<title>MSNBC baselessly characterized Iraq Study Group&#x27;s call for withdrawal &#x22;relatively soon&#x22; as &#x22;similar&#x22; to Bush&#x27;s position</title>
<link>http://mediamatters.org/items/200611300011</link>
<description>On the same day that President
Bush said, &#x22;We&#x27;re going to stay in Iraq
to get the job done,&#x22; MSNBC correspondent Jeannie Ohm described the
reported forthcoming recommendation by the Iraq Study Group for a phased
withdrawal of U.S. troops
from Iraq
as &#x22;similar to what the president has been saying.&#x22;

<title>Media uncritically reported Rove&#x27;s false claim that Democrats don&#x27;t want to eavesdrop on Al Qaeda</title>
<link>http://mediamatters.org/items/200601230007</link>
<description>Numerous media outlets repeated without challenge White House senior adviser Karl Rove&#x27;s defense of President Bush&#x27;s warrantless domestic surveillance program, in which Rove falsely claimed that &#x22;some important Democrats clearly disagree&#x22; with the proposition that &#x22;if Al Qaeda is calling somebody in America, it is in our national security interest to know who they&#x27;re calling and why.&#x22; In fact, no leading Democrat has said that it is not in our interest to monitor Al Qaeda&#x27;s communications.</description>
