On the August 11 edition of the syndicated radio program The War Room With Quinn & Rose, guest host Mike Pintek echoed right-wing blogs and websites in questioning the authenticity of Sen. Barack Obama's birth certificate, which was posted on the Obama campaign's Fight the Smears website in response to the false claim that Obama is not a natural-born citizen. Pintek asserted: "I still keep wondering about his birthplace and his birth certificate. I'm still not convinced that he actually was born a natural-born citizen." Pintek went on to add: "According to some people who know what they're talking about, who are experts on this, they say that the birth certificate that he's got on his website and has been posted to the Daily Kos and some other places, is -- it looks very much like a Photoshop deal and doesn't look legit."

Later in the broadcast, a caller asked Pintek whether "[t]he Republican Party could file a class-action suit ... against Obama demanding that he provide positive proof that he is a bona fide American citizen." Pintek responded that "it's actually happening in the blogs" and added: "[T]he last time I filled in for Quinn and Rose, a guy sent me info about his belief that the so-called Barack Obama birth certificate is actually Photoshopped."

In an August 13 article, The Honolulu Advertiser reported that Hawaii Department of Health spokeswoman Janice Okubo said that her office contacted the Obama campaign to find a solution to the repeated requests for Obama's birth certificate. She reportedly said that the Obama campaign "responded and apparently it isn't good enough that he posted his birth certificate." She reportedly added: "They say they want it because they claim he is not a citizen of the United States. It's pretty ridiculous."

The War Room With Quinn & Rose is a syndicated radio program based in Pittsburgh on Clear Channel's WPGB 104.7 FM. Talkers Magazine lists Quinn and Rose on its "Heavy Hundred." According to the show's website, it airs on 17 radio stations and XM Satellite Radio.

PINTEK: That brings us to -- back to Obama. Obama, he takes off, he's in Hawaii now. He claims that's his home. We wonder. I still keep wondering about his birthplace and his birth certificate. I'm still not convinced that he actually was born a natural-born citizen. I'm still not convinced about that. But we may never be able to prove that either without a real, honest-to-God birth certificate. Maybe one does not exist. You know, the one that they post -- they posted doesn't -- that looks like a Photoshop deal. According to some people who know what they're talking about, who are experts on this, they say that the birth certificate that he's got on his website and has been posted to the Daily Kos and some other places, is -- it looks very much like a Photoshop deal and doesn't look legit. So what's he hiding?

CALLER: Isn't there some way, or maybe I'm just wishing, that the Republican Party could file a class-action suit against Democrats -- against Obama demanding that he provide positive proof that he is a bona fide American citizen?

PINTEK: Well, that's a -- it's actually happening in the blogs. It's not a class-action suit. This would -- I don't know how you'd go about this. I guess you'd have to file some kind of a claim with the elections commission that Barack Obama's not a bona fide natural-born citizen and here's why and then force him to prove it. You would have to take -- somebody would have to go to court to do that. You could also continue to make it a campaign issue, as they are in the blogs. This is not an official Republican campaign issue. It's not an official John McCain issue. But this keeps popping up in the blogs, and just -- the last time I filled in for Quinn and Rose, a guy sent me info about his belief that the so-called Barack Obama birth certificate is actually Photoshopped. And he has a close-up there where it looks -- the name is in there, and it is -- and Barack's name appears to have been added later. In other words, it was text over an image of a blank birth certificate, and then you enter text on top of it. And this guy is a webmaster, and he says -- you know, he says, "I work with digital images all the time, and this one looks like it's been tampered with."

And then there's the issue of, you know, under Barack's father's race, it says "African." What? What race is that, exactly? If you -- go look at it -- Certificate of Live Birth, State of Hawaii, Honolulu, Barack Hussein Obama the second, date of birth August 4, 1961. His mother's maiden name: Stanley Ann Durham -- last name is Stanley Ann Durham or Ann Dunham or something like that. Father's name: Barack Hussein Obama. Mother's race: Caucasian. Father's race: African. Wouldn't that be -- wouldn't that be negroid? Or black? Why would you put "African" down there? Kind of weird, isn't it? It's just weird. It's like he's hiding something. Something's not right here. And maybe he is a bona fide natural-born citizen and this could be cleared up very easily. But it's not. So, kind of weird.

