SUMMARY: On his radio show, Mark Belling said: "Whether it's blacks, Mexican-Americans, whatever, people who live in a neighborhood should not have to put up with newcomers deciding that that neighborhood is going to be 'Crimeville.' " Belling continued: "You wonder why racism occurs. Why people fear 'look what's happening to the neighborhood' when some -- when a minority person moves in. The answer is because sometimes it does mean an increase in crime."

On the December 10 broadcast of his Milwaukee radio show, host Mark Belling discussed reports about violence in a northwest Milwaukee neighborhood between rival Hmong-American criminal gangs and declared: "Whether it's blacks, Mexican-Americans, whatever, people who live in a neighborhood should not have to put up with newcomers deciding that that neighborhood is going to be 'Crimeville.' " Belling continued: "You wonder why racism occurs, why people fear 'look what's happening to the neighborhood' when some -- when a minority person moves in. The answer is because sometimes it does mean an increase in crime."

As Media Matters for America has documented, on the September 11 broadcast of The Mark Belling Late Afternoon Show, Belling asserted that "[o]ne of the reasons for the dysfunction in the inner city of Milwaukee is that black voters themselves do not hold their own officials accountable. Everybody else does." Later, he stated, "Instead of continually screaming racism and blaming all the white people in the community, look inward and take a look at the lazy, useless people that you are electing to represent you." He went on to say: "In most areas of the white community, when we have a do-nothing, useless public official, we know enough to vote them out, not defend them from the attacks of everyone else."

Belling's show is carried on News/Talk 1130 WISN-AM in Milwaukee, owned by Clear Channel Communications. Talkers magazine includes Belling in its "Heavy Hundred" list, which it describes as a list of the "100 most important radio talk show hosts in America."

From the December 10 broadcast of WISN's The Mark Belling Late Afternoon Show:

BELLING: Apparently the northwest side, including a neighborhood that has a lot of very, very nice but small houses, is the new battleground for these two gangs. The city of Milwaukee is seeking to essentially close a house that is right in the middle of the crossfire of all of this after requests by neighbors to please do something about this. The house is on West Acacia Street. It's owned by a man who has since moved out of town. His name is Cher Va Lor. He acknowledges that two of his sons are leaders of the Menace of Destruction, which is one of the large Asian gangs in Milwaukee. The Menace of Destruction has apparently been at war with the Asian Crips. According to the story in the newspaper and backed up by the communications that were sent to me, residents have been writing letters to the city begging to do something about this.

And I do know the neighborhood. It's kind of one of those areas that's sort of hooked in -- where it's still Milwaukee's city limits but near Wauwatosa. It's a very quiet, very nice neighborhood, and all of a sudden they see their neighborhood being destroyed because of these violent gangs that are literally firing gunshots at one another in an attempt to control the turf. The vast majority of the individuals involved in both gangs are Hmong or Hmong-American. The property owner, Cher Va Lor, is a Hmong-American who came to the United States in 1989.

Whether it's blacks, Mexican-Americans, whatever, people who live in a neighborhood should not have to put up with newcomers deciding that that neighborhood is going to be "Crimeville." You wonder why racism occurs, why people fear "look what's happening to the neighborhood" when some -- when a minority person moves in. The answer is because sometimes it does mean an increase in crime. In this case, this particular guy comes to the United States, raises a family full of gangbangers, and then like a typical slime, moves out of town and leaves the house vacant so it becomes a shooting gallery.

Peach of a guy this Belling. Racism is not about crime being perpetrated in a neighborhood. It's about hating someone because they're a different race than you. Criminals are criminals, and there are plenty of them that are, you know, white.

        My guess magnolia....

If this guy were publically asked whether he was/is a racist or not... he would probably say he was not because he was tolerent of minorities...

I swear... this new breed of compassionate conservative is a good joke amongst themselves!

And he's tolerant because he is wary of minorities moving into his neighborhood, right? ;)

God, talk about the posterboy of white collar racism.

Seems like there's a pretty simple solution to avoid the rise in crime rates when minorities move in:  Make vandalism, battery, and cross-burning legal.

