Breitbart now really stretching to link White House with ACORN

September 21, 2009 9:36 pm ET — 18 Comments

Andrew Breitbart's website BigGovernment.com, which pushed the undercover ACORN videos, is continuing its quest "to wake-up America to Obama Administration relationships with ACORN" -- no matter how insignificant those relationships are. Breitbart's latest evidence of "relationships" consist of a White House employee who previously worked for an organization that has had a "partnership" with ACORN and a White House website that redirects to a volunteer database containing opportunities to volunteer with ACORN.

Breitbart pushes "relationships" between ACORN and Obama administration

BigGov: White House aide once worked for WakeupWalmart.com, which has partnered with ACORN. In a September 21 post, Dan Loos wrote:

BigGovernment.com continues to wake-up America to Obama Administration relationships with ACORN and Big Labor. BigGov's latest story highlights Presidential Advisor Valerie Jarrett's crew member Buffy Wicks who is the former political director of forced union dues financed WakeupWalmart.com (Wakeup).

[...]

United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) union bosses have paid ACORN over a half-a-million dollars. While Wicks coordinated UFCW sponsored Wakeup's "political" organizing campaign, UFCW bragged about its coordination with ACORN. UFCW also coordinated numerous voter registrations with ACORN.

After Howard Dean's presidential quest crashed and burned, Wicks became the Political Director for Wakeup, an outfit supported by forced union dues under the direction and control of UFCW bosses. On October 13, 2005, UFCW announced its new partnership with ACORN.

BigGov: White House website connects to a non-White House database, which posted ACORN volunteer opportunities. In a September 18 post, BigGovernment.com's Dana Loesch wrote:

The Obama Administration has placed a large premium on what it calls "national service." It has launched a website, www.Serve.gov, that is reported to act as a clearing house for Americans eager to "give back" to their communities. Unfortunately, Americans looking for an opportunity to volunteer may get something they weren't expecting.

By typing "ACORN" into the search field entitled "What interests you" at Serve.gov, you're transported to allforgood.org where you can choose from a list of volunteer opportunities, including "healthcare activist." This particular "volunteer" opportunity is with the Tuscon ACORN office.

Loesch did not note that allforgood.org has all types of volunteer opportunities. For example, typing "pro-life" into the "What interests you" search field of Serve.gov redirects you to allforgood.org, where you can choose from a number of anti-choice volunteer opportunities, including an internship with the Maryland affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.

Breitbart continues to lead conservative quest to tie Obama to ACORN

Glenn Beck and Fox News have relied on Drudge protégé Breitbart for ACORN attacks. Breitbart's BigGovernment.com first pushed the undercover ACORN videos. Clips from these videos were pushed by Breitbart and have been featured on numerous Fox News programs.

Breitbart has repeatedly attacked progressives. Breitbart, whom Beck has called one of the "great journalists of our time," has made several incendiary statements about progressives, claiming for instance that Democrats depend "on the ability to keep blacks in fear"; that Ted Kennedy is a "villain," a "duplicitous bastard," and a "prick"; and that "Democrats would distribute needles, methadone, medical marijuana and biscotti in voter goodie bags if they could get away with it."

Fox News has repeatedly attempted to tie Obama to ACORN. For example, Beck has devoted entire segments of his television show to tenuous or tangential "connections" between ACORN and the following people and groups: AmeriCorps, AARP, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, PRLDEF, and SEIU. Beck has also fearmongered about ACORN while attacking President Obama and his policies. Additionally, Fox News' Shannon Bream reported of Obama appeals court nominee David Hamilton: "Critics say Hamilton has ties to the liberal activist group ACORN," without noting that Hamilton's "ties" reportedly consist of "raising contributions door-to-door for the advocacy group ACORN for one month after college" in 1979.

Conservative media figures have frequently used ACORN as a bogeyman. In coverage of major news stories, many conservative media figures have frequently blamed ACORN for national crises and accused ACORN of receiving undeserved benefits from the government. Topics conservatives have used to scapegoat ACORN include: the 2008 financial crisis, voter fraud, the stimulus bill, the recount in the Minnesota Senate race, Obama's nomination of Hamilton, the 2010 Census, and Obama's work on behalf of ACORN in 1995. Of course the problem with Mr. Breitbart pushing this relative non-issue is that ACORN is nothing more than a group that is plagued with the same thing that many other groups are...

