CBS asserted "Democrats and many in the media" question "Palin's readiness to be president," but not that many questions came from conservatives
SUMMARY: A CBSNews.com article asserted that "[Gov. Sarah] Palin's readiness to be president ... has been widely questioned by Democrats and many in the media." The article failed to note, however, that many of those "questioning" Palin's readiness are conservatives. In fact, CBS Early Show correspondent Jeff Glor noted, "even some conservatives are concerned, including syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, who said Palin is 'clearly out of our league' and called for the Alaska governor to leave the race."
A September 29 CBSNews.com article asserted that "[Gov. Sarah] Palin's readiness to be president in the event she and [Sen. John] McCain are elected and McCain becomes incapacitated has been widely questioned by Democrats and many in the media," but did not note that many of those who were "question[ing]" Palin's readiness are conservatives. In fact, as CBS Early Show national correspondent Jeff Glor noted during the September 29 edition of The Early Show, "even some conservatives are concerned, including syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, who said Palin is 'clearly out of our league' and called for the Alaska governor to leave the race." Earlier, Early Show co-host Maggie Rodriguez stated: "[T]he question a lot of Americans are asking this morning, including some prominent Republicans, is whether Sarah Palin is ready."
On September 26, Parker wrote: "As we've seen and heard more from John McCain's running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn't know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion." Parker later wrote: "Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League." She concluded: "Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first. Do it for your country."
Numerous other conservative media figures also have expressed concerns about Palin's readiness to be vice president. For instance:
-
As the website Raw Story and others have noted, on the September 28 edition of the NBC syndicated Chris Matthews Show, New York Times columnist David Brooks stated:
I admire Sarah Palin for many things. Not many of us put our careers on the line to challenge something. And she put her career on the line to challenge the corrupt Republican Alaska establishment. So, I give her a lot of credit for that. But is she ready to be vice president? Based on what we've seen with the Katie Couric interview, it's embarrassing. It's painful to watch those things. You want to turn them off. And, so, I just think that's the fundamental fact. She is a very talented politician who was brought to the national limelight before she was ready, and it's just a problem.
-
In a September 26 column, National Review editor Rich Lowry wrote: "Does Palin know enough to be a national candidate right now? No, but she can be mostly walled off from the press." Earlier in the column, he said McCain was "making moves that mark him as different, but can be seen as risky or gimmicky, whether choosing Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential nominee or canceling the first day of the Republican Convention during Hurricane Gustav."
-
Additionally, in a September 13 post on National Review Online's The Corner blog, Lowry said of Palin's interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson: "[T]his was a merely adequate performance. The foreign-policy session was a white-knuckle affair. She barely got through it and showed no knowledge more than an inch deep." Lowry later added: "The fact still remains that she very likely didn't know any of the possible definitions of the Bush doctrine. I can't imagine if Obama had picked Gov. Tim Kaine [VA] and he had had a similar moment, conservatives would have rushed to say that the Bush doctrine is just too amorphous and complicated for him to know anything about it. [italics in original]" Lowry added: "Palin seemed weak on economic and budgetary policy too, talking in the vaguest generalities. She was much better, and positively good, on the social issues -- which are dear to her and she's thought about -- and anything having to do with her personally or with her record in Alaska." And he concluded: "I understand how we all want to be protective of her -- I feel the same impulse -- but let's not be patronizing. I believe the truly pro-Palin position is to think she can, should, and will do better than this."
-
In a September 13 blog posting, titled "Sarah The Unready," Ross Douthat, conservative blogger and senior editor at The Atlantic stated of Palin's interview with Gibson: "[S]he seemed about an inch deep on every issue outside her comfort zone." He further stated that Gibson's questions "were all questions that a vice-presidential nominee needs to be able to answer." Douthat added: "There's no way to look at her performance as anything save supporting evidence for the non-hysterical critique of her candidacy -- that it's just too much, too soon -- and a splash of cold water for those of us with high hopes for her future on the national stage."
-
In his September 5 Washington Post column, Charles Krauthammer stated that "the choice of Palin remains deeply problematic." Krauthammer later stated: The vice president's only constitutional duty of any significance is to become president at a moment's notice. Palin is not ready. Nor is Obama. But with Palin, the case against Obama evaporates."
