ARI FLEISCHER (FORMER WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY): The part about the voter, yes and no. I mean, one thing for Joe Biden, who's got the rap of being sleepy and comatose on a stage, to all of a sudden snap awake and take on a voter and do so in blunt terms — so that shows some vigor. On the other hand, it shows a lot of rudeness. So how can he say he's the empathetic person, going to the White House, restoring normalcy, when he speaks down and talks like this to a blue-collar voter? So, yes and no, that one cuts both ways.
ED HENRY (CO-ANCHOR): Well, their response is that this voter was misrepresenting his position on gun control, and so he speaks his mind just like the president punches back when he thinks people are treating him unfairly.
FLEISCHER: Yeah, but the difference is, everybody knows the president's a tough guy, and he speaks back like that. With Biden doing it, there's a level of — this is just kind of odd. Who swears at a voter like this? That's not really what's Biden's been like. So where did this come from? It cuts both ways.
