JAKE TAPPER (HOST): So that was Mr. Trump in 2015 talking about his foolproof plan that he said would be secret. Now he's saying that he's going to give the generals 30 days to come up with a plan. What happened to his original foolproof plan?

SEN. JEFF SESSIONS (R-AL): Well, look, this can be done. And Donald Trump is saying clearly, unequivocally, and consistently, we're going to target ISIS first. And we're going to defeat them and protect America from that kind of attack. And we're not going to get involved in long, prolonged nation-building matters that create instability in the long run and don't serve American interests first. So it's in our interest to attack the ISIS and defeat them, and he's got a clear sight about that and I don't think there is any doubt -- I don't think he ever doubted would be talking with the generals on how to achieve it.

TAPPER: Yeah, but he he said he had a plan. He said he had a foolproof plan, and now he is saying today, generals are going to come up with the plan. So, did he not have a plan to begin with, or does he think that these generals whom he's said “don't know much” are going to come up with a better plan than he concocted?