-
George Will stated in a September 3 Washington Post column that "the man who would be the oldest to embark on a first presidential term has chosen as his possible successor a person of negligible experience." He later wrote: "Clearly, experience is not sufficient to prove a person 'qualified' for the presidency."
-
In an August 29 column in the National Post, columnist and former speechwriter for President Bush David Frum asserted that "she [Palin] has zero foreign policy experience, and no record on national security issues." He went on to say that "Mr. McCain's supporters argue that he is more serious about national security than Barack Obama. But the selection of Sarah Palin invites the question: How serious can he be if he would place such a neophyte second in line to the presidency?" He further claims that "if anything were to happen to a President McCain, the destiny of the free world would be placed in the hands of a woman who until the day before Friday was a small-town mayor." Frum concluded his column by stating: "Ms. Palin is a bold pick, and probably a shrewd one. It's not nearly so clear that she is a responsible pick, or a wise one."
From the September 29 CBSNews.com article:
A month ago, Sally and Chuck Heath's third child, Sarah Palin, a self-proclaimed hockey mom and wildly popular governor of Alaska, was thrust into the national spotlight when John McCain picked her to be his running mate.
In the time since, Palin's readiness to be president in the event she and McCain are elected and McCain becomes incapacitated has been widely questioned by Democrats and many in the media.
But, in an exclusive interview at their home in Wasilla, Alaska, the Heaths told Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith their daughter is, indeed, ready to occupy the Oval Office at a moment's notice.
From the September 29 edition of CBS' The Early Show:
HARRY SMITH [co-host]: You bet. Now here's Maggie.
RODRIGUEZ: Thank you, Harry. You can bet the vice-presidential candidates will be asked about the bailout during their debate on Thursday. But the question a lot of Americans are asking this morning, including some prominent Republicans, is whether Sarah Palin is ready. Early Show national correspondent Jeff Glor is in Columbus, Ohio. Jeff, good morning.
GLOR: Maggie, good morning to you. This is a state -- Ohio -- that could, once again, decide this election. It's one of the reasons why we're here. It's one of the reasons why John McCain and Sarah Palin will be here today as the campaign deals with these continued questions.
[begin video clip]
GLOR: Sarah Palin has mostly been kept away from reporters, but the interviews she has done are raising eyebrows.
PALIN: It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there.
GLOR: The most recent, with Katie Couric, provoked widespread criticism from liberals on the Web and a lampooning on Saturday Night Live:
TINA FEY: Katie, I'd like to use one of my lifelines.
AMY POEHLER: You don't have any lifelines.
FEY: Well, in that case, I'm just gonna have to get back to you.
GLOR: But even some conservatives are concerned, including syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, who said Palin is "clearly out of our league" and called for the Alaska governor to leave the race.
ALEX BURNS [Politico reporter]: I think there are a small number of people who will publicly say that they're worried about her abilities as a candidate. I think there's a larger number of people who privately express kind of muted criticism and concern.
GLOR: McCain himself was asked about the chatter on Sunday.
McCAIN: I'm so excited about the reaction that Sarah Palin has gotten across this country -- huge turnouts, enthusiasm, excitement. She knows how to communicate directly with people. They respond in a way that I've seldom seen.
[end video clip]
GLOR: Palin will be interviewed again today by Katie Couric -- which you can see on the Evening News -- and then Palin is off for a couple of days of debate preparation in Arizona before Thursday's much anticipated vice-presidential debate in St. Louis. Maggie.
RODRIGUEZ: CBS' Jeff Glor in Ohio. Thank you, Jeff.

A CBSNews.com article asserted that "[Gov. Sarah] Palin's readiness to be president ... has been widely questioned by Democrats
Wow, alert the press!
This is funny especially considering Gov. Sarah Palin has 3x the experience to lead this country than Obama.
Jesus Christ, dude. Really? The only experience Palin has is being on television, giving sports stats. How is it that Palin has three times the experience that Obama has? 22 months as Governor of Alaska? Really? Mayor of a small town (which she left millions of dollars in debt)? Really?
Jeff Christie and the like have done their jobs brainwashing you.