That's why racists are signing up for active duty. They get free training for the coming fight they hope is gonna happen:

One of the Blood & Honour members claiming to be an active-duty soldier taking part in combat operations in Iraq identified himself to Kennard as Jacob Berg. He did not disclose his rank or branch of service. "There are actually a lot more 'skinheads,' 'nazis,' white supremacists now [in the military] than there has been in a long time," Berg wrote in an E-mail exchange with Kennard. "Us racists are actually getting into the military a lot now because if we don't every one who already is [in the military] will take pity on killing sand n!ggers. Yes I have killed women, yes I have killed children and yes I have killed older people. But the biggest reason I'm so proud of my kills is because by killing a brown many white people will live to see a new dawn."

        That was courtesy of C&L.

Another bit of Belling's bloviations: "It's mostly a rebellion against the attempts by all sorts of people to de-Christmas Christmas," he says. "When communities started calling Christmas trees 'holiday trees,' and all these advertisers started refusing to use the word Christmas in their ads, I thought it would be right thing to do to really put Christmas in their face." So expect some of that to be part of today's hour, which Belling recorded in advance. Among the songs he's playing today is his "first favorite," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town." Belling sees it as "the ultimate conservative Christmas song because it's just a great morality play. If you do the right thing you'll be rewarded, if you don't you'll be punished. Kinda the exact opposite of Barack Obama." I'm still scratching my head over what that means. This moron has also filled in for Limbaugh, so that gives you a pretty good indication of his mental capacity (or lack thereof).

And speaking of pests, I caught a Discovery channel show on Ratzilla last night (that's where the occasional insomnia puts a guy), and apparently Fla. and NJ are leading the way in giant mutant rat sightings. Are you keeping something from us, King?

Now that the rat is out of the bag, so to speak, I might as well let you in on my plan.

I've started a rat farm here in Central Jersey.

I hope to become the Oscar Mayer of rat meat during the upcoming depression.

By my count, that would put "Witches Aboard" up next. I still smile at parts of that one, but I don't want to spoil any of it for you. You've still eighteen to experience then and still many characters to meet.

There is some similar feel between Prachett and the Python at times. An earlier generation grew up to something called the Goon Show, which also has a mad humor running though it that comes from the same places.

Well, since the bottom fell out of the patriotic adult diaper market and with weak sales of the Jingometer©, I thought we needed to diversify.

We can't blame our business plan, W-King.

The adult diaper market was based on wingnuts being unconfortable wallowing in their own waste and leaving a trail of it behind.Nobody could have predicted how happy they would be with crapping all over their environment.

The Jimgometer® market was ruined when Vice-Presidential gag-nominee Sarah Palin explained that patriotism could be determined by zip code.

I hope the free-range rat market goes sky-high, and I look forward to my usually cut.

Stop the attacks on the person and try to anaylize the validity of the argument for a change folks.  This country is great, but we have parts everywhere with minorities and whites that are in poor shape.  Crime is rampant and we can just ignore the problem or try to find someway to pull them out of destitude.  It is true that nobody would want anybody regardless of their skin color to move into the neighborhood and lower the property values and bring in crime.  Just pointing the fingure at minorities is not very tactful or politically correct, but maybe we need to start realizing that minorities in this country are still suffering and need help.  And we also have enough poor and rich white folks to spread the blame to all colors and creeds for crime, corruption, greed, drugs, you name the problem.

That's interesting.  Where I live, I say "there goes the neighborhood" when a family moves in with Oakland Raiders logos.  One Raiders logo per home, no problem.  Two Raiders logos, hmm.  Three Raiders logos per home, in any combination of car, flag, license plate, window, blanket, tire cover or T-shirt and "Whoops there goes the neighborhood!" Oh yeah, the only people in my very mixed  neighborhood with Raiders logos are white.

Hmm when I lived in Alaska, the last three move ins to or Apartment Complex were white and after those move ins, we had 3 major burgleries in the next 4 weeks.  Hmmm I guess we could have made the assumption that whites were prone to increase the criminal activity in a complex.  Yep, sure enough, a crime family, all white as could be had targeted our complex for easy thefts.  Still, the next move in was white and no more thefts.  The difference, the police had caught the perp.  Only a total racist talks about any "group" as being more criminal than others.  Indivicuals commit individual thefts and those individuals come in all hues of skin.  To assume anything else is simply RACIST!!!!!!

Being the victim of a crime perpetrated by an Asian for example, could in fact leave you with a bad taste in your mouth for all Asians. This could be considered racism. Try living with the M.O.D in YOUR neighborhood for a few months before you experts run your mouths.
