SUMMARY: Appearing on the syndicated radio show of Alex Jones -- who claims to be "considered by many to be the grandfather of what has come to be known as the 9/11 Truth Movement" -- Jerome Corsi baselessly claimed that as a child, "Obama got Islamic instruction, and it wasn't mainstream Islamic instruction." Jones asserted that "we should not have anybody as president who -- both their parents aren't Americans," saying "this allows infiltration," later saying of Obama: "He is a ringer, folks. He's meant to take a dive for John McCain. So this is nonpartisan. The facts are in. He will be destroyed in this election."
On August 4, author Jerome Corsi, appeared on the syndicated radio program The Alex Jones Show -- the host of which is described on his website as "considered by many to be the grandfather of what has come to be known as the 9/11 Truth Movement" -- to promote his book The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality (Threshold Editions, August 2008). During the interview, Corsi baselessly claimed that as a child, "Obama got Islamic instruction, and it wasn't mainstream Islamic instruction," after which host Alex Jones asserted that "we should not have anybody as president who -- both their parents aren't Americans," saying "this allows infiltration." After further discussing family members of Obama's who are Muslim, Jones asserted of Obama: "He is a ringer, folks. He's meant to take a dive for John McCain. So this is nonpartisan. The facts are in. He will be destroyed in this election."
An August 14 posting on the New York Times' political blog The Caucus reported on a January 29 appearance on the show by Corsi, in which he "discuss[ed] the findings of Steven Jones, physicist and hero of the '9/11 Truth' movement who claims to have evidence that the World Trade Center towers collapsed due to explosives inside the building, not just the planes hitting them, during the attacks." The Caucus described "Alex Jones's radio show" as "a forum for those who take a deeply skeptical view of government claims about the attacks," and wrote that Corsi's "book about Senator Barack Obama appears to have distracted him from another project he was planning in January: exposing what he calls the government's inadequate explanations about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center." From The Caucus:
A YouTube video making the rounds, especially among Obama supporters, mocks Mr. Corsi for a Jan. 29 interview on Alex Jones's radio show, a forum for those who take a deeply skeptical view of government claims about the attacks. (Mr. Corsi also frequently talks about the "North American Union" and other threats from globalization during his appearances).
The clip has Mr. Corsi discussing the findings of Steven Jones, physicist and hero of the "9/11 Truth" movement who claims to have evidence that the World Trade Center towers collapsed due to explosives inside the building, not just the planes hitting them, during the attacks.
"The fire, from jet fuel, does not burn hot enough to produce the physical evidence that he's produced," Mr. Corsi said. "So when you've got science that the hypothesis doesn't explain-evidence-then the hypothesis doesn't stand anymore. It doesn't mean there's a new hypothesis you've validated. It just means the government's explanation of the jet fuel fire is not a sufficient explanation to explain the evidence of these spheres-these microscopic spheres-that Steven Jones has proved existed within the W.T.C. dust."
From the August 4 Alex Jones Show audio clip, posted on YouTube.com on August 5:
CORSI: Well, once they understand that, blacks may understand that this Obama is not the guy they thought he was. I also have traced Obama's connections into Africa very thoroughly --
JONES: Yeah, let's stop there. That's what I wanna cover for the rest of the show, because you've broken a lot of the stuff that's already been documented in the mainstream news, from new connections that weren't, Dr. Corsi. Let's get into Barack Hussein Obama. Is he really a Muslim? Was his dad --
CORSI: Yes.
JONES: -- really a Muslim? OK, go ahead and tell us.
CORSI: Well, first of all, Obama says he never got Islamic instruction. It's not true. In Indonesia, and he was there from 6 to 9, his Islamic stepfather registered Obama -- even in the Catholic school, he registered him as a Muslim, and then in the public school, at least one year, maybe two, Obama got Islamic instruction, and this wasn't mainstream Islamic instruction, and --
JONES: Wait, wait, wait -- that is bombshell, Dr. Corsi.
CORSI: Yes.
JONES: That is bombshell because -- not that he's really a Muslim, that he's lied about it --
CORSI: He's lying. Exactly.
