Cunningham invoked "[s]ix-six-six" and "the beast" in discussing "Barack Hussein Obama"
SUMMARY: Stating that 666,000 new voters have registered in Ohio, Bill Cunningham said on October 10: "Six, six, six. The mark of the beast. The great majority, of course, are registered by ACORN. ... Who conducted ACORN seminars to tell ACORN employees and others how to cheat the system? Barack Hussein Obama. I may declare him to be the beast. Six, six, six. It could be the end of all days." On the October 13 edition of Cunningham's show, a caller said of Obama, "He may be the Antichrist."
In recent days, Cincinnati-based talk radio host Bill Cunningham has repeatedly invoked the biblical prophecy of "the Beast" in reference to Sen. Barack Obama. On the October 10 broadcast of The Big Show with Bill Cunningham, Cunningham said, "[A]round Ohio, the number [of newly registered voters] is 666,000. Six-six-six. The mark of the beast. The great majority, of course, are registered by ACORN. [...] Who conducted ACORN seminars to tell ACORN employees and others how to cheat the system? Barack Hussein Obama. I may declare him to be the beast. Six, six, six. It could be the end of all days." Then, on the October 13 broadcast, Cunningham responded to a caller's assertion that Obama "may be the Antichrist" by asking, "Well, six -- you know how many -- how many new registered voters there are in the state of Ohio?" After the caller answered, "666,000," Cunningham stated: "Six-six-six." Later, Cunningham added: "Six-six-six. And then when people like you and I, Roger, say to [Sen. John] McCain, 'You know what, president' -- I'm sorry -- 'Senator McCain, we're scared,' he says, 'Don't be scared.' " As described in the Bible's Book of Revelation, 666 is the number of "the Beast," or the Antichrist, whose appearance portends the second coming of Christ and Armageddon in the Christian tradition.
According to an October 8 Associated Press report, "Roughly 666,000 new voters have registered in Ohio since the start of 2008," but on its website, ACORN reports that it registered 247,335 new voters -- not a "great majority," as Cunningham claimed.
As Media Matters for America has noted, conservative hosts like Brian Sussman at San Francisco radio station KSFO and Chris Baker of Minneapolis station KTLK have also made references to Obama as the Antichrist.
From the October 10 broadcast of Clear Channel's The Big Show with Bill Cunningham:
CUNNINGHAM: And around Ohio, the number [of newly registered voters] is 666,000. Six-six-six. The mark of the beast. The great majority, of course, are registered by ACORN. The mark of the beast. And who is the beast? Who gave ACORN $800,000 as part of this criminal conspiracy? Who was the lawyer for ACORN? Who conducted ACORN seminars to tell ACORN employees and others how to cheat the system? Barack Hussein Obama. I may declare him to be the beast. Six-six-six. It could be the end of all days.
From the October 13 broadcast of The Big Show with Bill Cunningham:
CALLER: I have gotten phone calls from people that asked -- I debate on the phone with them and argue with them. They have called me. A woman called me from Buffalo, Ohio, and she's going through the phone book picking out names, and she says, "Would you be interested in working a couple hours every night making phone calls?" And I said, "Who for?" And she goes, "Obama."
CUNNINGHAM: Oh, my.
CALLER: And she -- I end up debating with her, and she's acting like he's the next Camelot.
CUNNINGHAM: Well, according to Louis Farrakhan, his buddy, I have the clip in which Minister Louis Farrakhan has declared Obama is the messiah, that Obama is the son of God.
CALLER: And that's the other thing I wanted to say to you. He claims to be a Christian, and anybody who would let those schoolkids say he's gonna change the world and he's the alpha, the omega -- I'm scared.
CUNNINGHAM: I mean, can you imagine if Ronald Reagan had schoolchildren shouting the name of Reagan, that he had ministers declaring that Ronald Reagan is the messiah? How big of a story would that be?
CALLER: He may be the Antichrist.
CUNNINGHAM: Well, six -- you know how many -- how many new registered voters there are in the state of Ohio?
CALLER: 666,000.
CUNNINGHAM: Six-six-six.
CALLER: It's scary, Bill. I'm scared.
CUNNINGHAM: Six-six-six. And then, when people like you and I, Roger, say to McCain, "You know what, president" -- I'm sorry -- "Senator McCain, we're scared." He says, "Don't be scared. He'll do a good job as the president. He's fine, he's a good man."