I think Max is just doing "schtick". Nobody really believes that, except for Sean Hannity, maybe.
Sarah Palin has 3x the experience to lead this country than Obama.
That's a joke. Barack Obama has swum with the sharks in Chicago, one of the largest cities in the world...and the worst thing you can say about that is that he went to Jeremiah Wright's church and was once once friendly with Tony Rezco. Sarah Palin was mayor of little town with a population as big as the attendance of a high school football game. She has been governor for 22 months of a state with a population of what, 700,000? Barack Obama has been a state senator and a U.S Senator on the big stage. Obama is a scholar, the editor of Harvard Law Review. Obama can deal with anyone on any topic at the highest national and international levels. Sarah Palin can see Russia from Alaska...
Sarah can see Russia from Alaska? Maybe so...but I can see across the creek from my house and once I saw a cloud that resembled Putin's nose. That's me, former middle American and I know some people called Joe who sometimes drink a sixpack and can shoot elk and butcher chickens. So if someone wants me for V.P., I'm available.
But are you adorable, Mary...? ;>)
When you looked at the cloud did you see a soul? If so, contact mickey c.
Hmm let's see. I'm adorable on the inside. I could be a beauty queen if the person looking at me was taking some pretty strong L.S.D.
I didn't see the soul of Putin. You can't see that through a nose in my experience. It was just a passing cloud, probably blowing through by way of Alaska...who nose?
You forgot to mention William Ayres and the fact that most of the time Obama has been a U.S Senator he's not been doing his job and instead been running for president. :P
You mean like John "I'm suspending my campaign" McCain?
You do know that McCain has missed a lot more votes than Obama right?
You forgot to mention William Ayres
Nice catch, Max! I also notice that Irony101 very conveniently forgot to mention that Obama is the anti-Christ, a secret Muslim, and is basing much of his platform on murdering happy viable babies.
Keep up the good work, maybe you can get these moonbats to focus on the real issues, instead of trivial policy and things that are actually true..
"Sarah Palin can see Russia from Alaska..."
and with your head positioned where it always seems to be, I bet you can see your appendix.
"Gov. Sarah Palin has 3x the experience to lead this country than Obama."
In what respect Max?
First of all, Palin has 8 years of Executive experience as Mayor and Governor. Obama has none.
Second, she has 2 years of Military experience being in charge of Alaska's National Guard. Obama has none, and before you dismiss 2 years of being in charge of the National Guard, read the following:
Third, she has a diverse background of experience as a professional journalist, city council woman, Mayor, Governor and Mother of 5.
Fourth, she has gotten a lot done and has an incredible record for only being a Governor for 2 years. She has vetoed 300 spending proposals and has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.
Fifth, she knows what she thinks and is very articulate, attractive, passionate, idealistic and courageous. She has shown enormous courage with her oldest son going off to serve in the military and her youngest son having downs syndrome.
Sixth, she is a very competent person with a compelling story.
Seventh, she should never be underestimated. She defeated the incumbent when she ran for Mayor and she defeated the incumbent Republican Governor in the primary before going on to defeat the Democrat in the general election.
btw: this is excerpted from Newt Gingrich's great case for Palin's experience
Oh yes, and we all know how credible Newt is...
Sheesh...you apologists just don't know where to stop.
Palin is worthless. You listed seven "credentials" above. Sorry, but having a son in the military doesn't make her qualified. Being a mother of five doesn't make her qualified. Being the mother of a child with Downs Syndrome doesn't make her qualified. Being a professional journalist doesn't make her qualified - especially since the type of journalism she practiced was sports journalism. She may have security clearances we don't know about. That doesn't make her qualified. Stating (and not proving) that she is a competent person with a compelling story doesn't make her qualified. On the contrary, she has shown herself on the national stage as being quite incompetent and ignorant. I don't find her story "compelling" in the least. Further, just because she is Governor of the State of Alaska, and therefore Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard, that doesn't give her military experience. Military experience is gained by being IN THE MILITARY. She has even less military experience than GWB - and we all know what a winner GWB turned out to be.
