Fox Nation falsely claims "new dirt" from Blagojevich trial "implicates Team Obama"

April 25, 2010 4:28 pm ET — 13 Comments

Fox Nation used the baseless headline "Blago Moves to Subpoena President: New Dirt Implicates Team Obama" in linking to a Mediaite story about the trial of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-IL). However, as ABC's Jake Tapper noted, Blagojevich "alleges no criminal wrongdoing by the president or his team" and is of "disputable credibility."

Fox Nation falsely claims subpoena "implicates Team Obama"

Fox Nation: "Blago Moves to Subpoena President: New Dirt Implicates Team Obama." Fox Nation linked to the April 22 Mediaite article under the headline "Blago Moves to Subpoena President: New Dirt Implicates Team Obama" and excerpted from the article:

In fact, subpoena "alleges no criminal wrongdoing" by Obama or his team

Tapper: Blagojevich "alleges no criminal wrongdoing by the president or his team." In an April 23 post on ABC's Political Punch blog, Jake Tapper stated, "Blagojevich alleges no criminal wrongdoing by the president or his team, though he does raise questions about what he says are conflicting stories."

Tapper: "Disgraced" Blagojevich "is of, shall we say, disputable credibility and is, of course a defendant in a criminal case." Discussing Blagojevich's speculative allegations, Tapper wrote, "Disgraced Democratic former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich filed a legal motion Thursday asking for President Obama to testify at the former governor's corruption trial." Tapper further wrote, "One should of course keep in mind that Blagojevich is of, shall we say, disputable credibility and of course is a defendant in a criminal case, having been indicted last year on 16 felony counts, including racketeering and extortion conspiracy.

Here in Illinois, Blago is a joke. No one in their right mind would link Blago to Obama. Obama rightly kept the Gov at arm's length when he was in the state senate and US senate. So did Sen. Durbin, who Blago wants to have testify as well. And there's no there there

Agreed, AB-001. I'm a bit down state from Chicago, but no matter where you are, Blago's stench permeated the state. Glad he's gone, and looking forward to his criminal trial.

I am a Republican, moderate for sure, but anyone with any brains at all KNOWs that Obama and Blagojevich are hardly speaking acquaintances. But it is obvious that my own party cannot get to Obama any other way than to lie about an Obama association with Blagojevich. I have heard the most disgusting racist comments about Obama out of Republican mouths and look folks, that is what all this crap spewing out of Republicans is all about. It is positively unGodly!

It is a Republican fantasy only. I used to live in that area and as I recall, Obama stayed clear of Blogojavich even when Obama was a state pol. Obama was never dumb and anyone who knew anything about Blagojavich knew he was double trouble. He was always a deal cutting slime. As a Republican, even I knew Obama was totally out of the reach of Blago.

Here, I'll put on my tin foil hat.

Blabovich's trial has been set to begin in June. Blabovich loves the spotlight and, like Dick Morris, has found a willing audience at FOX (as long as he promises dirt on Obama.

Just guessing, but I doubt that Blabovich will reveal this "dirt" before the trial. Meanwhile, he and Fox will form a two-party circle jerk in which they'll milk each other for mutual benefit.

Blabovich will get money and lots of attention from FOX, FOX will get the promise of an Obama scandal to dangle in front of its audience of drooling zombies. If the trial drags out, they may even be able to play their little game up through the election.

First ... Blagojevich would not subpoena Obama to implicate him in the scandal, but to show that nothing illegal happened.

Second ... Since when does FOX believe what Blagojevich says?

      just a silly question.

I get that there was a motion to subpoena Prexy, but did they say anything about the assertion after the colon? You know, the about the new dirt implicating the president? Like what it is supposed to be?

I get no criminal wrong doing alleged but what was alleged to justify the subpoena?

      Just asking...

This will be Hannity's next big headline to report on... now Obama is best friends with Blago, just like he was supposedly great friends with Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright. Fox will do ANYTHING to link Obama to somebody corrupt or outrageous... but when Bush and his "team" were linked to every corrupt entity possible, you didn't see these kind of headlines from them. Of course... why would we expect that from the Fake news Channel?