The fear-mongering, racism and religious prejudice used by the GOP are the most pathetic I've seen in my lifetime. Col. Harlan Sanders
once again the left at its best...."you don't agree with us...well then you're a racist and fear mongerer and you hate people's religion"....give that one a rest it is old alreadyCPA5
Hee hee! If only fundies would disappear as fast as our 401K's.
Hee hee! If only fundies would disappear as fast as our 401K's.
It will be a laugh riot after the Rapture occurs to see how many fundies are left behind. Starting with James Dobson, PAt Robertson, , John Hagee, and Rod Parsley. They'll ALL have some 'splainin' to do......
The whole idea of god in politics plays as a role simply to obtain power. Political philosophers have wrote about this issue for centuries. Dating back to Plato, in the Republic, Divine rule is discussed as a political system. Machievellian philosophy asserts that a powerful ruler will and must employ the power of religion in order to sustain a scared and ignorant population. So many philosophers have discussed the irrationality of religion in politics and society...
The god idea becomes quite clearly absurd if you actually think about it and read the bible. Chriatians claim that god is infinite.Take this into consideration, infinate.
The second premise in christianity is God has a will, right? People will often say I'm acting on this due to god's will. People have claimed that for years, the crusades was predicated on 'god's will'.
If god is infinite, he(it) cannot contain a will, becaue to be infinite is to lack nothing, and willing is wanting. Wanting is lacking something, therefore, either god is not infinite or god does not have a will.
Basic philosophy of spinoza
And if God can send hurricanes and earthquakes whenever he wants why does he rely on idiots like Pat Robertson to do his will?
I always thought that a hurricane was a clumsy instrument for retribution, kind of like using dynamite to get rid of roaches in your house. Is God really that dumb? Besides, it lets people in the landlocked states off the hook.
This is why Separation of Church and State is essential to the survival of our Republic. Any goomba can pretend to speak for God; just look at history. If the government claims the authority of God, who can question it? How does anyone disprove what God has told someone? It's very much like a pet psychic... the ultimate con job.
Theocracy inevitably leads to tyranny. That's why Palintwit as vice president is a bad idea. The woman is an evangelical nutjob.
"And does it matter? Nope... You're an idiot."
Which is precisely why this piece of poo can only been seen on Fox Noise when not being heard on his crappy show!
I'd heard that the actual number of the beast was 616. I like that one better because it's my birthday.
If that's not enough for ya, here's Limpballs stoking fear and claiming them uppity blacks are training their kids to be terrorists against the white dominant americans...
As we are witnessing, the conservative movement is in shambles now and the only thing they can do is spew racist hatred out into the world and hope it sticks to their audience in droves. And how is the conservative right going to make sure race is all you can think of when you think of the name Obama?
How about by making the case that blacks in general are lazy, angry, and engaged in a 3 decades old plot to train black children as militants against the US? It's those scary black terrorists again. Don't think anyone would actually SAY that? Think again. Listen to it in Rush Limbaugh's own words. It's hard to cut out much of his racist diatribe so the full transcript will appear under the fold.
Wait a minute...
For years, Rush has been telling me that black people are lazy and living off of the teat of the federal government, when in reality, they've been training their kids to overthrow the white lead government of the United States. The only way to stop this, is to elect a black man as President of the United States. If Rush is so scared of the black folks, he should vote democrat, and feel safer.
But seriously, ACORN is non partisan. Simple as that. They register voters. And do other community acts to help lower income folks and moderate income folks raise their standard of living, and all of a sudden, they are some sinister liberal plot to destroy America? Please, before about 2 weeks ago, I would hazard to bet that there were a lot of people in the US who didn't even know they existed.
It appears that as recently as a couple of years ago, McCain embraced ACORN:

How about some facts about ACORN?
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/10/75639/882/410/626072
And from the above link:
"Fact: Voter fraud by individuals is extremely rare, and incredibly difficult. There has never been a single proven case of anyone, anywhere, casting an illegal vote as a result of a phony voter registration. Even if someone wanted to influence the election this way, it would not work."
I think republicans ought to calm the F down about ACORN, because in reality, it's nothing to get excited about.
"But seriously, ACORN is non partisan"
They must have tripled the strength of the kool-aid in the closing days of the election...
"They must have tripled the strength of the kool-aid in the closing days of the election..." - MissDee
You should probably lay off it then.
