Citing no evidence, Matthews dubbed Palin "a conservative version" of "Norma Rae"
During the September 7 edition of his NBC-syndicated television show, Chris Matthews played a clip from Gov. Sarah Palin's September 3 acceptance speech as the vice-presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention and asserted that Palin is "a conservative version you think perhaps of some movie heroes like Norma Rae, the factory worker fed up with minimum wage, who did whatever it took, even jail time, to get the union organized." Matthews then played a clip from the 1979 film, Norma Rae (20th Century Fox). Matthews also said of Palin: "[B]eing mayor of little Wasilla got her ready for some big fights, a strong female up against the odds fighting for justice. It's a familiar theme." Matthews did not provide any evidence of Palin being "up against the odds fighting for justice."
From the September 7 edition of NBC-syndicated The Chris Matthews Show:
MATTHEWS: Before we break, Republicans think they've found a pit bull in Sarah Palin, but before she became the governor battling big oil, she was Sarah the neighbor, the friend, the mom. In fact, her first foray into political action was the PTA.
PALIN [video clip]: This is America, and every woman can walk through every door of opportunity. I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom and signed up for the PTA, because I wanted to make my kids' public education even better.
MATTHEWS: She calls herself average but being mayor of little Wasilla got her ready for some big fights, a strong female up against the odds fighting for justice. It's a familiar theme. She's a conservative version you think perhaps of some movie heroes like Norma Rae, the factory worker fed up with minimum wage, who did whatever it took, even jail time, to get the union organized.
MATTHEWS: I love that stuff. And when we come back, Palin will fight to the end, but how will that play against [Sen.] Joe Biden?

Are the repubs paying you trolls for accuracy, or just quantity?
Norma Rae was about a pro-labor, anti-management union activist. She wasn't the boss. She didn't run anything, and that was the whole point.
The character has absolutely nothing in common with Palin, except that chromosome she shares with Hillary Clinton.
Norma Rae? More like Harper Valley PTA!
But I think Matthews was repeating something he saw elsewhere. One of the networks did a piece on how Americans love their feisty small town female heroines. Norma Rae was one character among many that were cited.
MMFA has lost its mind on this one.
And POV has never had a mind to lose....
Or, as Dan Quayle famously said,
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."
On the most basic level, Palin is and would be alligned with the OWNERS who were doing everything they could to KEEP unions from organizing. Casting Palin to type would have her as a bat-swinging Union-Buster before she would ever be considered for the role as the heroic advocate for the workers.
To be fair, this is Matthews AGAIN having to say something without thinking, and does not reflect directly on the GOP ticket. THEY did not make this claim for Palin. There's plenty which DOES reflect directly on the GOP ticket, such as Palin cannot be "ready on day one" for the job of the Presidency if she is not ready to answer press questions.
She is obviously NOT ready, and she WILL NOT be ready, even after being coached and schooled by the SAME GUYS who got us into the eight-year mess of the Bush Presidency. Like Bush, she obviously has no intellectual curiosity about how the world works, and can only hope to make it through a debate with Biden by learning names and places by rote, having no UNDERSTANDING about what she's parroting.
Reminds me of when George W. Bush decided to run for president that his father brought in Prince Bandar to educate W on world events because W knew so little...and we all know how good that presidency turned out.
Regardless how the Republicans spin it, Sarah Palin was selected to salvage John McCain's campaign by energizing the religious right. IMO it has Karl Rove's finger prints all over it. It makes sense that they would go to the same well that brought them the presidency in 2004.
On the most basic level, Palin is and would be alligned with the OWNERS who were doing everything they could to KEEP unions from organizing.
Exactly. Caribou Barbie is more like a member of the Walton Family (the Wal-Mart heirs - not the old TV show) than Norma Rae.
The polls are showing McCain is up.
And rightfully so. Palin is the only person in the country that has the RIGHT ideas. Ideas based on logic, on economic argument based on common sense.
It disgusts me and should disgust you how Obama and AxelRod tried to hypnotize America like the novel 1984, especially the youth - your kids beig hypnotized by this cartoon character. However Palin comes right out of the pages of Anthem ( Ayn Rand ) to smash a hammer right through the Styrofoam Facade.
Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, would does though sayeth ?
"I sayeth... We are change, change, change, change changing for change" Oh yeah.. pass around the Kool Aid baby and take a big swig.
The Obama brand is dieing and Palin is in Vogue !
America's Sweetheart.
"Palin is the only person in the country that has the RIGHT ideas. "
Then why isn't she the candidate for PRESIDENT? You're painting her (read white washing) as being BETTER than McCain.