JONES: -- and we should not have anybody as president who -- both their parents aren't Americans. Bottom line, that's always been the way it is. They even passed laws in Europe against people from outside becoming president or chancellor, it -- because this allows infiltration. You're telling me -- tell us the proof in your book that Barack Obama did attend Muslim school.
CORSI: Well, the first proof is that I found a line in Obama's own autobiography where he admitted it.
JONES: Unbelievable.
CORSI: He says in one passing line, in about a page -- in the middle of the book, Obama says his mother was angry at him because he made faces in Quran studies, and you know, that one sentence validated it. Then the Indonesian newspapers, which I translated, and the Indonesian television went back and interviewed schoolmates of Obama. They said he attended Islamic instruction in the public school. They also said that all four years that Obama was there, he went to mosque with his father [sic], Lolo Soetoro.
JONES: So, it's not a rumor -- yeah, it's not a rumor. His stepfather was a Muslim. He has --
CORSI: Yes.
JONES: -- family, brothers and people that are Muslims. And so, bottom line, he has been lying the entire time. And that's why they put him up there. He is a ringer, folks. He's meant to take a dive for John McCain. So this is nonpartisan. The facts are in. He will be destroyed in this election.

Andrew Jackson's father, Andrew Jackson, Sr., was born in Ireland.
Andrew Jackson's mother, Elizabeth Hutchison Jackson, was born in Ireland.
James Buchanan's father, James Buchanan, was born in Ireland.
Andrew Johnson's father, Jacob Johnson, may have been born in Ireland.
Chester Arthur's father, William Arthur, was born in Ireland.
Woodrow Wilson's mother, Jessie Janet Woodrow Wilson, was born in England to Scottish parents.
Herbert Hoover's mother, Hulda Minthorn Hoover, was born in Canada.
Do you suppose what Alex Jones is saying is that it is OK to be from England, Ireland, or Canada but not from Kenya?
Not that I would EVER defend Jones's or Corsi's idiocies, but the Constitution specifically states that the natural-born citizenship requirement did not apply to those alive during its signing. Of course, Jones is applying an even stricter standard than the Constitution does, but I just thought that we should note that.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a tinfoil hat which needs wearing.
What a bunch of absurd nonsense. How are you not a US Citizen when you are BORN IN THIS COUNTRY? What kind of test you fascists want? How muhc racial purity will satisfy you Nazi's? If your born here, your an American. Period. How this can even be a grey area is beyond me.
It's been downhill ever since they enacted THAT stupid bit of legislation...
Yeah. That darned CONSTITUTION. SO incovenient for you, isn't it.
I'm afraid that a nap isn't the answer. You probably made the same mistake I did, and read the Jones/Corsi exchange, didn't you?
I'm so scared that it won't be reversible...
You'd have to change the US Constitution in order for that to happen. - MagnoliaLover
Maybe WPE Bush can just add a signing statement to it redefining what it means.
I second your post there Rabbit....
Wait a second.... I thought that Alex Jones was one of the good guys? He believes that Bush/Cheney/Rummy were behind 9/11.... I still get emails that try and prove as much..... and now he's against Obama and embracing this dog Corsi?
It is a foregone conclusion that Grampy McSame would be another four years of Bush doctrine..... one might think that Alex Jones would be pro-Obama and then some if for any other reason...... Its all very confusing.
I want to comment on this...but while reading Corsi and Jones, my brain just melted and ran out my ears.
I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it...
My wife works in a bookstore. I went in yesterday to meet her for lunch. While I waited for her to finish ringing up a customer and go clock out, I picked up Corsi's book.
I decided to conduct a thoroughly unscientific experiment.
I told myself I could flip to any random page, start reading at any random point on that page, and within three sentences I would find a distortion, falsehood, or reference to a grossly partisan source entirely lacking in credibility.
So I did. Three times. And three times, my theory was supported.
It really shouldn't be that easy. That's Jonah Goldberg territory right there. And you know when you're approaching Goldberg on the academic honesty scale, you're in trouble.
I'm surprised you were even able to even find a copy, the way they've been "flying off the shelves"...
