SUMMARY: On Hannity & Colmes, Dick Morris revived the myth that Sen. Hillary Clinton became a New York Yankees fan only after she decided to run for the Senate, saying: "What I've always hated about Hillary is the phoniness. 'I'm from New York.' 'I'm a Yankee fan.' 'Oh, I love to chug-a-lug.' 'I'm a hunting -- or a hunter.' You know, all of this absolute garbage that you know isn't true."

On the December 8 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor Dick Morris revived the myth that Sen. Hillary Clinton proclaimed herself a New York Yankees fan only after she decided to run for the Senate in New York. Discussing President-elect Barack Obama's selection of Clinton to be secretary of state, Morris said: "This is a juncture in her life that's really significant because she has a chance to stop being a phony and to start being who she really is, which is not a horrible person." He added: "What I've always hated about Hillary is the phoniness. 'I'm from New York.' 'I'm a Yankee fan.' 'Oh, I love to chug-a-lug.' 'I'm a hunting -- or a hunter.' You know, all of this absolute garbage that you know isn't true."

In fact, as Media Matters for America has noted, Clinton's 2003 autobiography, Living History (Simon & Schuster), contains a photograph of Clinton wearing a Yankees cap in 1992 -- eight years before she ran for the Senate. Further, The Washington Post reported on September 12, 1994, that "Mrs. Clinton ... as a kid was a 'big-time' fan of the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees and 'understudied' Ernie Banks and Mickey Mantle."

As Media Matters has previously noted, several conservatives and media figures, including Morris himself, have falsely claimed or suggested that Clinton became a Yankees fan only upon deciding to run for the Senate.

From the December 8 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes:

MORRIS: I want to say this about Hillary. This is a juncture in her life that's really significant because she has the chance to stop being a phony and to start being who she really is, which is not a horrible person. She's a pretty good manager. She doesn't procrastinate. She prioritizes well. She's articulate.

What I've always hated about Hillary is the phoniness. "I'm from New York." "I'm a Yankee fan." "Oh, I love to chug-a-lug." "I'm a hunting -- or a hunter." You know, all of this absolute garbage that you know isn't true. And she now has a chance as secretary of state really to prove her worth.

What teams are Morris and Hannity fans of? And for how long?

      And in any case,

      Go Chiefs!

      Go Riders!

I really think Dick Morris is on to something here.  I mean, who ever would have thought a politician would say or do something that's uncharacteristic, just to pander to potential voters?

What's next?  Lawyers who will lie to protect their clients?  Credit card companies who charge exhorbitant late fees?  Doctors with illegible handwriting?

What is this world coming to?!?

I believe the "Roughriders" are a canadian football team for whom the Chiefs are a farm club.

For the sake of the NFL, and the AFC West, I wish they'd send some players down to KC soon...

It's about time we required sworn loyalty oaths, lie detectors, and even DNA testing, from politicians who say they are fans of the local sports teams.

The supreme court is looking into allegations that Obama DOES NOT OWN Cubs tickets.  Some say the pictures of the ones you've seen on the internet that he claims are his have been altered, and there's no record of Wrigley Field issuing an official ticket to him.  Also, there is a recording of a phone call from Obama's paternal grandmother confirming he once wore a Cardinals cap.  In the phone call, Obama's paternal grandmother affirms that she was in the WalMart with him when he purchased the cap on March 13, 2004, the year he campaigned and was elected as the junior Senator from Illinois.

I don't expect this would ever get to court without enhanced interrogation techniques.

In fact, I'm starting to get the impression that Morris doesn't even really like the Clintons.

See, the way I look at it... a politician telling a crowd that he/she is a fan of the local team is kind of like telling someone that their newborn baby is beautiful.   All newborns look like Winston Churchill, but it would be imprudent to point that out to the proud parents.

NEON, same thing in the Royal family over here. Prince Dad once asked Royal Mom if the fifth child  in line was really his since the first four siblings all looked like one another. The Royal Mom was honest and told him that number 5 WAS his child...but the first 4 weren't. Impropriety, you say.

Am I the only one who actually believes Hillary Clinton followed both the Cubs and the Yankees when she was young? The Cubs were the hometown National League team that hadn't won a pennant since forever, but the Yankees were the American League glamour team that won championships. I don't find it being mutually exclusive to have rooted for both teams.

Let me add that over the years I've known a few girls who were baseball fans and I can definitely picture Hillary Clinton being a baseball fan...particularly living in Chicago with it's rich history of baseball. By the same token, I can picture Dick Morris playing with dolls as a youngster...  ;>)

Let me get this straight....Dickie Morris, a lying, phony person wants to give Hillary Clinton, a Senator and fture Sec. of State advice on being herself. I find something very odd about this. I just figured it out...Dickie is an idiot and should be thrown out of the human race.

Morris is a nasty piece of work BUT he does know the clintons real well!

It is a matter of record that she has a tortured relationship with the truth..who that is secure in who they are and what their experience is would need to lie about sniper fire, a relationship with Bhenair Bhutto,  was involved with foreign policy but  had no security clearance and had nothing to do with Rwanda, new nothing of the Norman Hsu corruption, was not invlolved with the Peter Paul contribution scandal, did not take silver and furniture from the WhiteHouse---just to name a few!!!

Who cares about her baseball preference---the evidence  is so much larger in the realm that matters...

What do you expect The Dick to say about Hillary Clinton?  Something honest?  Something fact-based?  It will be a shock when he doesn't say something like this.

It's the same old ride in a worn-out car that has absolutely no gas left in its tank.