Here's an article from the WSJ:
The only catch was that the city began building roads and installing utilities for the project before it had unchallenged title to the land. The misstep led to years of litigation and at least $1.3 million in extra costs for a small municipality with a small budget. What was to be Ms. Palin's legacy has turned into a financial mess that continues to plague Wasilla.
link
Further, I will note, that like Bush, Palin is a liar. She stated that she told congress no to the bridge to nowhere. In fact Palin wasn't even governor at the time! She actually ran on a platform that supported the bridge to nowhere. She only opposed it when it became unpopular--but she kept the money. She claims she is agains earmarks, but has asked for more earmarks than any other governor:
Under Palin's leadership, Alaska this year asked for almost $300 per person in requests for pet projects from one of McCain's top adversaries: indicted Sen. Ted Stevens. That's more than any other state received, per person, from Congress for the current budget year.
link
She also said she would coperate with an investigation into her allegedly abusing her power. Now she refuses do testify. So there is another lie, and it seems she is also corrupt. If not, why doesn't she let the investigation go forward, rather than trying to obstruct it?
Last, Palin spoke before a group wanting Alaska to seceed from the nation. She actively courted the support for this group. I thought the right wing would think that is unpatriotic, or is there a double standard?
Skettle wrote:
>>Hey I didn't say she was perfect. She has some days better than others you know. But I always will love her smile and her genuine character.
Wow! What a weak, non defense. By your own standards, she is not better than others. She is the worst in accepting earmarks! As for her genuine character, I pointed out that she is a liar. She made the bridge to nowhere part of her acceptance speech, and continues to use it. But she was for it and took the money. And, she is now involved in an investigation as to whether she abused her power. She said she would cooperate, but now she want.
As someone said below, love is blind. And that characterizes your love. Apparently, you love her because she is pretty. But being so doesn't mean she has good policies and is not an outright hypocrite.
Oh how wrong of me to read history ! How wrong of me to get an education ! I should just sit around listening to the Messiah and his holiness's empty words. Gotta run and get some zzzz's. Will be back tomorrow I hope... Hopefully Palin visits me in my dreams... oh yeah .. you know what I'm talking about !
What’s the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?
One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let’s be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.
The other kills her own food.
One is a serious, thoughtful person with a Christian compassion for the plight of others.
The other kills her own food.
One has a grasp of the intricacies of foreign policy.
The other kills her own food.
One has the good judgment to have opposed the Iraq war from the start.
The other kills her own food.
One presents the opportunity to divorce government from the insanity and corruption of the Bush/Cheney administration.
The other kills her own food.
What'sthe difference between a pit bull and a community organizer.
The pit bull has teeth. ;-)
The pit bull has teeth.
Aside from being unpredictable and bred for viciousness... But if pit bulls are good enough for Michael Vick then I guess they're good enough for the official Republican mascot. ;>)
The other kills her own food.
And her party's chances for the White House.
Certainly she is intelligent as well,or unless you think medium intelligence is needed to beat an incumbent and then defeat a popular ex democrat governor. And then have around 80 percent approval rating.
Certainly she is intelligent as well,or unless you think medium intelligence is needed to beat an incumbent and then defeat a popular ex democrat governor.
I don't think you need to exhibit that much intelligence if you're a republican in Alaska. Alaska has been treading bloodshot red in recent years so it would make sense that a republican would win.
And then have around 80 percent approval rating.
Her approval rating dropped to around 60 percent when troopergate hit. And most Alakans think she's lying about her involvement.
That is an interesting position you've taken there "they can't prove anything".
I notice that you aren't saying "there was nothing improper" just that it can't be proven.
Unfortunately, you may be right, or at least close enough. I suspect that her lawyer will be able to delay it until after the election if for no other reason than that she will be too busy campaigning to defend herself.
The right(wing) thing to do is to delay this as long as possible. The correct thing to do is to cooperate with the investigation.
So far, she seems to be sticking with the right(wing) methods.
Skettle wrote:

Good grief! I have no idea if she is intelligent or not. You didn't address any of my arguments. Palin is a liar and she is corrupt. She is not for small government as she is running around claiming. Do you care to address this, or can't you?
Skettle wrote:

Wow! The mind reels. So you think that Palin is Ayn Rand because she doesn't like *Catcher in the Rye?" And you are okay that Palin tried to have this book banned?
Beyond that, Ayn Rand was against big government. Palin is for it, as my links show. Do you care to address the fact that Palin is against what you believe in, or are you just going to display cult loyalty to someone who looks and sounds good? Do you care that she is corrupt and lying?
That is a nonsensical statement "She is for Big Govt". What do you mean by that ?
Skettle wrote:

I mean that she sought more earmarks than any other governor. As mayor, she built a hockey rink that left the town in debt. I've linked to this already.
Yes Shame on her for building a hockey rink ! Big Govt indeed. She should have built an uberleft school and you would be all okay with.
One hockey rink and this is big govt ! Debt is a natural part of business when trying to revitalize the town.
Seriously the best thing for you to do if you want to end all this hate that you have is to go take a political science degree. It will do you a tonne of good.

Someone posted facts and links to back them up, and this is the best you can come up with to argue their points? "But I will always love her smile and genuine character" ?
Palin is like a "tribble" to the right wing. Get near her and they are taken in by her fluff and purr......but the left sees her for what she really is, a dust bunny swept up in a right wing political mess.
Tribbles...from Star Trek:
Cyrano Jones, brings some little furry animals called tribbles onto the station to sell; he gives one to Uhura as a marketing ploy. She brings it on board the Enterprise, where it and its offspring are treated as adorable pets. The animals purr a relaxing trill that the crew (even the stoic Mr. Spock) find soothing. Klingons, however, find tribbles very annoying, and the feeling is mutual: tribbles emit an ear-piercing shriek of aggression whenever they are around Klingons.
The "trouble" with the tribbles is that they reproduce far too quickly; in the words of Dr. McCoy "they are born pregnant" and threaten to consume all the onboard supplies. The problem is aggravated when it is discovered that the creatures are physically entering essential ship systems, interfering with their functions and consuming any edible contents present.Meant to put this in bold too.....
" he gives one to Uhura as a marketing ploy. "
See how "Tribble" makes sense! ;-)
The polls are showing McCain is up. - Skettle
Yeah, their post-convention bounce brought them into a statistical tie. When things go as they usually do, the trends that existed before the convention will resume and Obama's lead will resume and expand.
Palin is the only person in the country that has the RIGHT ideas. Ideas based on logic, on economic argument based on common sense. - Skettle
The only person? Is that your way of acknowledging that she's badly out of touch with mainstream America, a fact that is becoming more apparent every day?
Just what are her economic ideas? So far everything she's said, especially at the convention, was completely devoid of substance.
It disgusts me and should disgust you how Obama and AxelRod tried to hypnotize America - Skettle
Were you able to type that claptrap without giggling out loud? Surely you didn't expect anyone to take it seriously.
However Palin comes right out of the pages of Anthem ( Ayn Rand ) to smash a hammer right through the Styrofoam Facade. - Skettle
I haven't read Anthem. The Fountainhead was not too bad, even if the protagonist's foes were ridiculous characters with no real counterparts in real life. However, Atlas Shrugged completely turned me off on Rand. She tried to create a worldwide enemy that she saw in social cultures that has never existed. It would have been laughable if it hadn't contained so many long, drawn-out moralizing speeches by her ultra-noble heroes. That just made it dull
Oh yeah.. pass around the Kool Aid baby and take a big swig. The Obama brand is dieing and Palin is in Vogue ! America's Sweetheart. - Skettle
The irony is wonderful. It's too bad it's beyond you to see it.
If you get a chance Anthem is very short read
And if you don't get a chance, it's still a short read, which is why the wingnuts like it. It doesn't strain their four-second attention span.
No matter how short it is, it is nothing like a good read.
>>And rightfully so. Palin is the only person in the country that has the RIGHT ideas. Ideas based on logic, on economic argument based on common sense.
Which do you like best? Her highly effective methods of preventing teen pregnancy or her plan to have Alaska seceed from the union?
Well, you didn't ask me, but I just have to interject.
How could you ignore her economic policy that left a town of 6000 people $22 million in debt after 6 years?
That's change you can believe in!
http://www.laprogressive.com/2008/09/05/alaskans-speak-in-a-frightened-whisper-palin-is-%E2%80%9Cracist-sexist-vindictive-and-mean%E2%80%9D/
..."According to Kilkenny and others in Wasilla as well as Juneau, Palin reduced progressive property taxes for businesses while mayor and increased a regressive sales tax which even hits necessities such as food. The tax cuts she promoted in her St. Paul speech actually benefited large corporate property owners far more than they benefited residents. Indeed, Kilkenny insists that many Wasilla home owners actually saw their tax bill skyrocket to make up for the shortfall. Two other Wasillian’s with whom I spoke said property taxes on their modest, three bedroom homes rose during the Palin regime.
To an outsider, it would seem hard to do, but an oil-rich town with zero debt on the day she was inaugurated mayor was left saddled with $22 million of debt by the time she moved away to become governor – especially since nothing was spent on things such as improving the city’s infrastructure or building a much-needed sewage treatment plant. So what did Mayor Palin spend the taxpayer’s money on, if not fixing streets and scrubbing sewage?
For starters, she remodelled her office. Several times over, as a matter of fact.
Then Palin spent $1 million on an unnecessary, new park that no one other than the contractors and Palin seemed to want. Next, Sarah doled out more than $15 million of taxpayer money for a sports complex that she shoved through even though the city did not own clear title to the land; now, seven years later, the matter is still in litigation and lawyer fees are said to be close to at least half of the original estimated price of the facility..."

