Tonight, Glenn Beck is scheduled to appear on Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, marking his first appearance on the channel since June, when he departed from the show he hosted there. Coincidentally (or not), today also marks the launch of Beck's new show on his internet-only network, GBTV.
It's interesting that Beck is returning to the network where he rose to prominence. Beck and Fox had a tense relationship for much of his time there, with relations particularly deteriorating towards the end as Beck moved farther towards the fringe and encouraged viewers to visit his website and turn off the television. Fox -- reportedly concerned about the mass exodus of advertisers from Beck's show and that Beck was taking over the Fox News brand -- also took numerous jabs at him, including pre-empting his show for a special on sex scandals. Beck left Fox with sagging ratings.
O'Reilly is a unsurprising choice to host Beck's return visit to Fox. He helped Beck to promote his non-Fox business ventures in the past, and the two men have also done a tour of live shows together.
