetting silliness.

Good luck in Science101. You'll need it.

Conservatives will pick up after themselves, liberals expect others to do the work for them while blaming others for causing it. Okay, this is for the Bush faithful who still do not understand the 1st Amendment: it protects from government infringement of free speech. Michael Savage does not have a Constitutional right to be on the radio anymore than I do. He is on the radio under the auspices of his employers, Talk Radio Network and the stations that syndicate his program. What is permissible and not is at their discretion.

So if I, for example, argue that he should be off the air, this is not an appeal to curtail free speech but an appeal to sanity. TRN and the stations which carry this garbage ought to apply SOME standard besides human DNA to who does and does not get a radio show. As for all other hurdles -- honesty, integrity, sanity -- Michael Savage fails miserably. My grandmother, at the end of her life, babbling incoherently about nothing was at least as lucid as Savage on his best day. Put senile dying people on the air. At least they have an excuse for sounding bat s**t clown hammer insane.

I think my point is a valid one. Savage/Weiner is Jewish. Ahmadinijad/Iran has said that they want to destroy the Jewish homeland.  Therefore, Savage/Weiner doesn't like Iran-and rightly so. It seems to me that people are overlooking the cultural context of Savage's comment.

It seems like those on the so-called left, listen to Savage's comments about Iran and only hear a ranting conservative racist, when in actuality, Savage is a Jewish man speaking about an enemy to his people.

Oh puh-leeze. That Savage is a Jew is damn near a coincidence. This ranting comes not from his being Jewish, but from being paid to incite right-wing dullards with radios. I doubt he himself believes this garbage.

He is not defending "his people" or anyone else.

There are millions of Jews who "defend their people" without resorting to forest-fire fantasies without a shred of evidence to back them up. His religion is irrelevant to his idiocy.