Great. So now she can go on interview shows and tell us about them.

What an appallingly ignorant comparison to Palin.

Ugh! More talking points from a cult follower. Palin is lying to you, as I have pointed out. You apparently don't care about that. You only want to show blind loyalty to someone who looks and sounds good.
She did not lie and you know it. She said she is against earmarks. Proof that is a false statement ?
You have to look at time lines. She could have been for them 1 day and against them another.
She did not say "I have always been against every single earmark that has been in front of Alaska every day of my life".
Then she would be a lier.
Then what the hell does "against earmarks" even mean then? You know what, from your posts I can tell you can't make a cogent argument, so don't even bother.
All you need to know is, Sarah Palin loves her some earmarks.
Oh, and Ayn Rand's philosophies are incompatible with a liberal democracy.
Skettle wrote:

Good grief! I have posted numerous links to show exactly that she did lie. She stated that she told congress no thanks to the bridge. But she was not in any position to tell congress that at all! That is lie one. She states that she is against earmarks, but as I showed in my links, she has requested more earmarks per capita than any other governor! That is lie 2. Then she stated she would cooperate with the trooper gate investigation; she now says she won't. That is lie 3.
Then she would be a lier (sic).
Something you never "tier" of saying, apparently. What are you, twelve?
That's hilarious coming from a Barack Obama supporter.

Oh really? When someone points out that Barrack is against what I stand for, my own posts, do I say that I like him anyway because he has a nice smile and a genuine personality?
What? He needs evidence to liken her to a folk hero?
I think that's weak. A statement like that is meant for the viewer to draw their own conclusion based on their own personal understanding of:
1. Norma Rae
2. Gov Sarah Palin's recent speeches.
it's a *simple* analogy and need not be speeled out in pain staking detail, or any detail really.
MMFA, everything's not a slight on the democrats, sheesh. Get a story.
PS. It's like saying "San Francisco is the land of Fruits and Nuts " .. would anyone complain if that statement was not backed up with hard evidence? .. lol
It'd be great if you had a clue.
Truth is the folks of Alaska are much better off since she's taken office, and she has an 80% approval rating. They love her there.
Max wrote:

Well, I understand her approval rating has dropped to 60% because of the troopergate scandal, the investigation of which she is now trying to squash. What is she trying to hide? She said she would cooperate before she became VP. And like I keep pointing out, Palin is lying right through her teeth. She is running around the country saying she is against earmarks, when the exact opposite is true.
Hoooray for Alaska!!!!
Meanwhile we have repubs accross the nation foaming at the mouth for their new hero. Odds are they never heard of her until Mccain scooped her up.
What really is so heroic about her, so "norma Rae"? Her obscurity, her humble background, her "folks like us" appeal? Her loyalty to conception? I mean what a pathetic joke! Mccain picks her from obscurity and now its like the calvalry is coming at the nick of time to reform washington from 8+ years of extreme republican governance... Oh and she lives near Russia!
Yes isn't it so exciting, so fairy tale that we have a well demographically target nobody possibly as a VP. Wasn't there anyone else in the republican leadership qualified? What does this say about the republicans: That a pretty smile and a fetus fixated creationist is just what this country needs right now. Oh and she has a modest background. Increadible! What a rare thing that is!
Couldn't have been a bigger nothing than Barack. At least Gov Palin has done something; many things in fact. Barack is an empty suit with lofty ideals and no substance.
Gov Palin > Barack
What does this say about the republicans:
That we picked the right person for the job.
Max wrote:

Yes, she left a town in debt. That is something. And as far as substance, I don't remember any substance in her speech. Being sarcastic and making easy jokes does not count as substance.
Right person, wrong job.
And, you have such a great history of picking the right person for the job. In 2000, you recognized that McCain's abilities fell just short of those of George Bush. Nicely done. I certainly expect that he'll live up to just short of the standards set by Dubya.
And there's Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, Gonzales, Brown... The list showing the republican's judgment of right men for the job goes on and on and on...
You don't understand accounting.
If I by a car today for 100 and sell it for 50 next year. I lose 50. But if I keep it forever and it goes to 0 in value I lose 100. So by selling it I save the state 50. Think about it.
And if you bought a car for $100, then sold it for $50, and then claimed that you made a profit on the deal, you'd be a liar.
Think about it.
Hey, for a short time only, I got a car available for $100, which I will buy back immediately for $50. Rare opportunity for a sharp businessman to make a quick $50! Supplies are limited, so act fast!
Don't think about it too long, or it might be gone...
Of course she did. She shared her life story with a writer that wrote the speech. She shared her accomplishments as well as those things that are most important to her.
It was a harmonic convergence of story, speech writing and delivery; in a word, 'perfect'.

The woman is a four-star phony. It is a new height of audacity and hypocrisy that Karl would prop her up in front of 37 million Americans to tell obvious lies about earmarks and the Bridge to Nowhere. These lies have been quickly uncovered by reporters who bothered to check. The big question is: will the Corporate Media call her on it?
It IS all about judgement.
And I just can't get over the fact that the Republicans judged that McCain wasn't as able to lead the country as George Bush.