      I wonder what these two jokers think about the fact that McCain was actually not native born.  His camp would never bring up this bogus claim of Obama's birth certificate because they know that according to the letter of the Constitution and US law and precedent regarding the Panamanian canal zone, McCain was decidedly not born on US soil and therefore is technically not eligible to become POTUS.

        the obama stuff is rubbish, but mccain is a native born citizen by law.  being born on u.s. soil is not required.  i know a guy who was in the navy for fifteen years and whose oldest son was born in tripoli.  i would not want to tell him his son is any less of a citizen.

          He's a citizen by virtue of the fact that his parents are citizens, not that he was born in another country.

          But the CR for being president is more restrictive-- he has to be born in the U.S.-- which Canal Zone was.

            Neither the Canal zone nor any foreign military base are US soil.  Under the law, he is a US citizen, but not a natural born citizen.

            not really because romney's dad was born in mexico to american citizens and when he ran for president in 1968, it was pretty much accepted he was eligible.

              I'm not trying to make too big of an issue of this, but while Romney, and McCain for that matter, were assumed eligible, there never has been an actual judicial ruling on that matter for him or anyone else.

          I'm not claiming that he is not a citizen, but the Wikipedia article you link to confirms my point that, while there has not been any judicial test of this issue with regards to the 14th amendment, current law and policy indicates that those people born abroad, on military bases or not, are statutory citizens and not natural born citizens.  They are still full citizens, but may not meet the requirements for President under the 14th amendment.

            the first congress actually addressed the issue and said that as long as both parents were citizens, the child was native born.  there is no one clear cut decision, but i think most people accept that mccain is eligible.

              One article I read about this contained a point about how the Founding Fathers would never intend that someone born to someone serving our military in any location would be denied eligibility.  While there is an argument that McCain is not "natural-born", it is sort of hard to take it too seriously because it's so hard to believe that it's consistent with our founding principles.  I think that's a big part of why he's widely considered to be eligible, even when that reason isn't specifically expressed.

          Perhaps Democrats could reap a big sum of money if the stupid Republicans do make a court case out of it.  I actually knew the nurse who worked at the hospital in Hawaii where Obama was born.  But all Republicans do is blab and make waves but they do not have the guts to make a legal complaint of the issue because they know very well that Obama is an American citizen.  Drives them nuts though.  Poor things are so stupid about the actual rules for US citizenship even after all their flag waving.

      Living in Pittsburgh, I listen to this show in the early AM when on the road, as well as others. Jim Quinn is an O'Reilly wannabe, sexual harassment gig in his past with another radio station and fellow employee. Mike Pintek used to be on KDKA 9am-12pm as a talk show host but his contract was not renewed about 1 1/2 years ago, giove or take.

      Mike is just trying to make a name for himself. He was a middle of the road talk guy with slight leanings to the right. But now, being on this show, you must be a lunatic rightie to get any airtime.

      This nonsense about the birth certificate has been going on for weeks. But one must look at the demographics of this show...Pittsburgh, Central Pa, a/k/a Alabama and small radio outlets in Ohio and West, byGod, Virginia.

      The listeners and callers are destined to always follow the lowest common denominator...hatred for anything not Republican. If you could hear the folly that goes on, you would laugh. (They are also on Sirrus or whatever). Quinny has a stupid rule he promotes that whatever a liberal does it generates the opposite..some crap like that. And you can never trust a liberal???

      Quinny is the jerk that always has information that is too classified to be aired thru Son of Deep Throat which may be Quinny himself. He has inside info about everything but nothing comes to fruition. But his listeners just wait and wait and wait. He actually believes that the tape of Mrs. Obama exists..but as usual, cannot produce the tape or his inside the White House source. Quinny is ready to fight everyone because he is the perfect American with the exception that he is usually a day behind the talking points. He doesn't realize that he is a parrot for Rush and Seannie the Sissy. Somedays, he comments on things that have been debunked by his fellow Con talk show hosts the previous day. Quinny reads, verbatim, other Bloggers posts off the Rightie .coms and tries to make it sound like he is speaking his mind, except when he stutters over words and retraces his ad-lib comments. He is a FRAUD.

