Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh suggested that the Rev. Jesse Jackson and other civil rights leaders promote racial tension for personal gain. On the April 22 edition of the Rush Limbaugh Show, Limbaugh compared "race relations" to "environmentalism" as issues where activists don't truly want the problems to be "solved" or "fixed":
LIMBAUGH: [D]on't ever expect the environmentalists to go silent, just like the Reverend Jackson will never go silent. Race relations will never be, quote-unquote, "solved." It would put too many people out of business. Environmentalism will never be "fixed." It would put too many out of business.