First, Palin (and McCain, and Rudy "noun, verb and 9/11" Giuliani) mock Obama for being a community organizer. So, in the words of Jon Stewart, "For those who are out there trying to make a difference in your community, F*** YOU!"
They criticize the "Chicago Political Machine", as if it's different from any other place in America that practices politics, and cites no evidence of it being evil.
But I guess if you want to criticize someone for their geographical origin of political practice, then LET'S DO THIS!
(everything below this was written by a fellow Alaskan. I can't do those fancy bold or Italicized thingys)
Let’s compare Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. Ask yourself how the responsibilities each shouldered compared. And then ask yourself who has the REAL experience needed to be President.
Sarah Palin:
4 years on the city council of Wasila, Alaska (1992-1996)
4 years as mayor of Wasilla (1996-2002)
2 years as Governor of Alaska, 2006-2008
Barack Obama:
7 years in the Illinois Senate (1997-2004)
4 years as US Senator from Illinois (2004-2008)
Total time spent holding elected office:
Sarah Palin: 10
Barack Obama: 11
Now, let’s compare Illinois and Alaska (along with beautiful Wasilla) to get a feel of the responsibilities Sarah Palin and Barack Obama faced comparing the two states and how they stand nationally:
Population:
Illinois: No. 5 with 12.85 million people
Alaska: No. 47 with 683,000 people
Wasilla, Alaska: 6715 people
Illinois has 18.8 times the population of Alaska.
Illinois has 1914 times the population of Wasilla.
State budgets:
Illinois: $65 billion
Alaska: $5.5 billion
Wasilla, Alaska: $12 million ($0.012 billion)
Illinois has 11.8 times the budget of Alaska.
Illinois has 5417 times the budget of Wasila.
Gross Domestic Product:
Illinois: $560 billion, no. 5 nationally
Alaska: $39 billion, no. 45 nationally
Illinois contributes 14.4 times as much to the national gross domestic product as does Alaska.
Now, let’s look at how Illinois and Alaska govern themselves. Which state is more addicted to federal aid, which state has more bureaucrats, and which state sucks up more revenue from its citizens:
Federal aid per capita:
Alaska: No. 1 at $3699 per person. WE’RE NUMBER ONE! WE GET THE MOST FEDERAL WELFARE!
Illinois: No. 40 at $1176 per person
Alaska receives 3.15 times as much federal aid per person as Illinois! And this does not include the Bridge to Nowhere. It’s gone nowhere so far, but who knows what might happen if we had a President from Alaska who supported the Bridge to Nowhere before it became politically unfashionable.
State governmental full-time employment per 10,000 residents:
Illlinois: 104, no. 50--DEAD LAST nationally in the relative size of its government!
Alaska: 370, no. 2! Second in the nation in the size of its government! Oh, no, we’re not number 1! But we’re close!
Alaska has 3.56 times as many government employees per capita as Illinois!
State government revenue per capita:
Alaska: $13,446 per person. Number 1 nationally. WE’RE NUMBER 1! WE HAVE THE BIGGEST STATE GOVERNMENT!
Illinois: $4819, no. 37 nationally.
Alaska extracts 2.78 times as much revenue from its citizens as Illinois!
Traffic fatalities per 100 million miles driven:
Alaska: 2.02, no. 10 nationally
Illinois: 1.24, no. 37 nationally
Alaskans kill themselves in traffic accidents almost twice as often as residents of Illinois. Maybe Alaskans are worrying more than Illinois about their governor taxing them, increasing the number of state bureaucrats, and milking the American taxpayer for federal welfare. And maybe they’re worrying about a President Palin!
Something to think about!
(end of Alaskan's words)
Personally, despite the debt we are in, I've always believed that the federal government should spend money on things that are necessary to the public and/or American citizens. Living in Virginia Beach, I often go to our neighboring ity of Norfolk, another part of the Hampton Roads area, and we actually wouldn't have been able to build a light rail system there without federal funds. If something necessary needs to be built and if the state or local government can't pay for it, I wouldn't mind federal money being used for it, such as infrastructure, or universal health care and college.
However, I do mind that Palin is basically lying about being a so-called "fiscal conservative" and an "enemy to earmarks" and also lying about being opposed to the Bridge to Nowhere from the beginning. She KEPT THE MONEY! If I was Biden or Obama in a debate, I'd say, "Can we have that money back, since you so hate earmarks?" She and other conservatives mock us, saying that we are always too dependent on "welfare" and love to "tax and spend" and yet she, a "conservative" has requested so much in federal, well, I guess you can call it "welfare" if that's how she wants to put it. Yep, she's a tax and spender, just like the W. Bush administration and it's Republican controlled Congress.
truth-telling Obama>lying Palin. Get used to it.
tman I am afraid you lost me right at the beginning. If Palin were the mayor from 1996 to 2002 that would not be four years, it would be six. There goes your argument right there.
Obama started his presidential campaign in 2006 after less than two years in office as Senator. He's been a full time campaigner and part time Senator ever since.
tman I am afraid you lost me right at the beginning.
We knew you wouldn't be able to understand it.
Gotta go..... just threw up on my keyboard.
You can dismiss me as an alarmist, but I think we're on the edge of the abyss with this election. If Caribou Barbie gets in there, she'll appoint Neanderthals to the Supreme court and dance on the NeoCons' strings. She'll be twice as bad as President Numbnuts, and will tie the spineless Democrats in knots.
Nerzog,
I do believe if McCain/Palin are elected, it will be McCain who will nominate the justices for any openings. Palin will undoubtedly will be consulted, but do you think McCain will cede to her the pick?
I would think McCain going out of the box to pick Palin would alleviate some of your fears about whom he might pick. Obviously he doesn't stick to the script. :-)
Who would you like as a justice? Hillary?
Out of the box?
Palin is straight out of the mold of modern conservatism complete with being a pathological liar.
Unless by "out of the box" you mean that she is the exact opposite of everything he claims to be.
