SUMMARY: CNN's Jason Carroll aired Cindy McCain's claim that Sen. Barack Obama's "vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body." However, Carroll did not point out that Sen. John McCain himself voted against legislation to fund the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
On the October 24 edition of CNN's American Morning, national correspondent Jason Carroll aired video of Cindy McCain asserting: "The day that Senator [Barack] Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body." Carroll then aired a clip of McCain saying of Obama: "Here you have a man who has distorted and lied about my husband's record." However, Carroll did not point out that Sen. John McCain himself voted against legislation to fund the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as Obama noted during the first presidential debate on September 26.
As Media Matters for America has documented, McCain -- along with all but two of his fellow Republican senators -- voted against a March 2007 bill that would have funded the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and would have provided more than $1 billion in additional funds to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
During the September 26 debate, McCain said that Obama "did the incredible thing of voting to cut off the funds for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan." Obama responded: "Senator McCain opposed funding for troops in legislation that had a timetable, because he didn't believe in a timetable. I opposed funding a mission that had no timetable, and was open-ended, giving a blank check to George Bush. We had a difference on the timetable. We didn't have a difference on whether or not we were going to be funding troops."
Media Matters has previously documented numerous other instances in which media figures have repeated Cindy McCain's attack on Obama without noting her husband's own vote.
From the October 24 edition of CNN's American Morning:
CARROLL: In Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, virtually anywhere Senator John McCain gives a speech --
McCAIN: This is my wife, Cindy.
CARROLL: -- his wife, Cindy, is right next to him.
LESLIE SANCHEZ (Republican strategist): In many ways, Cindy McCain is the rock behind John McCain. She's the stabilizer, the encourager, the nurturer.
CARROLL: And some political observers would now add, the attacker.
CINDY McCAIN: The day that Senator Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body.
CARROLL: And she's not afraid to get personal.
CINDY McCAIN: Here you have a man who has distorted and lied about my husband's record. My husband's never done that.
CARROLL: Supporters respond when the normally soft-spoken Cindy McCain gets tough, like with this jab at Michelle Obama.
CINDY McCAIN: And, yes, I always have been proud of my country.

Based on what I've seen every time I've watched Cindy Lou speak, a more accurate transcript would read as follows:
CARROLL: And some political observers would now add, the attacker.
CINDY McCAIN: Yes, I'm a bitch.
CARROLL: And she's not afraid to get personal.
CINDY McCAIN: Yes, I'm a bitch.
CARROLL: Supporters respond when the normally soft-spoken Cindy McCain gets tough, like with this jab at Michelle Obama.
CINDY McCAIN: Yes, I'm a bitch.
:-)
CINDY: "While I am still a bitch, would you have any Vicodins and Percocetes? They kind of mellow out the bitchiness in me and help me get over the nausea when I am around mickey the c.."
I don't know Cindy except the "look" she has on the campaign trail, which is reminiscent of other uptight Repub. wives...and as far as we know, she kicked her drug habit. I'd nominate Betty Ford for best Repub. first lady in the past 50 years. Hopefully Cindy can go back to living in the 8 homes very soon.
I am planing on having a primetime slot on faucks news and am practicing making things up on the fly. I will let everyone know when my first hour of false facts airs. cindy may have arrested her addiction but, she is and always will be a drug addict.
Is there ever a time she doesn't have a cold chill?
Answer: No. Prescription drug addicts like Hate Hag Liar Cindy McCain would have a cold chill in the 150 degree Sahara desert.
I feel some editing is needed also:
LESLIE SANCHEZ (Republican strategist): In many ways, Cindy McCain is the rock behind John McCain. She's the stabilizer, the encourager, the fertilizer.
.........she also used to change his depends until palin came along.
I am using "facts" like faucks news uses "facts": If it sounds plausible then I will say it and assume it is fact. It is called a verisimilitude; the foundation of faucks news.
.....sometimes, every news channel does this as well. "don't let the truth get in the way of a good BS story.
LESLIE SANCHEZ (Republican strategist): In many ways, Cindy McCain is the rock behind John McCain. She's the stabilizer, the encourager, the fertilizer.
Gramps McCain produces plenty of fertilizer on his own - every time he speaks.
And as thi video clip demonstrates, Hate Hag Liar Cindy adds some manure and lies of her own for good lying Republican measure.
CINDY McCAIN: Here you have a man who has distorted and lied about my husband's record. My husband's never done that.
About his own record? I suppose not. But he lied like a rug about Obama's.
LIAR CINDY McCAIN: Here you have a man who has distorted and lied about my husband's record. My husband's never done that.
This lying vicious evil hate hag lies even more than her lying sociopathic husband! Both of them threw away their consciences a long time ago.
The desperation oozing out of the Grampy/Twit campaign is palpable. There newest commercial is based on Joe Biden's statement, and shows lots of scary people who want to kill us Americans, with scary music underneath. Plus, the fact that even their surrogates are attacking Obama for visiting his dying grandmother should make them hang their heads in shame.
Problem is: No matter who wins, the lies and distortions won't stop. billybob o'really and inshannity will just be gloating when they lie. I saw them for the first three years of baby bush's missadministration do this. I have not heard either one of them sing the praises of baby bush in a long, long time.
I think the GOP Professional Liars are privately hoping for an Obama victory. The election of Bill Clinton helped them build their Talk Radio monopoly, and an Obama win will send the Troglodytes into a deep funk that only PigBoy Limbaugh can sooth. Since President Numbnuts and the NeoClowns have wrecked the economy and exhausted the military, they really don't want a Republican to inherit their mess.
Just watch.... they will blame the coming recession on Obama (if he wins). If Grampy wins, they'll blame it on the Democratic Congress.
Nerz, true enough.
The funny thing about this Cindy McCain comment, that nobody ever mentions, is that when this vote that she's talking about took place, her son wasn't deployed to Iraq at that point in time. And also that Bush failed to provide for the soldiers going over there originally during the invasion. The famous, "You go to war with the army that you have, not the one that you would like" quote from Rumsfeld sums up who was really responsible for putting our soldiers in more danger than they needed to be.
Well, now you're just complicating the issue with facts.
I hate it when I do that.
who was the decision maker? One day baby bush will look back and say "what the **** did I do" Then again, maybe he will just say what the ****.
I doubt it. The man still thinks that history will vindicate the things that he's done. Of course, he has a whole host of "historians" lining up to work at his library after he leaves office to try and spin his legacy, and what he left behind. Seriously. That's how deranged he has become.
Also, now if she had said, his vote sent a shiver down my spine because my son was going to deploy to Iraq in the future, then that would have been lying, but better than making it sound like her son was already there.
It is common knowledge the majority in congress can't do anything because the republicans gang up and block it. We are IN recession now. They are blaming Obama now (just a inside joke here). Obama will get the blame for Katrina and the downfall of the Confederacy in 4 years. limpbloatbahahahaha (limpbahaha has major edema and am sure he is fed like the ducks used to create pate.: Force fed with lots of grease, sugar and bleached white flour and oxies) Without the rightwing loon-talking heads, fake news would be off the air in a week.
cindy is bald? I did not know that! That definately changes everything. Got to go and email the Obama campaign.