What it boils down to is this: In Alaska, population 700,000, she is a big fish in a small pond. Suddenly, she is thrust into national politics and she becomes a little fish in a gigantic ocean. Just because she has high approval ratings among the 700,000 residents (which is approximately .0023% of the population of the United States) in Alaska doesn't make her qualified. She is wholly unprepared to be President in the event of McCain's death or incapacitation. If she were to become President and we were attacked, I fear her response would be, "I don't know what we'll do - let me get back to you on that...".
Personally, that scares the bejeezus out of me.
Further, Palin doesn't "know what she thinks". She cannot even answer simple questions like "Where do you get your news information, what magazines/newspapers/journals do you read to get your information, can you name ONE Supreme Court decision with which you agree?"
She couldn't answer any of those questions - and most semi-intelligent Americans can answer at least one and probably both of those questions. She is NOT articulate and she's definitely ignorant. If she weren't, why is it that the McCain campaign keeps her tightly under wraps? See, even McCain doesn't have faith in her. Why should the American people?
"Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about." - Max Dharma
And being that I live in California and California's proximity to Mexico, I may have military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Do you not see how assinine your comment is? I don't want to know that she may have information on our nation's defense, I want to know that she indeed HAS that information and knows how to properly apply it to any given situation that may arise. And we don't know that she does have that information. We cannot elect her on what she might or might not know.
"As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's." - Max Dharma
In order for you to even make that statement, you have to have some kind of idea of what Biden knows. If I'm not mistaken, Biden has years more foreign policy experience than Palin. There's no way Palin could rival Biden, even if we could measure what each knows against the other.
I know I'm not going to change any wingnut's mind, but for G-d's sake, at least think about things instead of being a blind partisan hog looking for truffles.
Whoa, Max, is that your blog? Are you theeeee blogger stating
I consider myself to be a Reagan/Rush Conservative who is a female version of Sean Hannity.
Now don't fight over her, Boys!
Max,
First of all, Palin has 8 years of Executive experience as Mayor and Governor. Obama has none. She left her small town 20 million plus in debt and is under investigation for abuse of power
Please cite the publications that Ms. Pallin wrote for. She dodged the questions as to where she gets her news, maybe you can provide where she wrote it and some of her articles.
Fourth, she has gotten a lot done and has an incredible record for only being a Governor for 2 years. She has vetoed 300 spending proposals and has an 80% approval rating in Alaska.
The longer the campaign is going on, the lower her approval rating is getting. Where is Newt getting his facts?
Fifth, she knows what she thinks and is very articulate, attractive, passionate, idealistic and courageous. She has shown enormous courage with her oldest son going off to serve in the military and her youngest son having downs syndrome.
Watch the Couric interview if you wannt to see articulate. Who carers if she is attractive? How is she courageous? Is it courageous to have your husband copied on all state business emails? Biden's kid is going to the military as well. Great that she has a son with Down's Syndrome, but can you imagine how crazy Dobson would go if the Dem's VP had Down's and was running?
Sixth, she is a very competent person with a compelling story.
What makes her "competent?" Why is a compelling story important for leadership? If so, what makes her more compelling than the other 3?
Seventh, she should never be underestimated. She defeated the incumbent when she ran for Mayor and she defeated the incumbent Republican Governor in the primary before going on to defeat the Democrat in the general election.
So? Her timing was great! When was the last time any office in Alaska was held by a Dem?
Mayoral experience of a town of 9000 does not count as "executive" experience. Seriously. If Obama were former mayor of a small town, and was touting this as some sort of experience, you and your ilk would be laughing about it, as would any sane rational person. Being mayor of her town would be like being mayor of my home town. I know the mayor of my hometown, and calling him experienced as in the executive sense, would be laughable, same for Palin.
You do realize that the so called missile defense thing, doesn't work. If a ballistic missile flew over their heads, guess what they'd be able to do? Nothing... Since Obama has been running for President, he has been receiving daily briefings on the same level as THE president of the US, therefore exposing him to a lot more information, and classified material than Palin, or Biden. McCain receives the same briefings, and when Palin and Biden were nominated, they started receiving said same briefings.
