SUMMARY: After Fox News aired promotions for The Fox Nation telling viewers, "It's time to say 'no' to biased media and 'yes' to fair play and free speech," The Fox Nation labeled Chris Dodd and Barney Frank a "[d]angerous duo," linking to an article that did not in any way characterize them as "[d]angerous."

In promoting its newly launched website, TheFoxNation.com, Fox News has run advertisements telling viewers that "[i]t's time to say 'no' to biased media and 'yes' to fair play and free speech." However, on March 31, The Fox Nation labeled Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) a "[d]angerous duo," linking to an Agence France-Presse article that simply reported that Dodd and Frank "promised President Barack Obama on Monday they would work with the White House to enact a sweeping overhaul of US financial regulatory structures by year's end." Nothing in the AFP article in any way characterized Dodd or Frank as "[d]angerous."

From The Fox Nation:

From the AFP article:

Two key US lawmakers promised President Barack Obama on Monday they would work with the White House to enact a sweeping overhaul of US financial regulatory structures by year's end.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd and House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, both Democrats, wrote to Obama after US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner pushed last week for major reforms.

Support from the two Congressional heavyweights will be critical to Obama's efforts to overhaul US financial supervision.

"We write today to reiterate our commitment to work together on a bicameral basis with your administration to enact legislation by the end of the year to create a new, more robust regulatory framework to enhance financial stability and protect investors and consumers in the 21st century," they wrote.

The lawmakers pledged "to act expeditiously, carefully, and deliberately" to ensure "more effective supervision and regulation" and they agreed with the "core principles" that Geithner laid out on Thursday.

They also vowed to work "with other major financial centers" around the world to coordinate efforts and minimize the likelihood that any new rules could hurt US competitiveness.

Dodd and Frank also said they favored "comprehensive reform of the corporate governance and executive compensation of financial institutions" after a bonus controversy at bailed-out insurer AIG.

Geithner on Thursday unveiled broad reform proposals covering banks and other financial firms as well as hedge funds, money market funds and the more complex derivative market, drawing on lessons learned from the global financial meltdown.

From Fox News' promotion of The Fox Nation:

ANNOUNCER: It's time to say "no" to biased media and "yes" to fair play and free speech. Express your views, your values, your voice. It's your nation. The Fox Nation. Finally, a place to call home: TheFoxNation.com.

You make a good point Captain,

That was a very powerful piece.  The corporate media is able to use the corporatized judicial systemto retain their priviledge of lying at will.

...and also their power to intimidate the dwindling number of good journalists.

"could you give me a example of fox's NEWS bias. NOT the commentators. but NEWS."

What the hell do you think MMfA has been doing here the last five years? Twiddling their thumbs? Every thread by MMfA that speaks about Fox is about their bias, lies, etc, etc...

Unless of course you are attempting to claim that those that work at FoxNoise don't actually represent FoxNoise and what it is they spew (the bias, lies, distortions, and propganda) that is spoken by them all on an hourly basis but is not actually endorsed by FoxNoise but that FoxNoise (the company) is mearly allowing itself to simply be used as a vessel for the mouth pieces that work there?

Is that what you are claiming?

well if you read what you youself wrote.....your the one firing the first insult shot.

your claiming bias on the part of MMFA because the majority of stuff thats on this site comes out of Fox News......did you ever think for a second that, its precisly what is going on?

that its simply MMFA calling out FOX and the Washington Times and Rush and everyone else?

there have been a number of occasions where FOX got caught with their own bias. most recent and aggregious example was that little slide chart that came straight from the Republican Senate Comm. Office. complete with typo and all and it was read on air. and that was the most recent and where they got caught red handed.

how about O'Reilly? sends a producer to tail a woman on vacation who blogged about his own insensitive statement and hypocritical actions. and O'Reilly has the balls to say that she hurt rape vicitms because she called him out?

how about having Karl Rove on as an analyst? the man who tried to create a PERMENANT REPUBLICAN MAJORITY. and who is being looked into for that whole mess with the Alabama governor. oh yeah and his constant dodging of summons from CONGRESS.

oh yeah and my personal favorite....MICHELLE BACHMANN. neo cons friendly behind enemy lines "war correspondent" who seems to adhere to mccarthyism. and the reason i bring her up, simply brecause one she spouted her crap on Hannity's radio show, and not one person in congress from the republican party has come out and said to her rectract or apologize for your statement.

how about having Ann Coulter, Andy Martin, and Jerome Corsi as guests. people who have cooked up conspiracy theories on a regular basis and consistentaly say vile and hateful things about people who do not agree with their politics and their points of view.

i could go on and on and on and on. im not quite sure what "bigger picture" your getting at here.....but ill tell you what i see as a bigger picture.

neo cons, now in the minority are doing everything they can to derail president obama at all costs. from delaying senator elect al franken to taking his seat. to trying to decry the use of budget reconciliation, even though they themselves used it many times when they were in the majority. holding up nominations as best they can, filibustering more than at any time in history, commitiing the sin of omission on a near daily basis or just committing outright lies. allowing commentators and radio personalities to speak vile statements and not lifting a finger to stop them, heck they are near outright supporting them. allowed during the campaign a number or racisit people to speak out and allowed lies about president obama being a terrorist, not being born in this country, and about him being a socialist when the republican vice presidential nominee was well known to be governor of probably the most socialistic state in the US, and bragging about that fact. and then stirring up crazy people still spreading lies about the presidents citizenship and birth, about what he is trying to do to save our economy.

the big picture here is that simply you are incorrect. if there is bias on the part of MMFA, well then Fox NEWs has MMFA beat by a ratio of at least 20 to 1.

now notice i did not fire a single insult at you...could have done so very easily. now what are you gonna say?

have you thought that there have been no mistakes committed on the part of olbermann and maddow?

and your im independent i think for myself......bill o'reilly said that too.

as for substance read what i was responding to. i think there is plenty of substance that i was answering........but i also notice that you agreed with me that fox news is biased........

i never said mmfa wasn't biased...but if they are...then the difference between them and fox news is very glaring.......
