SUMMARY: For at least the second time in three days, Fox News aired on-screen text describing "tea party" protests that Fox News hosts will be attending as "FNC Tax Day Tea Parties." Fox News has often described the protests as a response to President Obama's fiscal policies.

During the April 9 edition of Your World, for at least the second time in three days, Fox News aired on-screen text describing April 15 "tea party" protests that Fox News hosts will be attending as "FNC Tax Day Tea Parties." Fox News has often described those protests primarily as a response to President Obama's fiscal policies. While airing the text, host Neil Cavuto stated that "we are genuine about being all over the country" at the protests, adding that "we think if you folks are making a big deal of it, you know what? It's a big deal, because you folks are a bigger deal." Beck added: "We picked the Alamo for a reason. Stand. Stand."

From the April 9 edition of Your World:

As Media Matters for America noted, while discussing the April 15 protests on his April 6 program, Beck suggested that viewers could "[c]elebrate with Fox News" by either attending a protest or watching it on Fox News. Beck stated that in addition to himself, hosts Cavuto, Greta Van Susteren, and Sean Hannity would be "live" at different protests. While Beck spoke, on-screen text labeled those protests as "FNC Tax Day Tea Parties":

Earlier in the segment, Cavuto stated that "left-wing organizations like Media Matters" are "angry" at Fox News "for covering these protests." But beyond merely "covering" the events, as Media Matters has noted, Fox News has actually promoted them, with numerous instances of Fox News airing segments encouraging viewers to get involved with tea-party protests across the country.

Fox News Channel Tax Day Tea Party, eh?

So if Fox News a news agency or just a tool of the right wing?

This gives FNC FULL OWNERSHIP now if we see this at these events:

Wow.  Will they ever give up?  Where was the outcry and Bush was destroying this country? All the wasteful SPENDING, endless wars, poorly handled natural disasters, inhumane torture, and under the counter poltics??? Anyone?? I'm still looking.

I know they are going for the entertainment over fact, but I don't see anything entertaining about this.  Fair and Balanced eh?  I used to watch the news before I discoverd NPR/Internet and have no interest in gluing my eyes to this disgusting UNAMERICAN behavior.

Huckabee, Beck, Hannity, Cavuto, O'reilly, Coulter.  Fare and Balinsed

The day that Obama's plans take foot and succeed will be the day Fox crumbles

Since you have all the rather blatant evidence, can't you go after Fox "News" as a partisan political group, subject to all of the restrictions that political groups deal with close to elections? Can't we hit Fox "News" with being a rather direct arm of the Republican Parry, and subject to all of the campaign finance laws?

So, what happens if one of these angry people that FOX has gathered for a riot shoots someone? Will FOX be financially liable?

Which group brags about their guns?

Which group has recently had a person shoot a cop?

Which group has a history of being so angry at government that they take violent action toward people and buildings?

      Which group watches Fox news?

During the Republican convention who was targeted by the police for the bogus claim of Incitement to riot?

Why were journalists like Amy Goodman and her producers thrown to the ground?

I think that it is time for Fox news and all the right wing radio stations that are pushing this event to make it VERY clear that this to be a non-violent peaceful protest and also to tell everyone who might possbibly be attending to not bring any guns. Only people who have CCW permits should be able to bring them.

If they do NOT make this very very clear to their people then any problem with vandalism or violence needs to be the financial responsiblity of FOX news or the local radio/TV station that is the sponsor.   Legal responsibility will still be that of the shooters, but financial responsiblity needs to be FOX's.

But I doubt that they will do this, because they think they are never responsible for whipping up violence. I think that putting them on the financial hook for any damage or violence might make them think twice before they want to unleash their angry people.

I doubt they would be financially liable, they are just saying they will cover the events.  They are not selling tickets.  Glenn Beck, who I can't stand, will be here in San Antonio for their Tea Party.  I will probably go anyway.

I don't know whojust shot a cop, but I see some hispanic woman on t.v. in a car chase on some l.a. freeway as I write.  I guarantee she votes, if at all, democratic.  they just got her bumper but she's still on her way.

incitement to riot?  what are you talking about?

Amy Goodman?  not familiar with what happened, but she probably deserved it.

I expect there to be no violence.  Guns, who would have a gun there?  You are so paranoid.

This is dangerous. This media promotion of a tax revolt can push this nation over hte edge. Fox should be prosecuted for insurrection or fomenting rebellion. This is no joke. Taxes in this country are at realtive historical lows. Not more than 3 decades past the upper tax rate was 70% or more. If those making over 100K per year were required to pay at least some Social Security payroll tax, that incredibly successful program would be solvent for many years to come. This move by Fox is VERY dangerous.

For anyone to suggest that our taxes are "low" they must be on welfare or a state or federal worker who sits on their ass all day not needing to work like the rest of us! I own 2 businesses and believe me, we are taxed by the county, the state, the federal government. If I wasnt taxed so much we could afford better health care and more employees. Be smart Liberals, get off of your asses and get a real job.

If the only reason you hired more people is because you had more money, you're a lousy businessperson anyway, and shouldn't worry about being in business much longer.  You don't hire more people because your taxes are lower, you hire them if the demand for more service outweighs the cost of having more employees.  Be smart, conservative, and don't try to explain basic economics to us.

Clearly none of you have ACTUALLY paid any attention to these events.  Fox did screw up by putting their name on these.  The event Beck is going to was organized by a house wife.  He turned down speaking because he didn't want the event to be about him.  They are also very vocally advocating these events to NOT be anti-Obama, anti-Dem, but pro USA.  And they are NOT protests / revolts / rebellions.  They are a bunch of average citizens getting together to try and tell Washington to stop spending so damn much money.

So because Bush spent to much of our money (which is true) it's just fine and dandy that the current President and congress multiply it by 4?  We are on a path that will not be able to be sustained (According to the Congressional Budget office)

Does this worry you at all?

Grumpy, if you had been out there protesting anything that has happened in the last 8 years, we would know you and your protest might have some credibility.but you were quiet for the generational theft of our men and women who were sent off to an unnecessary war, you were silent when Bush took a $$ surplus and turned it into a $$$$deficit, you were silent right up to the end when Paulson gave the TARP money away with no over sight, so don't fool yourself, we're certainly not. Are you so stupid you think that we believe you all just decided to care what the government is doing NOW? You're fooling no one but yourself, this is an anti Obama rally.

Does this not cross the line into political campaigning and if so does it not fall under McCain-Feingold?

BTW look at the DOW and you will see the door rapidly closing on the Republican fiscal policy.  That's what this tea party is intended to do, to try to trump pragmatic effectiveness in fiscal policy with ideology.  HEY TROLLS!!!  History will remember you as the villains.  Do really want to be on the side that brought this country to the brink of disaster?
