SUMMARY: Guest-hosting The Lee Rodgers Show, Brian Sussman said: "I'm noticing this -- pictures of Sarah Palin. No getting around it: She's a babe. She really is an attractive woman. And the left loathes her for that." Sussman later challenged co-host Tom Benner to "show me one liberal, female politician who is a babe." Benner responded, "Yeah, I can't. I can't do it. I mean, all I think of is a frowsy -- frowning, annoyed, downturned." Sussman later called Rep. Barney Frank a "queen."

During the December 15 broadcast of San Francisco radio station KSFO's The Lee Rodgers Show, frequent guest host Brian Sussman said: "I'm noticing this -- pictures of [Gov.] Sarah Palin. No getting around it: She's a babe. She really is an attractive woman. And the left loathes her for that, if nothing else. They're just jealous that they can't produce a liberal woman that's as attractive." Later in the broadcast, Sussman asked co-host Tom Benner, known on-air as "Officer Vic," to "show me one liberal politician -- just show me one -- show me one liberal, female politician who is a babe." After Benner responded, "Yeah, I can't. I can't do it. I mean, all I think of is a frowsy -- frowning, annoyed, downturned," Sussman interjected, "[Sen.] Barbara Boxer [D-CA]?" He later stated that Boxer's "hair lately is just awful" and that "I have no idea what [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi [D-CA] really looks like. I don't know her prior to her surgery, so I don't know what that looks like. ... [I]f you had the tens of millions she does, you could look like that, too. I mean, you could look just like her. ... Complete with the, you know, the chest work." Sussman later added: "I'm thinking of another queen: Barney Frank."

Media Matters for America has also documented instances in which host Lee Rodgers has criticized women in the Democratic Party for their appearance, such as Rodgers' description of "the female leadership of the Democratic Party" as "ugly skanks" and his reference to Sen. Hillary Clinton as "the Hilldebeest."

Additionally, Sussman repeated the discredited claim that President-elect Barack Obama has not produced a valid birth certificate, saying, "Show us the birth certificate, man. Show us the money. It's sealed up in Hawaii? Show it to us. Don't give us this garbage."

From the December 15 broadcast of KSFO's The Lee Rodgers Show:

SUSSMAN: I'm noticing this -- pictures of Sarah Palin. No getting around it: She's a babe. She really is --

OFFICER VIC: She really is.

SUSSMAN: -- an attractive woman.

OFFICER VIC: She really is.

SUSSMAN: And the left loathes her for that, if nothing else. They're just jealous that they can't produce a liberal woman that's as attractive.

[...]

OFFICER VIC: Well, that's interesting with all those gaffes, you know, that -- and aren't we surprised that the old-time media hasn't picked up on that and run with those gaffes as opposed to the, what, one or two from Sarah Palin, who, incidentally, let's point out, people loved her.

SUSSMAN: I love her.

OFFICER VIC: Huge crowds, every time she showed up. Huge crowds.

SUSSMAN: Even still when she shows up, man, the crowds are gigantic. She energizes the folks, because she's a real conservative.

OFFICER VIC: She's authentic.

SUSSMAN: Yes.

OFFICER VIC: And people are starved for authenticity.

SUSSMAN: And she's also extremely good-looking, and I -- show me one liberal politician -- just show me one -- show me one liberal, female politician who is a babe, please. Just --

OFFICER VIC: Well, no --

SUSSMAN: -- name one. I really want to know. Name one.

OFFICER VIC: Yeah, I can't. I can't do it. I mean, all I think of is a frowsy -- frowning, annoyed, downturned --

SUSSMAN: Barbara Boxer?

OFFICER VIC: Yeah. Yeah.

SUSSMAN: That kind of describes her. And her hair lately is just awful.

OFFICER VIC: Always annoyed.

SUSSMAN: Yeah.

OFFICER VIC: Just, "I never -- God. It's just -- everything's awful. Err." You know?

SUSSMAN: Hillary? I mean, she -- given, given what she had --

OFFICER VIC: That's shrill. That's just shrill.

SUSSMAN: But given what she -- what nature gave her to work with, she's done well with it.