By professional journalist, you mean sportscaster, and since she so disdains the media, I couldn't even count this. You talk about diverse, and then probably laugh at Obama's experience. Let's see... Father of 2. Community organizer. Top of his class in Harvard. First black editor of the HArvard Law Review. Constitutional law professor. Lived in Indonesia. Lived in other countries. Is of mixed race. Obama also has a compelling story. Absent father. Raised by his single mother, and grandparents in Hawaii, strived to earn his education, and pulled himself up by his own bootstraps.
Obama has a record of getting things done. I could recite his record as in Senate record, but you probably wouldn't believe me.
Obama is a scholar, state Senator, US Senator, Presidential candidate, constitutional law professor, editor of the Harvard law review, father of 2, and so on and so forth. On paper, he is about 90 times better than Palin.
Thank you MMFA, for reminding us all that there still principled conservatives out there who have the honest integrity to question Sarah Palin's qualifications.
Well done.
I heard Parker on the radio as I drove into work this morning. I was trying to listen in on my usual am wingnut Laura Ingraham, but apparently she's been replaced by a new wingnut named Mike Gallagher. He's a pretty good replacement, another complete Kool Aid drinker, based on what I heard today. He was interviewing parker, and just could not figure out what was wrong with her, her inability to see the greatness in Palin.
After Parker was off the line, Gallagher confided to the audience that there was "something going on here", which he suspected might be "a female thing".
No, Mike, that thing you just saw, that has you so baffled, is a conservative being honest. Scary, isn't it?
And now Parker says she is surprised at how hateful wingnuts can be towards someone being honest.
It's weird how many Republicans have gone off message re: Palin. I wonder why the MSM doesn't want people to know about it?
palin is apparently getting ready for her standup comedy career. she's now saying, if you can believe this, that she's being "censored" by the mainstream media. hello???? mcain was on meet the press three weeks ago and brokaw asked him when she was coming on. he just grinned and wouldn't give a straight answer. the today show has said they have repeatedly invited her to appear and she has refused. it's been the same story with other media outlets.
another fairy tale they are promoting is that she's being asked "gotcha" questions. like what do you think about supreme court decisions? or will you send troops into pakistan? uhh, i thought maybe those were the questions you should be asked when you're, uhhh, running for president? what's not a "gotcha" question? who does your hair?
"censored"???
I think she means the MSM is not allowing her to demonstrate her adorable personality and instead keep asking her all those silly questions that may reflect on her preparedness for the second highest office in the land.
And, regarding the Supreme Court question, isn't it the conservative Republican Party that is always talking about liberal judges and the importance of appointing the right Supreme Court justices? Certainly there must be some liberal Supreme Court decisions in the past twenty years about which they are complaining. And none come to Sarah Palin's mind? Does this woman read...?
She reads everything. It's just that all of the publications show up at her doorstep with blank titles, so she doesn't know what they are.
here's a link to her comment about how she's being censored. it's a jaw-dropping revising of history, given that the mccain campaign has fought to keep her away from the press. she's followed around by a pack of reporters begging to question her. of course, given her bungling performances, it was probably the best course. but eventually, even the lamest of the land of oz have to see the woman behind the curtain.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcb_election2008/20081002/wl_mcb_election2008/palinclaimsmediacensoringher
I can't even believe that the McCain-Palin campaign is pushing this censorship business. How can she be censored, when she has barely been exposed to the, you know, MEDIA?!?!? I love that they're claiming gotcha journalism when a voter asks her a question, and it gets pasted all over the place. That wasn't journalism, that was her answering a question when she thought nobody was listening. That guy who asked her a question was NOT a journalist.
And it's amazing the questions that the media who do have a chance to ask her questions, are asking her. As in, they're softball questions, and she messes THOSE up as well. Are you kidding me? Tell me some news source that you read or look at, and she can't give a straight answer? Amazing! Breathtakinly amazing!
I hope after tonight that people see her for the fraud and MORON that she is.
Kathryn Jean Lopez:"And, then, decide: "I just am not going to play Katie’s quiz-show game." I think the campaign has decided "Sarah Palin doesn’t do game shows. And we’ll ‘expose’ the media for every one of those questions."