Look at it this way - you did more research to prove your hypothesis than Corsi did. I'd say it's time for you to write a book.
Yes...
Yesssss, wingnuts.
Embrace Corsi.
Embrace him, hold him tightly to your bosom. Bask in his wingnutty glow.
Continue to place stock in his partisan, racist screed.
Show us your true colors.
Looks like I just found some of Coursi's base...

Oh, to have been present for this
I think this speaks for itself:
By Jonathan Martin 05:35 PM
Uhm.. Why didn't the Democrats take the cake to the Homeless shelter themselves instead of wasting it on a cheap political stunt?
Pot meet kettle.
I did.
You didn't.
Maybe they were planning on doing just such a thing, until your "people" grabbed it, and tossed it away. Or maybe they were going to eat it themselves.
Why do republicans hate Social Security so much? Why do they hate cake? I thought that everyone liked cake.
Deez,
The same can be said about any three sentences you write here. :-)
snoop,
How about sticking to the thread for a change?
10q
Rabbit,
If you can prove those were Republicans you might have a point.
However the fact that you are attempting to smear the entire Republican Party and everyone in it with this example as "guilt by association" shows your own political bigotry.
It is laughable that you are reduced to such absurd comments. But it is Friday and I appreciate the humor.
Rabbit,
Thanks for self identifying yourself as a "defender of the kool-aid". You proved my point.
Oh really? You go back and look at those sick disgusting posts and you come back and tell me who the HELL needs to be called out. You tell me that the filth wanting to eliminate Obama and liberals should just get a free pass. Defend your filthy vile side. Come on, I DARE you!
Nugent is a fetid piece of human excrement.
At least he was when it came time for his draft physical.
http://www.thedailypage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42482&view=next
He's no different from all those 'tough-guy' actors, musicians, and talk show hosts who talk a 'tough' talk but turn into snivelling little PUSSIES when it's time to walk the walk. A bunch of friggin Rambo-wannabes... except they forget that Rambo is fiction, not the real deal.
Rabbit,
Here's a napkin. :-)
Whacko's threatening to kill others is not "my side". So why would I defend them? I don't. However since, unlike you, I don't proclaim to know more about these unnamed people than is reported. It would be great if you could provide the source proving your contention they are right wingers. For all I know they could be you playing dirty tricks.
Nugent's rant was part of his act. If anyone takes that seriously, the joke is on them. I don't condone it and I don't buy his records... oops... cds. As an aside, I do believe there are rappers who have recorded similar lyrics regarding killing Bush. Funny I don't believe I ever have seen you say they are all left-wingers and have you castigate them?
Your generalization that is one particular side is way out there. Time to dial down your hate-o-meter. After all, its weekend! Have a good one.
Do you believe that or can you prove it?
The right is hate, AA. Own it, buddy. It's what y'all are, it's what y'all do. Here this will make it all better ;) Emoticons. Golly, I love 'em.
You can say this crap from the right is an act, or a joke, or libs in disguise but when the bodies hit the floor they something in common. They were liberals.
Are you equating the authors of articles on Daily Kos to the hate on the right or those who leave comments on that blog, RH? Name one liberal author who spews the hate and lies of Corsi who is invited on all of the cable networks and gets that type of consistent audience. Name one liberal author who writes that kind of crap and gets to plug it on the news.
Keith Olbermann spews hate and lies on a regular basis. He hatefully smears conservatives with personal attacks on his show. And what are the hateful parts of Corsi's book to which you refer? It seems to me that he mostly hammers Obama on the issues.
But being the extremist you are, I can see why you dig him.
I mean Corsi has been debunked here, I'm not going to waste time repeating it. And what, the guy is making appearances on a white power, supremacist...whatever hate station, but that isn't sponsorship from the extreme fringe.
It ain't my fault that your a punk apologist intentionally ignoring very real examples by me and others here.
You're a dishonest troll, rino.
What the hell is wrong with you?
Ok, RH, put up or shut up:
1) Post the lies and the vile personal attacks by KO. Show me worse things than Hannity, O'Reilly, etc.