OFFICER VIC: Yes, she has.

SUSSMAN: I'm very serious. She's done well.

OFFICER VIC: I agree with you.

SUSSMAN: I have no idea what Nancy Pelosi really looks like. I don't know her --

OFFICER VIC: I will tell you --

SUSSMAN: -- prior to her surgery, so I don't know what that looks like.

OFFICER VIC: I think she presents herself well in public. She always looks great. Her hair looks great. She's got the pearls -- the $40,000 string of pearls -- because she represents the little guy.

SUSSMAN: Yeah, but, dude, if you had the tens of millions she does, you could look like that, too. I mean, you could look just like her. In fact, you, you know --

OFFICER VIC: On weekends, sometimes I do.

SUSSMAN: Complete with the, you know, the chest work and --

OFFICER VIC: Yeah.

SUSSMAN: Yeah, uh-huh -- weekends.

OFFICER VIC: You never know. You know, it's slow and, you know, there's nothing on the -- on the cable.

SUSSMAN: I mean, I'm thinking of another queen: Barney Frank.

OFFICER VIC: Oh, God.

SUSSMAN: What's that all about?

OFFICER VIC: "It's another one here. It's Barney Frank." He's almost Buddy Hackett. "It's Buddy Hackett" --

SUSSMAN: It's true. He's like a cartoon character.

[...]

SUSSMAN: Today, by the way, is the day that the Electoral College meets to officially elect President Barack Obama as -- as our next --

OFFICER VIC: So what if they get cold feet? I mean, wouldn't that be something if they suddenly go, "Uh, no, this isn't -- we're not doing that."

SUSSMAN: Yeah, like if someone involved with the Electoral College says, "There's just one little issue. We're looking at the Constitution of the United States of America and the requirement is 35 years of age --

OFFICER VIC: Right.

SUSSMAN: -- residing in the United States so many years, and, oh yeah, citizen." Can we prove the citizenship thing right now please, once and for all? It is amazing, isn't it?

OFFICER VIC: It is. It is, and it's gonna dog him. This will not go away until his birth certificate is published.

SUSSMAN: Show us the birth certificate, man. Show us the money. It's sealed up in Hawaii? Show it to us. Don't give us this garbage.

OFFICER VIC: [inaudible] A certificate of live birth.

SUSSMAN: Which couldn't allow you to play Pop Warner football or Little League baseball. Show us the birth certificate. That's all you have to do. Then you'll get right-wingers like me off your hide. That's all you gotta do, man.

She's a babe... And the left loathes her for that...

No, I loathe her because she's a dishonest, shallow, bible-thumping, right wing, Republican hypocrite who was unqualified to serve as Vice-President...although her fancy pageant walking was kind of annoying, too.

I've said the same thing before. The right can't get over the fact that the country told them loud and clear that they are morally bankrupt and devoid of any new ideas so they try to console themselves by focusing on "beauty".

And, Snoop, I've been saying since day one that average Republican women want to "be" Sarah Palin ("she's like me...!") and Republican men want to "do" her. It is shallowness beyond description...but so typical of the Republican base. The hilarious part is that these two radio morons don't even realize how shallow their remarks reveal them to be.

If you ask me, your "drooling" comment was a better insult than their "frowning" comment.  They need to step it up a notch if they want to play the insult game.

There was a time that I tried to remain civil and walk the high road with these guys.  I even used my real name on discussion boards back in the months following 9/11.  I figured that, since I was reasonable and polite in my arguments, what could be the harm?

i got a brutal education real fast.  I had the audacity to question the wisdom of going into Iraq, and I got threats of bodily harm to me and my children.

Since then, I have found that it is much safer to use a fake name,  and much more theraputic to be snarky and rude, just like them.

Since I am relatively new to computers, the internet and such, my experienced friends warned me about making my name and address available.  Boy, did I learn fast, too.  I always refused to read anything that wasn't signed; thought that if you had to say something, be a man about it and own up.  On these posts we get to know each other pretty well without actually knowing where we can be attacked, physically.  The downside is it makes it so easy to call names and be insulting.  I would always avoid insulting someone's physicality, race, sexuality, or even spelling, but, when it comes to brain-dead comments, the gloves are off.