      Pintek on the other hand is trying to work. I don't feel bad for him, but feel sorry for him to have lowered himself to the bottom of the talk show PIT, the Quinn and Rose Show.

      For the love of God, Mike, come to your senses..you know this is junk radio. I'm rooting for you because you were good on KDKA and were replaced by a nothing.

      P.S. They fawn over Seannie the Sissy and were actually on his show a few times.

        I just had my birth certificate out recently. It, too, looks like it's had text added over a blank birth certificate.That's how most forms look when you fill them out, you numbskulls. Text is added to a blank form. Can you just picture the mouth-breathers drinking this stuff in ? They probably almost lose their grip on their Bible and gun for a second.

          And, Colonel, it is not the provider of the information, such as the mother, who actually types the information onto a birth certificate form. I can't tell you how many times I've seen incorrect information typed onto a hospital or government form.

      Tuned in at 9am (Thursday) to hear Pintek....Top of the hour, he is asking why the Messiah, B. Hussein Obama is still on vacation while Putin is disobeying the Messiahs' orders concerning Georgia!!!! I'll listen until 9:30 to find out if any of his RITO's call in about MMFA article...come to think of it, the fourth hour is usually a repeat of the first hour.

        This whole issue would go away instantly if Obama would produce a valid birth certificate instead of that ridiculous amateurish forgery on KOS and Smears.  We can only speculate as to the reason he won't (born in Kenya?).  I can't wait for Hillary to pull something really dramatic in Denver such as Obama's real birth certificate or his Kenyan or Indonsesian passport/citizen documents thus making it impossible for him to continue his campaign because he is Constitutionally disqualified.  Maybe his vacation in Hawaii was really for the purpose of getting the corrupt Democrats there to gin up another, more believable forgery.  His only problem then would be whether the ink dries in time for the convention.

          Dambodil, could you please supply what you consider a "valid" birth certificate which you think Obama should equal. Your confusion has been debunked by many Cons websites.  Use the internets. P.S. Do you really think that the slimeballs that work for Limbaugh, Hannity and that ilk haven't looked this over. Trust me, you didn't just come up with this 6 month old conspiracy therory.

          I would make a wager that no matter what Obama presented, it would not be enough for you. So go back to your fingerpaint and staring out the window. And remember, everybody is watching. NONSENSE.

          Umm, he did produce his birth certificate. End of story. The man was born in Hawai'i, which is actually IN the United States, as opposed to the Panama Canal Zone, which physically was NOT in the United States. You don't hear me calling for McCain to get tossed from the campaign do you?

      Just like everybody else, I pulled out my birth certificate for examination. Naturally, I haven't looked at it in a long time (it's on papyrus). The "Father's Name" blank says, "unknown". Many years ago my mother told the story of my birth (not the one in the New Testament. Unlike other parents, who will remain nameless, she did not consider me the son of God. I do recall being called "JE-SUSS CHRIST!" whenever I did something really stupid.) At the time of my birth, my father was hundreds of feet down in a salt mine in South Louisiana. My mother was unconscious (I hope). The attending nurse and/or doctor filled out the birth certificate with the information he or she could get at the time. The handwriting appears to be done with a quill from a bird. Years passed. Whenever someone called me a bastard, I could produce documented proof.

        from what i can tell, csection is not natural birth.  do we know if obama was delivered by csection, or if his conception was immaculate, as he would have us believe, then that is not natural either.

      Quinn and Rose are local Pittsburgh products.  Quinn is a former diskjockey who has had a conservative radio talk show for years and is very much a Rush Limbaugh or a Sean Hannity wannabe.  Rose is his "Christian" counterpart.  Quinn spews hate towards Democrats and Liberals--they are the cause of everything bad in our country.  He characterizes them as "commies, pinkos, marxists" constantly.  Mike Pintek replaced a "liberal" tv talkshow host.  There are very few "liberal" radio talk show hostS in the Burgh.

      Why don't these right wing radio talkers just day "duh" for an hour or so.  It would be so much nicer for the listeners.

      McCain was born in the country of Panama. Do they talk much about that?
