ABC's Moran asserted some Obama "friends" said his house purchase "looks like a sweetheart deal," but quoted no one saying that

On Nightline, Terry Moran reported, "The Obamas got the home [their house in Chicago] for $300,000 below the original asking price. To critics and even some friends, it looks like a sweetheart deal." Moran later added that Obama's campaign "insists that the Obamas' purchase and the Rezko purchase were not contingent on each other and were made at fair-market prices." But Moran cited no one saying the home purchase "looks like a sweetheart deal" and did not note that, according to Bloomberg News, "[t]he couple who sold Barack Obama his Chicago home said the Illinois senator's $1.65 million bid 'was the best offer' and they didn't cut their asking price because a campaign donor bought their adjacent land, according to e-mails between Obama's presidential campaign and the seller."

ABC's Tapper claimed "inherent contradiction" in Clinton's Iraq statements but left out context refuting his claim

Jake Tapper baselessly claimed that an
"inherent contradiction" exists between Sen. Hillary Rodham
Clinton's statements prior to her 2002 vote to authorize the use of force against Iraq
and her recent
explanation of that vote.
Tapper's report suggested that Clinton had
not advocated further U.N. inspections in Iraq before an invasion, but she
did so in the same 2002 interview from which Tapper quoted.

Moran called Powell's WMD claims "a total intelligence failure at the CIA"

On ABC's Nightline, co-anchor Terry Moran characterized "the U.S. claim that Saddam Hussein's regime had weapons of mass destruction" as "a total intelligence failure at the CIA." In fact, while much of the intelligence produced by the CIA before the Iraq war was indeed faulty, many of the Bush administration's most dramatic prewar claims had been called into question by the CIA or other intelligence agencies.

ABC's Donvan misrepresented scope of Harris controversy, ignored her request for MZM appropriation

On ABC's Nightline, correspondent John Donvan misrepresented the scope of the controversy about ties between Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL) and disgraced defense contractor Mitchell Wade. Donvan reported that Wade "made illegal contributions to her campaign" but added: "[T]hough she gave the money back, it's what reporters in Florida keep asking about. Even this week it came up." In fact, in the past week, while Florida newspapers have continued to raise questions about the illegal campaign contributions, they have also focused on Harris's subsequent request to the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee for a $10 million earmark that would have benefited Wade's company.