These chuckleheads don't understand that they are demeaning their own party icon by repeatedly claiming that she is disliked by liberals because of her looks.  As if she has no positions or political ideas to like or dislike - oh wait....

Anyway, there is this whole "would I or wouldn't I like to do Sarah Palin" discussion bouncing around restaurants and water coolers that's a little disturbing and stalkeresque - and bipartisan.  The ladies of The View were roundly ridiculed (appropriately, I think) for their musings on Nancy Pelosi's husband's sexiness.  Just as it was creepy to hear Whoopi Goldberg talk about bedding Pelosi's husband, it's just as cringe-inducing to hear men proclaim their willingness or otherwise to have sexytime with the governor of Alaska.  Or maybe it's a Southern thing and this doesn't go on everywhere - we do seem to be stuck in the 70's here sometimes.

The sexiness rating phenomenom is creepy.  I was in a conversation in a group about her general unfitness for high office and a guy out of the blue just volunteered "Well I wouldn't **** her!"  As if this person could just go up to Wasilla, knock on her door, and have his way with her if he so chose. What is the polite response to a comment like that anyway? We all just acted as if we didn't hear it.

Let me add this in my defense... At the risk of telling you a lot more than you need (or want) to know, I am a red-blooded American male with a few years around the track who is (thankfully) still very much attracted to the opposite sex. However, I can honestly say that I never looked at Sarah Palin "that way". The woman turns me off in so many ways that are more than I could describe here. However, knowing the male psyche I called it from the start that there would shallow types who saw her that way. It was only after I began hearing other men expressing a sexual attraction to her that I felt compelled to express my personal view on the matter...not that Sarah Palin would ever appear at my doorstep with loving on her mind. But the guys who want to "do" Sarah Palin strike me as looking at her as they would a lap dancer. In my many years of following politics I think this is the first time I've seen anything as bizarre as this...or as bizarre as the ascent of Sarah Palin.

And, to add... if Sarah Palin was a serious person with a strong intellect we wouldn't be having this conversation. Sarah Palin relies on her her adorableness and flirty personality to get by...and without those things she wouldn't be as attractive to shallow guys.

I once confessed to my therapist that I thought about sex every 5 minutes.  She said, "That's strange.  Most men think about sex every 5 seconds."  At 73, don't believe I don't still think about sex, I just can't remember what goes where.  There are many attractive ladies in my circle of friends that I never entertain thoughts concerning sex.  It's still about the "chemistry".  When Sarah Palin first appeared on the television screen at my local pub, a couple of guys made rude, but expected, remarks about how "hot" she was.  My reaction was the exact opposite!  "What?", I cried.  "HER?"  There was "chemistry" there, alright, but it was toxic.  To me, personally, a self-satisfied cutie-pie is always a turn-off.  The most attractive woman I know actually blushes when someone pays her a compliment.  O.K., I am going to use a word for which I am going to apologize in advance in reference to Sarah Palin: repulsive.  A terrible word, I know, but it came to me rather quickly after seeing her perform and hearing what she said.  If her performances and her speeches turn conservatives on, then what does that say about them?  Getting too personal, here.  Sorry.

Maybe the Liberal women politicians are "frowning, annoyed, downturned" because out here in the real world we are enmeshed in two wars, a disintegrating economy, rocketing unemployment, crumbling infrastructure and a climate crisis. I've read a number of times on your website that Obama has released a copy of his birth certificate.  Being that you are allegedly a media watchdog organization, you really should fact check your own articles.  Obama HAS NOT released a complete copy of his birth certificate to anyone.  He has merely posted an "alleged" Certification of Live Birth on his website.  In Hawaii, a Certification of Live Birth is NOT a birth certificate.  The actual birth certificate, which includes much more information, is called a CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH.  This is the document over which Obama is fighting multiple lawsuits.  This is the document which he refuses to submit to the American people, or the courts. Even the State of Hawaii Home Lands division does not accept a Certification of Live Birth as proof of citizenship without more verification:

      See:  http://hawaii.gov/dhhl/applicants/appforms/applyhhl

Media Matters, please do your homework on this issue.  You are perpetrating a gross disservice on the American people by perpetuating the fallacious "Obama" line that he has already produced his birth certificate.