2) Corsi lied about Obama not addressing his father's alcoholism, and flaws in general inferring that Obama was ok with his flaws. Corsi attacked the marriage of Obama's parents as being illegal. Corsi claimed that Obama did not dedicate his book to his parents, another lie. Corsi says that Obama declared his religion to be Islam (smearing the religion by implication), Corsi lied about Obama's drug use, he claimed that Obama was inspired by black rage, he claimed that Obama called his grandparents racists, claimed that the Somali garb Obama wore proved a connection between Obama and Islam when the clothing had no religious significance, he claimed that Obama supported Communists in Kenya, that Obama inserted himself in Kenyan politics, claimed his father was a communist based on his academic work, that Obama contributed $$ to Odinga in Kenya, that Ayers made hostile comments based on 9/11, that Obama avoided questions about Rezko when confronted by newspaper writers (and tons of other lies about Rezko such as Obama represented him as an attorney), he lied about Obama's community organizing experience, said that Obama was behind Farakhan, claimed plagiarism, attacked Michelle Obama's patriotism, claimed that Stokely Carmichael was an inspriation for Michelle's Princeton thesis, claimed a Hamas endorsement of Obama.
Should we even go into the emails circulating about Obama? Should we go into the smears telling how Obama is anti-American? Show me the same tactics about McCain.
Rino Pwned.
If that is all you have about KO's hate, you have fallen far short of O'reilly's constant hate for those on the left. I asked you if you were referring to comment writers or article writers on Kos, you didn't reply. I also asked you this: Should we even go into the emails circulating about Obama? Should we go into the smears telling how Obama is anti-American? Show me the same tactics about McCain. You didn't respond.
The refutations from Corsi's book are on Obama's fight the smears page and they quote news reports. Read them here: http://obama.3cdn.net/a74586f9067028c40a_5km6vrqwa.pdf
That page gives Corsi's lies, then newspaper news stories refuting them. You can decide for yourself. He is a bigot, RH. Check out his bigoted statements in the pdf as well. But, he is being held up by Fox and conservatives as a truth teller.
Really RH? When was the last time a liberal issued death threats against a conservative. When was the last time liberal shot up a conservative church - heck, when was the last time a liberal shot anyone? I wonder what the political leanings of most Klan members are. How about people that engage in "f-g bashing"?
You people who ignore the right wing extremists on radio and tv are such sick bastards.
Jim Adkisson killed liberals, just a couple of weeks ago, because he hated liberals. If that's not an example, I don't know what is.
You're so pathetic with your stupid literalist bullcrap. "Duuhhhh. Well I didn't say such a thing..."
Hate speech is prevalent on the right. Just look at the hateful, language of violent imagery MMFA has documented today alone.
Touting Corsi book, Limbaugh falsely claimed that Obama voted to "allow doctors and patients to murder babies"
Jonah Goldberg: "Obama won't be able to take a shower without fear of" one of the Clintons "prepar[ing] to plunge the knife into his back"
WorldNetDaily founder refers to "attempted media lynching of Jerry Corsi"
In case you didn't notice, that stuff is the definition of eliminatioist rhetoric. I get it, though, blind boy. You are OK with hate speech, it's effective. It keeps getting Republicans re-elected, that's why you're alright with it.
But you do approach a point. I am very aggressive and I am very much a lefty. I make no apologies for it either.
Hateful? Me? No.
Radicalized by insane righty haters? Yes. I'm simply tired of being nice in the face of proud idiots like you. I'm sick of apologists like you. I'm sick of partisan purists like you, I mean RINO hunter? Really? You're out to purify, to cleanse the right but you're no extremist? It's no wonder you think everyone here is liberal wacko, you're so far down the yellow brick road you'll never get back to Kansas.
And don't act surprised that you get called names here, you know you come here to provoke anger with your dishonest trolling. And you are epically dishonest.
Look, all we're doing now is polluting the thread here. I'm done. You're a waste of time.
My apologies to everybody here who had to wade past this exchange.
You're a pig.
Show me.
Show me where I called, or even implied, such a thing about you.
And sorry to get so heated up over this.
No. You started painting with broad brushes with your original statement.