I love it. As if the media is going to pay a price when they're "exposed" for asking a candidate questions about things you should know if you want to be involved in governance. Like they're going to cry that the media asked her questions she thought were too tough and that's just plain mean. Then people will like Palin because they sympathize with the poor woman.
It all seems so sexist, doesn't it?
Actually, they also asked Biden some of those same questions, and he seemed to be able to answer them.
Randy
Dave,
What do you make of McCain's u-turn over the last 8 years? I don't see him as a maverick at all. He brags about how he and Bush are so closely aligned. Do you think the same of Bush?
He might have been at one point in time, but not since about 2000. McCain ain't been a Maverick in a long long time.
His U turns are what I think are costing him now. Reaching across the aisle is fine, but I would hope and expect that you bring that person from that side of the aisle to your side with better ideas, ie Reagan Democrats. McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy....is he kidding? He is no more a Conservative than Hillary. And as to Bush, he is no more a Conservative than Kerry. So much for smaller Govt and reducing spending. Very disappointing to this Con. I've been lied to. I still have no idea what he wants to do with the border.
Conservative values are still there, but not with this batch. They are not Conservatives.
Three major opportunities missed by Biden (there may be others, of course):
1. Palin wants to talk about flip-flopping? McCain is the king of flip-flopping, Biden should have nailed that one.
2. Palin is tolerant of gays? Point out that she opposed same-sex benefits, for cripes' sakes. She came prepared to criticize Biden, he should have been in the same sort of mode. Palin loses that battle in a dramatic manner after getting hit on gay rights, book-banning, accepting gifts, rape kits, etc.
3. How stupid do you have to be to chastise Biden for talking about the mistakes of the Bush administration, and then turn around and talk about how you're a reformer and you're going to learn from mistakes in the past? Biden should have smacked her upside the head with that remarkable piece of idiocy.
Overall, Biden won. He let her base her entire night on "maverick" and then blew it up on her, and he killed her on McCain's health care reform and record of deregulation. Palin had two particularly awful moments, one with saying "I've been at this five weeks..." and the second when she was stumped and could only say "You're waving the white flag of surrender". She did seem to get flustered after some of Biden's stronger issues, which made me wonder even more why Biden didn't point out more of her personal flaws. Let the McCain camp whine about Biden being "mean" or whatever, that message would not fly and would only be turned back around as a sexist attitude.
Also, the polls are even less charitable for Palin than I am. Palin made great efforts to appeal to the average person. So many times with "ya" instead of "you", folksy phrasing, looking at the camera from the start. Yet, when it comes down to who is more in touch with the average American, Biden wins 50-44%. Biden wins on who would bring more change, 53-42%, even though he is clearly the "typical politician" by a huge margin.
And the expectations game didn't work out either. 84% say Palin did better than expected, but 64% say Biden did better than expected. 98% (!) had confidence in Biden's grasp of the issues. Most importantly, Palin gained 4% on her viability for office, but that was within the margin of error.
This is what I've heard on CNN so far, anyway, if I'm mistaken I apologize. In any event, the bottom line is "Biden > Palin".
Sorry Barry but Palin is no leader, she's an elected official from one of the states with the smallest population. True, she has done some good things as Governor, but are they her accomplishments, or is she continuing policies statred by her predecessors?
She and her grandfather decry the distribution of wealth but Alaska has it already. Doesn't every citizen get a few grand each year from oil revenues?
Palin showed last night that she is George W Bush in high heels. She ignores the rules and does what she pleases, rules and the constitution be damned.
In other words, it doesn't matter how ignorant or radical you are, as long as you're a Governor you are automatically more qualified to lead than a Senator. Right.
In terms of substance Obama is nothing more than a Marxist who can't stop saying "uh" and "umm" in order to cover up his true beliefs. If he let his mouth run as quickly as his big brain he'd be seen for what he really is.
You don't lend yourself any credibility with the "Marxist" crap either.
Meanwhile, Palin associated herself with secessionists, made rape victims pay for rape kits because they contained emergency contraception, opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, and belonged to a church where people spoke in tongues and believed homosexuality can be cured. Her interviews and the debate showed that she has no idea what the hell she's talking about on any given subject. If you really want to talk about substance and mainstream beliefs, I wish you all the luck in the world.
You'll need it.