One more thing:  Doesn't it bother any of your editorial staff that not only has Obama refused to submit a Certificate of Live Birth for review by the public and the courts, but he also has refused to disclose his records at Occidental, his records at Columbia, his records at Harvard, his records of 8 years as a State Senator, his Selective Service records, his complete medical records, and the names of all those who gave less than $200 to his campaign?  Don't you have just a little intellectual curiosity when it comes to Obama?

"This is the document over which Obama is fighting multiple lawsuits."

I don't see much fight coming from Obama on this, probably because he doesn't have to, since the courts have so far resoundingly rejected these cases.

Slowly, but surely, the U.S. Supreme Court is rejecting them one by one.

Your beef lies with the court system that refuses to take these lawsuits seriously, not some partisan organization posting their research.

In every court action, Obama's lawyers have responded to the complaints, and tried to have the cases dismissed on a technicality, e.g. that the average citizen does not have legal "standing" to question his eligibility to serve as President.  So far, he has been successful, however, Alan Keyes, a Presidential candidate from the American Independent Party, has filed his own action in the California Superior Court.  It will be more difficult for the courts to dismiss this case on the basis of standing.

My "beef" lies with both entities:  partisan media outlets and a court system which does not believe that we citizens have a right to question our political leaders.

The courts have not "rendered" judgments, so to speak.  They have refused to even consider the cases because they have held that we, as citizens, have no legal "standing" to question the eligibility of a Presidential candidate.  No court has decided any of these cases based upon the merits of the case.

You can question the eligibility of a presidential candidate, but my understanding of the refusals is that you can't do it with a lawsuit unless you can prove personal harm, and thus, entitlement to damages.

What is the personal harm that occured to Phillip Berg, for example, that entitles him to damages?

You are somewhat correct in your analysis.  Your question as to what personal harm we would suffer if an illegitimate candidate fraudulently occupied the office of the Presidency is humorous.  I would imagine that all Americans would be harmed by a situation whereunder a candidate misled the entire country about his eligibility to run for office, and became President under fraudulent circumstances.  Actually, I can't believe that any citizen would argue FOR the court's proposition that we citizens have no right to question the eligibility of our elected officials.  I can't help but think that only those who blindly support Obama would make such an argument in favor of the courts on this issue.

As I said before, you absolutely have the right to question eligibility of our elected officials, but the judges are saying you can't do it in their courtrooms with a civil case.

Since those bent on keeping Obama out of his elected position believe his presidency would be violation of the law as stated by the U.S. Constitution, I would recommend that they start a lobbying effort with representatives in Congress to hold hearings to see if they're willing to find a special prosecutor willing to take the case.

I am extremely skeptical that even the most hardened Republican congressmen would consider starting that kind of political circus right now, much less be able to find a prosecutor who feels like challenging the political will of the voting populace.

You can't "duplicate" the evidence, unless you have evidence to duplicate.  Obama has refused to disclose a certified copy of his actual Certificate of Live Birth.  When and if he does, THEN we can address duplicate evidence.  By the way, please give one good reason why Obama is fighting multiple lawsuits in an effort to conceal his complete Certificate of Live Birth, rather than merely spend $12.50 for a certified copy to submit to the court (and the American people).  Thank you for your cooperation.

                  (1) I'll start by saying that if this whole birth certificate thing were real, don't you think those on the Right would have done something about it...before now?  It would have been excellent fodder for Righties during the election campaign.  Even Hillary might have used such a tactic.  But you see, it's nonsense.  Nobody except for Right-wing tinfoil hat wearers are beating this drum.

                  (2) Obama is "fighting" multiple court battles because there are people out there who will do anything to keep Obama out of the White House.  People keep filing suit.  He has to answer the complaints.  It's the way the system works.