Posters on this site, or any other, cant seriously be considered "people in the media."
You can pretend that you don't get my original point. But I think deep down inside you know I'm right.
If you can prove those were Republicans you might have a point.
AA, you need an "easy" button.
Akennas writes: Wednesday, June, 11, 2008 2:17 AM The GOP is losing because they have compromised their principles, trying to gain the approval of the left, trying to be DEM-lite. If the GOP had stuck to conservative principles, best expounded by Ronald Wilson Reagan, it would have today an insurmountable majority in all significant circles of power. That is the one thing for which I have difficulty forgiving either Bush 41 or Bush 43: rather than build on the Reagan legacy, they squandered it
That's a pretty funny admonishment... Coming from you.
Gosh, AA. I'm hurt you'd say that.
Nah, not really
I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings. Glad you didn't take it that way.
I think most people will agree that both the news article and your cut and paste note have nothing to do with the subject at hand in this thread.
Who cares... except you, of course. It does, despite your protests, confirm that the Right harbors hateful vile people who seem to have no qualms about taking out Obama and those who agree with him.
Protest all you want, son. The evidence is there in black and white. Your side is all about hate and eliminationist rhetoric. Your side is unworthy of respect.
Piss off. Seriously. Take your snarkiness with you.
Your side has lost what shred of respect it had from yours truly. Game over.
Mags,
We can disagree, and we do but it has a basis in reality. I realize about half the voters right now will vote for Obama and about half will vote for McCain. I don't think of most of them as kool-aid drinkers. That is reserved for special people who believe the "other side" is the repository of evil villains.
Besides, mindless ranting, outrage, and name-calling just because someone disagrees with you is so passe.
It's been fun. I'm off to a campout with my kids. Have a great weekend everyone.
RH,
Ann Coulter routinely throws out death threats against liberals. Look what she said about John Paul Stevens. Earlier, you made comments about Daily Kos. Were you referring to the articles or the posters of comments? Also, you never told me which smear merchant authors like Corsi on the left get an audience like his in the media. Do any?
Also, how does it feel to be a RINO, RH?
Well, Ron Paul got the 4th most delegates of all the Republican candidates, so I think there's still room for dissenting views within the party. But the one thing that binds us all is the belief in lower taxes and smaller government, which is why we all strongly oppose OBama.
As for Coulter, I don't know where you got the word "routinely" from. You came up with one incident in which she was joking. I think it was wrong of her to say that, but you don't honestly think she was being serious do you?
Please read my whole posts:
Earlier, you made comments about Daily Kos. Were you referring to the articles or the posters of comments? Also, you never told me which smear merchant authors like Corsi on the left get an audience like his in the media. Do any?
New McCain memo leaked!
...saying of Obama: "He is a ringer, folks. He's meant to take a dive for John McCain.
Sooo... Obama's just the patsy... Sounds to me like a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma...
WITH? Isn't this a left-wing movement? I thought Cynthia McKinney was active with this group.
I love it. left wing group is promoting right wing distortions. hahahaha
TGIF!
No, it's NOT a left wing movement. It's a whacko anti government movement. From their mission statement:
TO EXPOSE the official lies and cover-up surrounding the events of September 11th, 2001 in a way that inspires the people to overcome denial and understand the truth; namely, that elements within the US government and covert policy apparatus must have orchestrated or participated in the execution of the attacks for these to have happened in the way that they did.
TO PROMOTE, and in part to provide, the best in investigative reporting, scholarly research and public education regarding the suppressed realities of September 11th, its aftermath and exploitation for political ends, the toxic air cover-up, and the anthrax attacks; mindful always of standards of fact and logic, the limits of what we know in the absence of official investigative powers, and the dangers of rumor and unconfirmed or false claims.
TO ORGANIZE and network grassroots communities promoting truth and reform; and to support their development with materials, coaching, conference calls, working retreats, and other tools to enhance the people's democratic powers; and to promote global grassroots cooperation to halt corporatist crimes, abuse and dominion worldwide.
