Morris on possible Clinton as sec. of state nomination: "It is the blonde leading the blind"
In his November 23 New York Post column commenting on news reports that President-elect Barack Obama will nominate Sen. Hillary Clinton to be his secretary of state, Fox News political analyst and syndicated columnist Dick Morris wrote that "[n]either Clinton nor Obama has spent five minutes conducting any aspect of foreign policy in the past. Neither has ever negotiated anything or dealt with diplomatic issues," adding, "It is the blonde leading the blind."
Morris also claimed that Clinton "will be a loose cannon as secretary of state, vindicating her own agenda rather than that of the president and burnishing her own image at every turn," echoing similar claims by other media figures.
From Morris' November 23 New York Post column:
It is still hard to believe but, if Hillary Clinton's "confidantes" are to be trusted, Barack Obama is about to appoint her secretary of state and she is about to accept. This appointment represents the capstone of betrayal of Obama's promise to be the "change we can believe in."
Having upended the Democratic Party, largely over his different views on foreign policy and the war in Iraq, he now turns to the leader of the ancient regime he ousted, derided, mocked and criticized to take over the top international-affairs position in his administration.
No longer, apparently, does he distrust Hillary's "judgment," as he did during the debates when he denounced her vote on the Iraq War resolution. Now, all is forgiven. After all, Obama's election, the only change he apparently truly believed in, is a fait accompli.
Apart from the breathtaking cynicism of the appointment lies the total lack of foreign-policy experience in the new partnership. Neither Clinton nor Obama has spent five minutes conducting any aspect of foreign policy in the past. Neither has ever negotiated anything or dealt with diplomatic issues. It is the blonde leading the blind.

Either Obama has chosen to put himself in this untenable situation because he is not wise in the ways of Washington or because he plans to be little more than a figurehead. Given his campaign, neither seems likely. But his promise of change has proven so bankrupt that maybe the rest of his candidacy is, too.

ZING!
This is surprising. I always expect a reasoned and fact-based analysis from Morris, especially on all matters Clinton.
That "Change" thing seems to be very difficult for some people to understand.
Isn't "change" what Morris expects back from his "investment" in female companionship???
Morris most likely hates Hillary Clinton because she refused to let him suck on her toes, and I'll bet Chelsea said NO as well...
I think it was Bill's toes that he really wanted to suck.
Or perhaps it was another extremity, but I'm not going to go down that road, as nothing good is likely to cum from it.
He expects them to change their socks between visits.
Naw, the problem with tricky dick is he tries to pay with change. By the time he counts out 10,000 pennies his hour's up.
I knew "change" was in there somewhere, now I know there is more change than I thought possible.
A penny for your thoughts... ;)
I think I have one stuck in one of my socks
Thank you MMFA, but I will take your word for it and not read Mr. Morris' full NY Post column, or even the abridged snippet included here - for I could risk becoming a blonde, or going blind.
But what if he's being quoted out of context, Tommy? Sure, aside from the parts about Dick not understanding what "change" means, much of the excerpts here seem to be based on unsupported predictions of the future. But maybe the rest of his column explains his time traveling.
and "shape shifting."
I also heard that toe sucking can lead to blindness.
vs. being a buttlicker which can lead to a real crappy taste for life...
I'm sure OSHA is had at work on both concerns.
dick morisless is about as much fun to watch as a fighting cock eating a peach. I wish he could get that toe nail imbeded in his lower left lip removed. He is the Cacius Clay of politics.
I guess Dickies' cute( and rehearesed) comment about "It is the blonde leading the blind" would be equivalent to "Fox viewers being lead around by some Dick".
Dick, your time of fadding into obscurity is soon approaching. If you continue your chidlike comments, you will cost the dearly departed Conservatives more and more votes as the Republicans will begin to can your ilk.
Dick Morris is a windbag. Its hardly worth the internet bandwidth to critique his inane ramblings.
I'm shocked, terribly shocked, that The Dick would have something terrible to say about Hillary Clinton. It must be the same as what Captain Reanult felt like to find out that there was gambling going on at Rick's Cafe Americain.
Seriously, that idiot has nothing left to do but to say something like that.
I can tell you one thing Little Dickie Morris does not want to do is go toe to toe with that blonde. She would eat that old phony's lunch and have time for a jog
Most certainly Obama is unruffling the feathers of Hillary's 18million voters. It's transparently obvious that the great organizer is smoothing the way for his encore 4 years hence!
Emmanuel and Clinton are arch enemies. She attempted to have him fired when Bill was prez. There will no be no love lost and, if anything, more enemnity between them. Is Team Obama hoping to neutralize Hillary by removing her from the senate? Can she be caged up in the SOS spot merryily singing the administration's tunes? Is she preparing to pull the rug out from under Obama in order to oppose him in 2012? Will she make a mistake to justify her firing? Time will tell.
I believe she is a good choice for all the reasons I've stated. I believe she is a poor choice when compared to Bill Richardson, the former UN ambassador, who has scads more experience and contacts than Hillary. Well, if anything, Clinton's political acumen is perserverance. During the campaign she devolved into pettiness, her persnickety semantics on the rise as she tanked in the primaries. She delayed turning over her delegates so some deal must have been struck prior to her pledge of condescension. Hillary's bane is her ego and its overreaching pride. Obama's seemingly natural perspicuity will offset this contrarian aspect.
