On the August 14 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage claimed that "America is being overrun by an invasion force from Mexico that'll soon take over the country." Savage later stated: "If you look at the countries around the world where most of these immigrants have come from, you will see autocratic regimes, you will see drug dealers running the nation. You will see people living like serfs, and you will see the future face of America." Later in the show, after airing a clip of a news report stating that immigration, higher birth rates among immigrants, and an aging white population are "a couple of factors" responsible for America's changing demographics, Savage stated: "And you think the gang-banger with baggy pants is going to pay for your retirement, you liberal fools? As Media Matters for America has noted, Savage has frequently made inflammatory remarks about immigrants. For instance, Savage recently claimed that "[i]llegal aliens" have "raped and disheveled" the Statue of Liberty and added that "[w]e need to get our troops out of Iraq and put them on the streets of America to protect us from the scourge of illegal immigrants who are running rampant across America, killing our police for sport, raping, murdering like a scythe across America while the liberal psychos are telling us they come here to work." Additionally, while criticizing first lady Laura Bush's June 20 World Refugee Day speech, Savage said, "We're getting refugees now who have never used a telephone, a toothbrush, or toilet paper. You're telling me they're going to assimilate? They will never assimilate. They come here and they bring their destitute ways to this country, and they never assimilate." He continued: "And then their children become gang-bangers. It is a disaster. Did you hear what I just said? A disaster."

Mike Savage is correct in his thinking, that illegal immigration is not just hurting a few states, but every state in the union.
These politicians, advocates, pundits, better realize that illegal immigration is not going to be an issue they can brush under the rug. It's no longer Democrat versus Republican, or in this case Democrats are adverse to the original planned border fence and anything that has a sweet smell of rigid immigration enforcement. But I'm not even saying that the Democrats are the worst advocates of enforcing a laws, because many of the Republicans are pre-owned by the International Globalists.

If people from another country come here, put down roots, become good members of society, work hard, and are decent good people, guess what happens? When I read that, I can only think of some Mexican version of Savage in California 200 years ago saying the same thing in reverse. The difference is that back then it turned out to be true.
I've worked the fields with many an immigrant worker (I suspect many were illegal) and I have never met such warm and generous people.

I wonder if he ever read a history textbook. If he did, even if he wasn't really paying too much close attention, he'd realize that Europeans have changed demographics of plenty of places in the past. So I really don't see why he has any right to complain about something that effectively brought this country and Mexico and the others into being.

I think Savage makes an interesting point with a visionary perspective....not that hard to see IMO.
Once again he is not talking about immigrants...but people who are committing crimes by entering America illegally.
2. Cut off all benefits that illegal aliens can currently take advantage of, they are not citizens, and are not entitled to the same things US citizens are.. No education for them, no health services or treatment in hospitals, no drivers licenses, nothing. They will begin to deport themselves.
3. Seal the border at all costs, because things much worse than a poor mexican family looking for work are liable to come into this country...example: terrorists, weapons, drugs, diseases.
4. Offer existing illegals a chance to get in the BACK of the LEGAL immigration line, and then pay a fine (substantial), in order to gain citizenship.
5. Create a better guest-worker program managed by ICE, which tracks all workers, and when they must return home.
6. Limit student visas. Obviously, since this seems to be a jihadi favorite.
The problem is really not that hard to deal with. After implementation, if illegal aliens who are here fail to comply, they will be subject to arrest and detainment until they comply or are deported. All police, state and local, will be trained in immigration enforcement. Very straightforward.
Most importantly, this is not a racial issue, it is a status issue, legal citizen or illegal alien.

I think you entirely missed the point that I provided my thoughts on stopping illegal immigration, and even stated my desire for the current group of illegals be given the freedom to decide for themselves what they want to do. Pay a fine for the crime they have committed, and in time become a legal citizen, or freely go back home with no further punishment. That is fair, and actively promotes legal immigration, which benefits this nation.

I regret that in my first post, I did not lay out a point that stated I am all for severe punishment, imprisonment, and/or fines for those who employ illegal immigrants (or anyone) below minimum wage. After some kind of immigration legislation is passed, it is imperative that our government and police forces crack down on those employers who abuse workers through low wages and illegal hiring practices. Yes, point taken. By cutting off benefits for illegal aliens, like I stated earlier, we will free up millions, if not billions of dollars that can then be used to expand our immigration department...providing them with the means necessary to process legal immigrants more quickly and efficiently. I understand fully the burning desire individuals have to come here. This is the crux of the argument...shouldn't we encourage people who have that desire to come here legally by expanding immigration services and reducing wait time; rather than allowing the status quo of unchecked illegal immigration to continue, since we both agree that illegal status puts them at a much higher risk to be exploited by crooked employers?

I'm not talking about cutting off services to immigrants, because immigrants are legal American citizens, who pay taxes and are entitled to those services. I am talking about illegal aliens, who, no matter how much you support their plight, have broken the law and are not entitled to these services, especially when budget deficits are running rampant throughout our country.

Immigrants who are here illegally, don't need to be deported as a general rule. They need to fulfill a strict series of requirements to become citizens. immigrants who are willing work hard and pay taxes deserve to have a chance to become legal citizens.

Benefits currently handed to illegals are a big part of why they see a better life here. Take that away, and it certainly will deter some from coming in illegally, and if it does not cause the ones here to leave, it will encourage them to go through the proper immigration process to become a legal citizen, so they can regain proper access to those services.

This is why ICE needs to carefully manage an improved worker visa program (the idea that you labeled indentured servitude earlier). When the worker visa expires, ICE should be in contact with the individual or family to offer them the necessary path to citizenship if they have done their work and paid their taxes.