                  (3) If Obama were indeed not a natural born U.S. citizen, it wouldn't put Republicans in the White House.  It would make Joe Biden president...and possibly Nancy Pelosi as VP (probably not, but you never know).  That would be a Right-wing nightmare, now wouldn't it?

                  (4) If Obama were indeed not a natural born U.S. citizen, it would mean that there was some sort of collusion some 45+ years ago (as if his mother knew he would turn out to be president in the future) to hide his true nationality.  There obviously wasn't.  Think about your supposition, follow it to it's logical conclusion.  You'll come up empty.

                  (5) Yeah, Obama could spend the $12.50 to cough up his birth certificate.  But why should he?  If he were to give into the demands of everyone who had a demand, we would get nowhere.  It's comparable to the reason why a president doesn't meet with kidnappers/hostage takers, or even Cindy Sheehan for that matter.  To do so would open the floodgates for more inquisition.  "But, but...she complained and got an audience with the president...why can't I?"

Let's get real here.  Even the most rabid Righties are not on this boat.  They know they won't get anywhere.

Face facts.  You lost the election in a mandate landslide.  Get over it. (hhhmmm..that sounds very familiar from four and eight years ago....)

                  Hey Planner, read carefully.

As Media Matters for America has repeatedly documented, the Obama campaign has posted a copy of Obama's birth certificate on its Fight the Smears website and reportedly provided the original to FactCheck.org, whose staff concluded in an August 21 post that it "meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship." A Hawaii Health Department official also reportedly confirmed to PolitiFact.com that the birth certificiate Obama's campaign posted on the Fight the Smears website is valid, proving he was born in the state of Hawaii.

Further, as Media Matters has also noted, the Hawaii Department of Health released a statement on October 31 by Health Department director Chiyome Fukino, in which Fukino confirmed that "the Hawai'i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

Proving he is a U.S. citizen should be the key word.

WRONG... I checked the site and that's not what it said. I also checked Hawaii law and could find no distinction. A "Certificate" is, by definition, a "Certification". Each is considerd a "Birth Certificate". The format of birth certificates vary from state to state, and even within a state it may change periodically depending on revisions to the format or even a change in the vendor of the forms. Barack Obama has posted on his website a copy of his Certification of Live Birth which was authenticated by the State of Hawaii. You people are nuts...

Sanders, etc., let's discuss the issues here...and as soon as I figure out the issue, I, we, are going to sue the Supreme Court for allowing a "legally" elected person become President.

2477, help out here. Could you describe the term "fighting" multiple lawsuits"? I had the same problems with these posters when the said that George Bush could not prove that he was AWOL? Even though our George couldn't prove he was in Alabama or wherever, he got to serve a Commander-in-Chief? Maybe we can produce his whereabouts during his tour of duty. I'll call Mr. Berg tomorrow.

Just between the two of us 2477, I think these posters are toying with us and whispering to one another that Obama is the new President of the United States.

Even if the Birth certificate issue was valid, you're begging the question here. Most of the posters who have been around here for a while tend to dismiss questions with blatant and dishonest logical flaws like this. Maybe if you rephrase your question, link to a source for what you're asserting, and ask the question without any logical fallacies in there, somebody might take you seriously.

Mr. Planner 2477, Unlike the other posters on this site, I am in total agreement with you. You are right. You are absolutely correct in all you say. I think that the API, African Press International, has all the proof needed and they are going to release it before Election Day. And when they do, these infidels will realize that President-Elect Obama...wait a minute, he was ALREADY elected. How could that be since you and I agree that P.E. Obama is not legal. Where is that API info? I need it. And why didn't our TalkRadio people get this out into the public? Why is it that just the two of us know about this? Why didn't McCain or the Princess bring this out? I am angry.

Here in Pittsburgh, we can settle this. Meet me under the old Kaufmanns' clock and we'll carry our signs. Damn liberal cheaters.

P.S. Planner, how can we prove that a Messiah would even have a birth certificate? And after we get this President Obama guy, we are going after Jesus. Never saw his birth certificate either. Damn those liberals.