TO SEEK justice and redress for those wronged on September 11th, or as a result of the events, beginning with complete disclosure of all records and evidence; reversal of all domestic and foreign policies following from the false premises of the official story; and full accountability for any and all individuals inside and outside the US government involved in the attacks who engaged in crimes of commission, facilitation, complicity, gross negligence, cover-up or obstruction of justice after the fact.
TO ADVANCE the insight that ending a world in which 9/11-type and other "synthetic" events dictate the agenda requires the fall of the present US and global system of warfare and fraud, of secret government and hidden economics, of power concentrated in the hands of the vanishingly few; the rebirth of constitutional, open and accountable republican institutions with absolute protection for the natural rights and liberties of human beings; the rise of popular sovereignty over polity and economy; and commitment to the purposes of truth and justice, freedom and equality, peace and solidarity among human beings of all lands, and security and a sustainable living for all; cognizant that the tensions inherent among these purposes are to be addressed and resolved only in an open and peaceful fashion by a sovereign, educated and fully informed people who always hold truth first.
TO END, by way of integrity and god-given creativity, the regime and illicit power structures responsible for 9/11 and to replace the system that made 9/11 necessary. We solicit collaboration with others who are committed to achieving these goals by way of peaceful transformation.

Looks like a bunch o' kooks to me.
TGIF and congratulations.
All of the usual thread derailers seem to be on vacation today. Some 80+ posts on this thread and you are the only one on job with 10-15% of the posts.
He went on the Alex Jones Show!?!?!?!
Alex F'ing Jones!!!!!!
Jeebus on a bike even I'VE heard of this nutcase!! George Galloway had him on his radio show a couple of months ago and he was talking about the New World Order and Eugenics. Nothing can deter the faith of a true believer like Jones so its best not to try.
I have to say though, if you are looking for credibilty for your work, being interviewed by Radio KKK, 9/11 nutcase AM and the weatherman on Murdoch's Wingnut Cable News should stop you claiming any. In the real world that would count as three strikes, but then bushbots write their own reality don't they!!
"The clip has Mr. Corsi discussing the findings of Steven Jones, physicist and hero of the "9/11 Truth" movement who claims to have evidence that the World Trade Center towers collapsed due to explosives inside the building, not just the planes hitting them, during the attacks."
It sounds like this guy is as much of a left wing fanatic as he is a right wing fanatic. I heard him say on T.V. the other day that he isn't voting for either McCain or Obama. This guy isn't a partisan who is simply trying to destroy Obama. Media Matters and the Obama campaign are wrong for implying that.
Wingnut,
The fact that Corsi believes that the government orchestrated 9-11 shows that he isn't any kind of a conservative. He may be an anti-government nut case, but he isn't a partisan conservative. He's supporting Chuck Baldwin for President. He isn't shilling for McCain in any way.
"and wrote that Corsi's "book about Senator Barack Obama appears to have distracted him from another project he was planning in January: exposing what he calls the government's inadequate explanations about the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center."
Media Matters already pointed out for you that Corsi was planning on writing a book bashing the Bush administration for planning 9-11. Thanks for bringing that up. You do realize that it's mostly the far left who believes in these nutty conspiracy theories don't you?
Rino,
His book is full of easily disputable lies. They have read enough of the book to see that. The National Review thinks his book is full of it. Thank you for admitting he is a righty who, to this point, has only smeared the left. Please, if he does start a media tour slamming the right, let me know.
He has been all over the Denver radio stations.
There should be a Constitutional amendment that requires at least one of your parents to be an American citizen for you to be considered one, no matter where you are born. Border babies should not be allowed.
Just because someone was able to cross the border in time to have a baby should not entitle that baby to be a citizen and then anchor there parent here by extension.
Dam Constitution..let's put it to a vote. All of it...hell, who needs those stinkin'rules that have worked for over 200 years. Hell, President Bush showed us we don't need them. DOWN WITH THE CONSTITUTION.
There, feel better.
..."Steven Jones, physicist and hero of the '9/11 Truth' movement who claims to have evidence that the World Trade Center towers collapsed due to explosives inside the building, not just the planes hitting them, during the attacks." ...
corsi believes this... doesn't 'rosie'(o'donnell) believe this too... they are on the same page??