A few bad apples who have done stupid things and have taken the name of the company they are affiliated with down the drain with them... with the more than helpful hand of the right-wing propagandists and their willing sheeple!

I'm still waiting for any of these right-wing fools to come up with even one piece of evidence that shows that ACORN changed its reason for existing to aiding and abetting criminal behavior.

I expect a few right-wingers to see my post and claim that I'm blind to reality... and to those people, I say... don't! You have already lost!

Let's face it. If ACORN were a large for-profit big $$ U.S. corporation with lobbyists in Washington, Malkin, Beck & Breibart wouldn't care.

But because they're vulnerable and server inner-city poor minorities, they're going after them.

Or a military contractor making 300 times what we're paying ACORN, and dealing in real child prostitution, not just hearing about imaginary child prostitution.

Several of the wingnut trolls have been asked about their inconsistencies on the subject, and have chosen to stay the course with the phony outrage over ACORN.

        Wingnuts: Blackwater? DynCorp? Any thoughts?

I love posting stuff about bad Republicans on biggovernment's website, such as the fact that Michelle Bachmann's family has received almost 1/2 a million a year in farm subsidies. If that isn't feeding @ the government trough, what is?

Now ACORN has been getting 3 million a year from the feds since '94. Bachmann's FAMILY has received 1/6 of that amount and that's just one FAMILY!

          imaginary child prostitution.

Correction: imaginary underage Salvadoran sex slaves. Come on Colonel, you've got to keep the imagery more vivid so the nutjobs can feed their false outrage.

If ACORN has the rap sheet Catholic Charities has, you'd never hear the end of it from these loons.

Media Matters is the only site of truth to go for. HuffPo and KOS are weaksauce. It would be great if MMfA could investigate Breitbart further. He truly is a hateful man, with a McCarthyist agenda. Breitbart intensified his attacks on Yosi Sargent once again. He's also egging on Beck to take on more important administration personnel such as Valerie Jarret. (Beck recently said that because Jarrett's mother and father were professionals and African American, they must have been communists).

Is it a stretch to suggest that Breitbart is forcing Americans into the ranks of the unemployed?

That's what it looks like, Victor. In this floundering economy, we have a group of idle rich wingnuts who have nothing better to do than try to force people into unemployment for purely political reasons.

          There's some stuff in your link that fits in well with the whole propaganda pimp & Ho operation, what sane people have been saying;

The detective consulted another police official who served on a federal human smuggling task force, who said he needed more details.

Hmmm, just saying some kids in costumes mentioned prostitution isn't enough to get the FBI on it? Shocking.

The ACORN employee responded several days later and explained that the information he received was not true and he had been duped.

I asked several conservative posters here what they would have done if they were the ACORN employee targeted by the Fox News propaganda filmmmakers. The only answer I got was "take their info and call the police". Antbody not afflicted by years of Fox "news", who had some critical thinking abilities left, would ask if these weasels were giving correct contact information to ACORN.Apparently not.

          Vera was fired on Thursday.

POlitical expediency? Maybe not a big deal for the people in power, but another person, most likely treading water in our current economy, put out of a job by some losers with too much time on their hands and a political agenda.

I'd suggest large groups of people from the inner cities where ACORN operates carpool or charter a bus to the neighborhoods where those little silver-spoon Republicans from the "conservative journalism" school live. Or to the neighborhoods of Fox executives. Just start wandering aimlessly around their streets, asking if they have rooms for rent. And really "ethnic it up".

They could probably get some down payments in cash to go back to their streets.

Wasn't it just a few weeks ago when the White House put up a website to take reports of misinformation regarding health care? They wanted to know about those media sources actively spreading lies to prevent progress. This was called a "snitch site",and the rightys were worried about the police state where people were spying on each other. ("spying" on the media?)

How things have changed. Now some unaccountable sore losers can walk into a business, illegally record themselves talking about fictional crimes, and the right wing is ready to convict the targets of the scam for not properly overreacting to the scammers.

Oh yeah, it's about the outrageous tax fraud now, isn't it?

Big Government violates laws, White House Linked to Rogue Filmmakers

Big Government had posted secretly taped videos of ACORN employees that may have violated wiretapping laws in various states. Obama was once a lawyer for a firm that represented ACORN. Breitbart calls for Breitbart's resignation.
