Politico's Simon falsely claimed Al Gore "raised the issue" of Willie Horton

Citing the case of Willie Horton, a black man whose image as a criminal who committed crimes while on a weekend furlough from prison was used against 1988 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, Politico's Roger Simon wrote that Al Gore "raised the issue in a New York primary debate against Dukakis." In fact, while Gore questioned Dukakis about "weekend passes for convicted criminals," Gore did not mention Horton's name, his crimes, or his race.

Wash. Post's Ignatius cast Hagel as among earliest "national politician[s]" to criticize Iraq war, ignoring his support for 2002 war resolution

In his Washington
Post column, David Ignatius asserted that if Sen. Chuck Hagel
decides to run for president in 2008, "he can claim to have been right
about Iraq and other key issues earlier than almost any national politician,
Republican or Democratic." However, Ignatius' claim is undermined
by the fact that Hagel voted to authorize military action against Iraq in October
2002, which numerous Democrats vocally opposed at the time.

Fox & Friends interviewed Inhofe again; co-host Doocy seconded his claim that humans are not a cause of global warming

Fox & Friends conducted a one-on-one interview with Sen. James Inhofe
for the second time in two weeks, during which he asserted that there is no
"relationship between manmade gases and global warming." In fact,
the scientific consensus view is that "human activities are responsible
for much of the recent warming" of the planet.

Contrasting Steele and Ford, Matthews asserted "unthreatening" Steele is a "gentleman of the first order" and later endorsed him

During MSNBC's Battleground America coverage, Chris
Matthews stated that Tennessee Democratic Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. is "not as good
a candidate as [Maryland Republican
Senate candidate] Michael Steele," citing an incident in which Ford approached his opponent outside a
campaign event. Matthews compared this to a 2000 presidential debate in which
Al Gore approached George W. Bush; Matthews said Gore was "being a
fool" and "a
dork" for doing so. However, in a 2002 book, Matthews wrote that Gore "turned in his best performance" during that debate.

On CBS' "Free Speech," Hannity falsely suggested Gore flip-flopped on Iraq, blamed Dems for "divided" country despite his own divisive statements

In an appearance on the "Free Speech" segment of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, Sean Hannity falsely suggested that Al Gore "reversed course" on Iraq -- in fact, Gore has consistently opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq -- and, despite Hannity's own history of politically divisive statements, attributed the country's "divided" state to Democrats.

Carlson claimed Gore's supporters "would be terrified" if Gore ran for president; baselessly claimed "nobody" wants Gore to run

Tucker Carlson baselessly claimed that "nobody, especially his friends, wants to see Al Gore run for president," but recent polling indicates that respondents would choose Gore as the Democratic nominee for president in 2008 over all other potential challengers except for Sen. Hillary Clinton. He also repeated his earlier description of Gore as a "zealot."
