SUMMARY: Fox News again aired "FOXfact[s]" about the House Republican budget that were nearly identical to portions of an op-ed Rep. Paul Ryan published in that day's Wall Street Journal.
During the noon ET hour of the April 1 edition of Fox News' Happening Now, as co-host Jon Scott was interviewing Rob Nabors, deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, Fox News again aired "FOXfact[s]" that were nearly identical to portions of an op-ed Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) published in that day's Wall Street Journal. Media Matters for America noted that nearly identical "FOXfact[s]" aired during Scott's interview with Ryan during the 11 a.m. ET hour.
During that hour, using nearly identical language, both Fox News and Ryan's op-ed characterized President Obama's cap-and-trade proposal as a "scheme," but Fox News changed the wording of the "FOXfact" during the Nabors interview to remove the word "scheme." Ryan wrote, "We do these things by rejecting the president's cap-and-trade scheme," and during the 11 a.m. hour, the "FOXfact" stated that the "GOP budget rejects the president's cap-and-trade scheme." During the noon hour, this "FOXfact" was revised to state: "GOP budget rejects the president's cap-and-trade plan" [emphasis added].
Below are the relevant portions of Ryan's Wall Street Journal op-ed, followed by screen captures of the five "FOXfact[s]" that aired during Fox News' noon hour interview with Nabors:
1. From Ryan's op-ed:
"The Republican budget achieves lower deficits than the Democratic plan in every year."

2. From Ryan's op-ed:
"Under our plan, debt held by the public is $3.6 trillion less during the budget period."

3. From Ryan's op-ed:
"Our budget gives priority to national defense and veterans' health care."

4. From Ryan's op-ed:
"We do these things by rejecting the president's cap-and-trade scheme."

However, during the 11 a.m. hour of Happening Now, the "FOXfact" described the president's cap-and-trade plan as the "President's cap-and-trade scheme" [emphasis added]. From the 11 a.m. hour with Ryan:

5. From Ryan's op-ed:
"Our budget does not raise taxes, and makes permanent the 2001 and 2003 tax laws."

After airing the fifth "FOXfact," Fox News left its "FOXFact" box empty for approximately 16 seconds before removing it entirely:

The GOP News Channel are a brazen lot.
Actually brazenly stupid, in a moronic sort of way.
Oh come on! They're not saying it's a "fact," they're saying it's a "FOXfact."
A "FOXfact" has more truthiness and isn't subject to your complicated "sourcing" and "checking."
Hell, why doesn't FOX just get John Boehner and Eric Cantor to read the news and be done with all this pretense that FOX News and the Republican Party are not one and the same?
"Pretense?!!!"
You forget yourself, "pretense" is all the GOP and FOX have. You sir -- if that indeed is what you are -- blaspheme against these two fine institutions by asking them to get up all they have to offer. Leaving them in affact naked to the light of truth.
Good day sir -- I said good day. (sound of gutteral noises muffled by a handbar mustache and a glass of gin.)
Does this mean I have to apologize to Rush Limbaugh...? ;>)
yes and make sure you make your obligatory sacrifices as well....i have the ancient proscribed procedures on how to do so
This is getting way beyond ridiculous if FOXNEWS calls itself a journalistic outfit.
I partially watched the Brett Baeir show from 6.30 to 7 PM today and seemed like they were making their own news. The panelists were Barnes, Liason and Krauthhammer (sorry if I misspelled). Fair and balanced?
It was hilarious to see all of them frothing at the mouth even before they opened it. Best was the Charles K. guy who seemed like if someone gave him a gun, he would shoot Obama, or pass the gun to someone else so he can be safe and continue to froth. He said repeatedly that Obama denigrated US or something to that effect just because Obama said he wants to 'reset' US-Russia relationship.
Barnes said something more meaningless than above.
On NY-20 he (CK) was all over the place. The media's honeymoon with Obama is over, but it will never be over. The election is a referendum on Obama but it is not. It is too early to write off Obama so he is not going to do it, but he wants to do it so he will do it anyway.
With an opposition like this, can you blame the Dems if they do what the Republicans did the past 8 years?
And on the New York special election, their coverage, during above show, presented the currently lagging Republican candidate as the leading candidate. He appeared to be giving a victory speech while the Democratic candidate was shown as if he was saying he did not lose.
Versus listening to putrid air, Limbaugh, there is an upside...
Laughing at the nerve, Rep.Paul Ryan, to take que from Fox, it no wonder I call politians puppets.
this is now the second time that fixed noise has been caught red handed parroting the neo con talking points.
i cannot see how any neo con could defend fixed noise any further.
and best of all one of guys playing parrot was the same one that got caught last time around
