Fox's Perino Ignores NYT Correction To Falsely Claim Clinton Personally Signed Off Aide's Job Authorization

Fox's Dana Perino promoted the false claim that Hillary Clinton personally signed off on her aide Huma Abedin's job change. On September 24 The New York Times reported that Hillary Clinton had “personally signed off on” her aide, Huma Abedein, being authorized “to begin working for a private consulting firm while remaining at the State Department.” The Times later updated their story noting that documents actually show it was Clinton's then chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, -- not the former secretary of state herself -- who authorized Abedin's job change. Nonetheless, Fox News host Dana Pernio hyped the story without noting the Times' correction on the September 29 edition of Fox & Friends:

PERINO: This is not something that the right-wing conspiracy came up with, this is something that every time she goes out there's a new story. Plus because of the investigation we now have information that really I think is most disturbing to people. For example, it's not just that she had the email server, but in those communications, she actually personally signs off on a deal where her staffer, Huma Abedin gets to get not only a government salary that you all paid for, but a sweetheart deal where she gets actually money from a private organization up here called Teneo, which is a PR firm connected to the Clinton Global Foundation, and that's where all this information is coming.
