White nationalist: I was “working in cooperation” with WorldNetDaily, which gave me “huge national exposure”

White nationalist James Edwards has come to the defense of WorldNetDaily after the website was criticized for touting a birther claim made on his “pro-white” radio show at a “white supremacist” conference. The “openly pro-white” Edwards wrote that he was “working in cooperation” with WorldNetDaily editor Joe Kovacs, which resulted in “tons of new visitors” and “huge national exposure.”
The birther claim WorldNetDaily promoted was made on Edwards' The Political Cesspool program at the national conference of the Council of Conservative Citizens. The CoCC is described by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a “white supremacist” “hate group,” and by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) as having a “white supremacy, white separatism” ideology. Edwards' The Political Cesspool website states: “We represent a philosophy that is pro-White ... We wish to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility and beyond to grow the percentage of Whites in the world relative to other races.”
The ADL and SPLC have both criticized Edwards and The Political Cesspool. The SPLC writes that Edwards “has probably done more than any of his contemporaries on the American radical right to publicly promote neo-Nazis, Holocaust deniers, raging anti-Semites and other extremists.”
WND's Kovacs first began running stories on the Political Cesspool-originated claim on June 10. While Kovacs noted Edwards, he made no mention of the controversial backgrounds of the openly pro-white show or conference.
MSNBC's Keith Olbermann highlighted WorldNetDaily's promotion during his Worst Persons segment on Monday. In response, Edwards defended WND and criticized Olbermann, writing on Tuesday:
Radical left wing talk show host Keith Olbermann denounced WorldNetDaily for their coverage of the Tim Adams story. Why? Well, it seems that WorldNetDaily is only supposed to get breaking news stories from left wing sources like MSNBC, and they didn't follow the rules. Instead, they expanded on a story that we broke on our radio show. And our show was broadcast live from the Council of Conservative Citizens meeting. And since we're openly pro-white, and CofCC opposes efforts to mix the races, that makes us and CofCC bad guys, and it makes WND bad guys for following up on a news story we broke.
“Working in cooperation” with WND has apparently paid off for the white nationalist host (and his cause). Edwards wrote on June 10:
We're getting tons of new visitors today, and most of the new ones are here because they read on WorldNetDaily about the story we broke this past Saturday involving Tim Adams. Tim Adams was a senior Elections Clerk in Hawaii during the 2008 elections, and he asserts that there is no Hawaii birth certificate for Obama. After Worldnetdaily picked the story up from us, it's getting huge national exposure. So, welcome to all the visitors who found us from the Worldnetdaily article! Take a look at the archives; I think you'll like what you see.
Stormfront.org, which describes itself as a “community of White Nationalists,” reposted WND's articles in its forums, with one forum member claiming that WND is “certainly” a reliable source.
WorldNetDaily and Joe Kovacs did not reply to repeated requests for comment.