Exactly. What proof do you have MissDee that ACORN is NOT non partisan? Please try to promote, or put forth some actual, you know, facts... You can't, because they are.
Apparently MissDee believes that helping poor people register to vote is a partisan activity. Triple-strength indeed.
Once again, no response from a right-wing nutjob when confronted with a request for facts.
Bill Ayers is an Afrocentric black liberation theologist?
What I don't get is why these looney rigiht wing rapture watchers wouldn't just go ahead and vote for the anti-christ. They know their crazy prophecy says they can only be shipped up to Paradise after the anti-christ. Wouldn't this hurry things along?
There are 18 letters in the three names Barack Hussein Obama for an average of six letters for each of the three names. Three names, six letters each equals 666. Now if that isn't enough to convince you...I know it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. ;>)
Ronald = 6
Wilson = 6
(are you ready for this?)
Reagan = 6
And when Reagan moved out of the White House, he moved to 666 St. Cloud in Bel Air. Conclusive proof that the Gipper was the Devil, so we don't have to worry about another incarnation coming along for a while.
The religious zealots are going into hyperactive hyperdrive.
When it comes to demonizing people, Republican radio hosts are slimy enough to literally portray an opponent as a demon.
Rush Limbaugh referred to Tom Daschle (D-SD) as "El Diablo" before anthrax was mailed to Daschle's office.
Is there a competition today between Cunningham, Savage, and Limbaugh as to who can make the most idiotic statement about Barack Obama?
Get rid of one of those 6s, and you'll have Billy Boy's IQ.
I have the misfortune of coming across this dillweed on the radio each afternoon. He's a first-class moron who even McCain had to throw under the bus. He promised he was done with McCain after that, but here he is, pimping himself out like a typical wingnut.
Too funny.
I thought that "Dean of Drugs", Mr. Limbaugh called Sen. Obama the Messiah. Must be slipping back into his old ways.
Rush, please, you have tried your best for years trying to get the Cons elected so why not try HELPING them instead of hindering everyone else. Sir, you are not a great American and Seannie is taking over your spot. But you are well-paid so why should you care.
This antichrist talk is really irresposible. This kind of nonsense could spur some fundie nutjob to do something horrible.
Actually, it shouldn't because in order for the rapture to happen (according to these folks), you NEED to have the antichrist on Earth. If that's the case, the fundies should be turning out in drove for Obama the anti-christ. I mean, if they really believe that he is and all, and that they really believe in their made up version of the Bible.
I wonder...
If these fundies actually believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ, why wouldn't they vote for him to bring about the rapture?
The answer, as I see it, is either (1) they don't truly believe in the rapture nonsense; or (2) they truly don't believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ.
According to my fundy family, the Anti-Christ is supposed to show up in Israel...
I guess they'll just have to wait for another Anti-Christ to show up. </sarcasm>
ACORN workers trying to pad registration numbers. They are paid by the number of registrations they turn in. After they're turned in, ACORN must, by law, turn those registrations in to the powers that be. ACORN is just an organization whose goal is to get people to register to vote, republican, democrat or other. It's a non-partisan organization that is, in this instance, caught in the middle by the law - and being blamed for this nonsense by idiots on the right with an ax to grind - and no issues on which to campaign.
Mickey Mouse is not going to show up to vote, even if the fraudulent registration form were to pass scrutiny. I know that when I vote, I have to show my I.D. Mr. Mouse, please show your I.D. These fraudulent voter registration forms will not affect vote outcomes. Neocons know how to fraudulently affect the numbers (Florida, anyone? Ohio, anyone?) - and this is not how to do it.
This is the way I see it. If I'm wrong, someone please set me straight (or talk me down!) ;)
CommonSense,
Could there be the potential for voter fraud if, and I stress IF, you have precincts that are unmonitored and have large registrations ala Senior Mouse who could then just count them as votes?
This could easily be pulled off, but there would have to be many people in on the fix. I don't think it's likely but it could happen.
Desparation ain't pretty, folks. You are going to see the true colors of these republican pigs coming out in the next few weeks.
"The Beast" is already here. It lives in Bill Cunningham's toupe.
:-)
666,000 new voters means that Obama has the strength of 1,000 Anti-Christs or one negatively charged Kilochrist, as recently discovered by the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Also, Ronald Wilson Reagan not only equalled 666, but his name is an anagram for: Insane Anglo Warlord. Think about it.