They pulled this BS back in 2004... Did anyone get the email showing "The women of the Republican Party" which included pictures of Bo Derek, Janine Turner, Laura Bush, Peggy Noonan, Laura Ingrahm, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Monica Crowley and Debbie Schussel; comapred to "the women of teh democrat party" which included rather unflatering photos (even given the people in question) of Barbara Streisand, Helen Thomas, Hilary Clinton, Teresa Kerry, Madeline Albright, Janet Reno, Andrea Dworkin, Nancy Pelosi & Susan Estrich.  And then asked: Which would YOU prefer?

Well... let's see... we could have a country run by...

a former Attourney General, a former Seceratary of State, the Speaker of the House, a US Senator,  and just two journalists, one author (also a professor), one (award winning) singer & actress.

      OR

a first lady, FIVE radio talk show hosts/commentators, one author & two actresses.

Which do YOU think is more qualified to shape public policy?

And [conservatives] wonder why we call them stupid.

NGEddie, somebody posted one of those here a while back.

The "Democrat women" were mostly women 60 or older, as you mentioned the most unflattering photos, some looked retouched to make them look worse. Most of the women pictured were ones who had built their careers on their work and intellect.

The "Republican women" were mostly talking heads who had jobs based mainly on their looks, not on any sort of talent or ability.

The funny part was, even with this calculated cherry-picking of a handful of women, the righty side didn't have anybody too impressive (unless your tastes run toward Palin & Coulter, & mine don't)

Isn't Hollywood full of far-left moonbat women? I think there are a few there that could have been used in place of Helen Thomas. Jessica Alba is about as politically credible as Michelle Malkin.

Irony, I got curious about A Jolie, seeing as how her daddy's so conservative, and i found this item on a local blog. Pretty funny, the shallow cons want her to be conservative, and are using the logic that she doesn't fit into their mythical stereotypes of liberals (and her gun necklace) to talk themselves into it.

She believes in justice, and seems bright. "Hey" the wingnuts think "that's how we imagine ourselves!"

Don't look at the picture. It's ugly.

She and her husband have a house here in New Orleans in the French Quarter. I know she loves her kids and that's a big plus in my book.

Just checked out the site you provided about Jolie.  He photo looks like one of those police composites.  She and Brad have a home here in New Orleans and are doing some good things for us.  As for the politics, she said she was independent.  So what that that prove?  Nothing.  We all know what a "Southern Democrat" means.  (I read Irony's post right below this one.  Sorry for the repetition.)  The fact that Pitt and Jolie are putting their money and their celebrity where their mouths are means a lot to New Orleans.

None of the above.  The 57 states remark was most likely due to fatigue.  I doubt that Obama really thinks that there are 57 states.  The interesting aspect to the remark was the fact that the mainstream media was silent about it.  If Palin had made the same remark, it would have been front page news for weeks.

                    1) The role of the VP

                    2) The meaning of Free Speech and Free Press with regards to the press crticising politicians, and who these things are supposed to protect.

                    3) Creation science being somehow on equal footing as evolution and deserves equal billing.

                    4) a single supreme court decision she disagreed with other than Roe V Wade, after advancing the talking point about activist liberal judges.

                    5) The name a single news source or newspaper or newsmagazine that she read.

If SHE had said "57 states" there's enough of a credability gap that she may have actually meant it.

Your hypothetical about how it would have been handled if it was Palin is only a hypothetical, and a worn-out technique badly overused by posters here, left and right. Palin, however, made much stupider remarks that were more significant.

Given the shape we're in as a country--"f---ed" over by W, Cheney and their minions-- you'd think these Republicans would be on another subject? But no. Just a little clarification, TadekKorn, on the terms you used.  A "shmuck" refers to a penis, and is a terrible insult, even though it is used so often that we tend to overlook the original seriousness.  A "putz" refers to the tip or head of a penis, and is therefore even more insulting.  The terms are mistakenly used without making a distinction between the two, but the beauty of Yiddish is in its subtle shades of meaning.  Thus, a shmuck is a thoroughly unpleasant and mean person, always on the look-out to destroy you.  A putz is an annoying and worthless individual, but of little consequence.  Both are very vulgar and are never used around ladies or children.  However, either one is appropriate for "certain people".  Enjoy them in good health.
